Fievel- I'm starting to agree with you. It's getting beaten to death and no matter what anyone's opinion is here, they are not going to change it (Like Grizzly said, I wouldn't want to).

If you two no longer want to read this thread, that's fine. But, I really don't think a public announcement of that fact is really necessary.:) Of course neither of you will see this post because you're never going to read this thread again. ;)

Now, the classics aren't so classic anymore. Want to watch Snow White? Pop in the DVD. Want to watch Sleeping Beauty? Only have it on VHS, over there underneath Peter Pan....

... I think it would be a tremendous risk for the parks to start putting in rides just because it was a recent movie. Sure, there are new classics, but just how "long term" classic will some of these newer classics be?

...

When it comes to some of the classic rides based on animated features in MK, my personal feeling would be to update the effects and technology, but leave the theme in place.

Well put!

I think time will reveal which new characters and movies are classics. Until then, I agree that Disney should stick with the established classics and develop a strategy to KEEP them classic in the minds of a new generation.

Even though we have access to the movies whenever we want, I still think that spending time in a ride where we become PART of the story will always be an attraction. However, the quality of the rides will have to be much better because we have much better quality entertainment and sound in our homes. Our expectation for technology is so much greater.

PS I'm betting that Beauty and the Beast will stand out in the future. Both it and Lion King would lend themselves to fantastic rides and I think they are both destined to become classics.

Again, time will tell.

PPS No2, did you see the Disney on Ice at Freedom Hall? I took four of my kids and we enjoyed it.

No, we didn't go. I asked my boys if they wanted to see it, and they both looked at me like I had parsley stuck between my teeth, and said "Uh...no." I think they would have enjoyed it if we saw it, but I wasn't going to force the issue.

Oh well, maybe next time it comes through this area, maybe just my wife and I will go.:animwink:

And I agree with you about Beauty and the Beast, and Lion King, they have true classic quality.
