I so wanted to kiss Belle and Mulan.. But figured the character breakfast wasn't the proper place to do that... However, Ariel did pucker for me when I saw her at her grotto....

I actually have never thought about kissing a character. But it's a really good idea! Next time I see Jasmine or Belle... hehe. That's my new goal for my next trip in November.

But when I went to Disney this past November, my best friend Heather, who is 15, was having her picture taken with Rafiki in Epcot near the Leave a Legacy tiles. Rafiki put his staff on the tiles, so it was leaning on them, and then he took Heather's arms, wrapped them around his waste, and pulled her to him. She was laughing hysterically when the picture was taken. And after she took the picture, she jumped out of his arms, but he pulled her back and gave her a big kiss. It was quite comedic. For the rest of the day, she kept on saying 'Rafiki hit on me!" She wouldn't let it go.

I've never actually kissed a character, but I have been cuddled more than a few times:)

I've also been licked by Pluto many times. It happened alot during my very first trip to WDW. In every photo of me and Pluto together, I'm usually face deep in his toungue.

Well sometimes the kissing gets out of hand. There are a couple of guests who think it's their job to go around and kiss and bug them all the time. For ex: the EPCOT man. He goes there everyday and gives the princesses breath mints.

I think a good rule to follow would be to ask the character first before laying a smooch on them. They probably would be more open to it, if you asked.

Oh Drew, you're so strict about the Characters. Okay I understand about asking the princes and princesses but you shouldn't have to ask Mickey and Minnie. Getting kisses from kids is what the characters love most.

I also understand when people don't want to shake hands or anything, especially with all the kids we meet who have been picking their noses and picking at their wedgies all day. It can get gross...

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I worry about the germs. I give characters "air kisses", but don't actually make contact. Once when I was having thanksgiving dinner at Liberty Tree, Minnie came up and insisted on shaking my hand. She had just been handling some kids with very runny noses. I shook her hand, but then immediately went and washed mine before I touched any more of my food. I tried to tell her no thanks when she wanted to shake my hand, but she would not back off. It was during a time when I didn't have much of an immune system, so it was pretty disturbing!
No you're not paranoid, you are correct. The cold virus is rapidly transmitted by hand shaking. Kissing a "face" character is insane! I really hope that all the WDW characters get hepatitis B, flu, TB and polio vaccinations prior to working at Disney. There are many visitors with active and contagious infections at WDW every day!

Well in that case i guess i shouldn't touch the turnstiles, my tickets handled by germy hands, my ride restraint, or CHARACHTERS? C' mon that borders paranoid when you won't touch a character.

They probably do. You do have a point with your last statement.

You are missing my point here. People that have a lot of public "hands on" contact (such as EMT's, Police, Fire, etc.) need to be up to date on their vaccinations. It is just common sense for them to be protected against diseases that could cause them serious harm or death. I would extend that protection to Disney characters that routinely have to be touched, kissed and suffer other assaults.

They have no choice in dealing with guests in very close encounters. Some of those guests will undoubtedly be infected with communicable diseases such as mumps, measles, chickenpox, TB, hepatitis B, influenza, the common cold virus, polio, etc. WDW gets visitors from all over the world.

So, the point is, I don't worry about it and neither should the average guest at WDW. It's very unlikely that you would be infected by "the turnstiles, my tickets handled by germy hands, my ride restraint, or CHARACHTERS". Don't worry. However, the CM's that have to come in direct contact with hundreds of guests and shake their hands, get kissed, hugged and other "stuff", are in danger if they are not protected against the known communicable illnesses.

From what I've seen, heard, and done if a CM makes a point to management that they want one of the vacinations, Disney will cover it.

In training there are lots of precautions that all CMs are supposed to take but I don't think I've ever seen something carried out the way it was supposed to be done. BBP is a biggie and one that they make a good deal of cast members take a training class in.

Yeah, I was talking about Face characters. I hope someone wouldn't go up and kiss Jasmine without her knowing first.

Who's "Epcot Man"? Is there more information on this?

An older gentleman who takes his ECV/Wheelchair to Epcot everyday and goes around and bugs all the characters in World Showcase.

Clopin (who I think of very highly) and myself talked about this. He saw him all the time.
