Kill me now ... Second guessing myself!

Ok, most of you know I bit the bullet and booked the Poly for my first-ever-solo trip. Now, I'm second guessing my resort choice. It is ALOT more money than I have EVER spent on myself. While I can afford it (it's already paid off), it almost seems like a waste since it will be just me, myself and I. I'm starting think that there's so much else I can do with the cash saved.

Are there any other deluxe resorts that you feel have the same "magic" as the Poly for less money?

Don't switch. Sure you can save money elsewhere, but if its already paid off then go and enjoy. The Polynesian is beautiful, the food is yummy and its located at a great spot...on the monorail and close enough to see the fireworks from the beach. Go, relax and take the time to explore the world.

You only live once. Go for it. If money is not an issue and you already have it paid in full, then just sit back and enjoy the waves of Seven Seas Lagoon lapping the shores of the Poly and forget about it......

Spending money on oneself is never a bad thing, go and enjoy yourself, you won't regret it. Besides who else deserves staying at the Poly and having a magical time.

If it makes you feel any better My wife kids and I will join you so you don't feel like you are wasting all that money on yourself, rather you are helping another family experience some Disney magic.

I always thought the WL and AKL had, overall, more "magic" than some of the other Deluxes. I don't know if if they work out to less money than the Poly, though.

I have similar thoughts as you do when it comes to spending big money on a room for just myself. The couple times I've gone by myself, I've either stayed off-site, or at a value or moderate resort. I felt like I could make better use of the money in other ways.

You made an excellent choice. If you can afford it, enjoy it. Remember the ancient Chinese proverb..."if you can't treat yourself like royalty, don't expect anyone to do it for you"...on second thought, that might have been might Aunt Pearl who said that...either way, sound advice!

Although I have yet to stay at the Poly, it seems to me to be the perfect resort to stay at solo. You can sit out on the beach and relax in tropical splendor when not out at the parks.

You're celebrating and you deserve it!

Yes, stay there and enjoy. To make it worth your money, make sure you take the time to enjoy the resort and what makes it different/unique from any other resort you may have stayed at. You won't regret the decision once you've thoroughly enjoyed the Polynesian.

On my solo trip if I could have afforded the Beach Club you better bet I would have been there rather than ASMovie. All Stars are great but when you are by yourself a little pampering is really nice.

Have a great trip!

I think there is much more to do around the Polynesian than most resorts but if you wanted to save money than the Beach Club would have been a good choice. I would have said AKL since it is cheaper but it is under construction and it is too isolated for a solo trip in my opinion and I have been there by myself.

I don’t think you should change just because there is so much to do at the resort or just relaxing there and the easy access to the parks and the other resorts is what makes it the best choice. I really do not think you will be sorry after you go.

Last time I was there by myself I stayed at Pop Century and I just ended up taking at taxi over to the Polynesian to eat and enjoy the view.

Stay at the Poly!!!!!! Let's put it this way, if someone were paying for me to stay ANYWHERE at WDW, my choice would be Poly! Stayed there two times and LOVED it! The atmosphere, the tiki torches, the music, the pool and quiet pool, the restaraunts, the monorail, the fireworks........ you get the idea!
Spoil yourself!

Thanks guys ... sanity reared its ugly head there for a while (of course, I have no sanity when it comes to WDW). :ROFLOL:

I guess what happened to start me questioning my choice was that I got my final tuition bill  While my son and I are pretty much living off my student loans until graduation, I slaved my little butt off this summer saving for my Disney-blow-out-birthday-and-grad trip, and started to wonder if it was worth it.

By goly, it is! :sohappy: Poly, here I come! :king:

ooOoo...why didn't I think of that!

If you like, I will come down to Florida and split the room with ya? What do you say?

The more the merrier I say!

Stay at the Poly! Go up to the tambu lounge grab a drink and relax. I cant wait to get there 10/3/07-10/08/07. What time of the year are you going?

Going March 30 - April 5. Can't wait. 5 more days until I'm at my ADR window!

Don't feel bad, enjoy yourself! All Stars are great but when you are by yourself a little pampering is really nice.

Thanks. Pampering is originally why I booked the Poly. Drinks, beach and ... maybe Prince Charming? :D

Thanks Steve. I was a little unsure of staying there solo, just because I am sure by son would LOVE the Poly, and of course, lots of other families with little ones. But, it is convenient, and the tropical theme suits me to a tee! Thinking of adding a request to me ressie though: Fiji 3rd floor marina view. That way, even though I'm solo, I'll still be in the thick of it.

Spoil yourself!

Darn it, I DO get the idea! Poly has been my dream resort since I started going as an adult. I think I just have to get used to the idea of spoiling myself and not some one else :o

Yeah, what they said AND it is a lovely place for a trip solo! Stop beating yourself up and start getting excited!

Yea, beating myself up is one my top traits. It's difficult not to be hard on myself: going back to university after my divorce, getting good grades, student teaching, being a single parent and role model, and still trying to be there for my family and friends. I don't really have much time to date or go out, so the Poly will be like starting off the next chapter with a bang! But, yea, sometimes I take too much upon myself.
