Kill me now ... Second guessing myself!

Ok, most of you know I bit the bullet and booked the Poly for my first-ever-solo trip. Now, I'm second guessing my resort choice. It is ALOT more money than I have EVER spent on myself. While I can afford it (it's already paid off), it almost seems like a waste since it will be just me, myself and I. I'm starting think that there's so much else I can do with the cash saved.

Are there any other deluxe resorts that you feel have the same "magic" as the Poly for less money?

Yea, beating myself up is one my top traits. It's difficult not to be hard on myself: going back to university after my divorce, getting good grades, student teaching, being a single parent and role model, and still trying to be there for my family and friends. I don't really have much time to date or go out, so the Poly will be like starting off the next chapter with a bang! But, yea, sometimes I take too much upon myself.

After reading that, it sounds like there is a very simple way to rationalize staying at the Poly--you flat out deserve it. It's time to get excited, not to second guess a decision you know is right!

Thanks Steve. I was a little unsure of staying there solo, just because I am sure by son would LOVE the Poly, and of course, lots of other families with little ones. But, it is convenient, and the tropical theme suits me to a tee! Thinking of adding a request to me ressie though: Fiji 3rd floor marina view. That way, even though I'm solo, I'll still be in the thick of it.

I would suggest Samoa over Fiji if you want to be in the middle of it all. I was never a fan of staying on the other side of the marina. The pools, beach, TTC and bus stop are much easier to get to from Samoa and the west side has great views. Just my opinion.

NO!!! Don't do it!!! Splurge on yourself!!! It's not a waste. I only wish I could do it. And I see someone already volunteered their family to join you if you need company. Relax, take a deep breath, count to ten, YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!

Thanks guys ... sanity reared its ugly head there for a while (of course, I have no sanity when it comes to WDW). :ROFLOL:

I guess what happened to start me questioning my choice was that I got my final tuition bill  While my son and I are pretty much living off my student loans until graduation, I slaved my little butt off this summer saving for my Disney-blow-out-birthday-and-grad trip, and started to wonder if it was worth it.

By goly, it is! :sohappy: Poly, here I come! :king:

Good for you. I have never stayed at the Poly and now with the DVC most likely will not. However ....

I have done solo trips and also trips with my kids. There is something about commng back to the "nicer" resorts. It is "worth it" if you can swing it.

I am heading down tonight :D with some friends and we are staying in POP and while I am very very excited to be going on this trip with some of my best friends and some people I have not met yet, I look at pictures of POP on-line and think - ugh. :)

Do the Poly, splurge (a little) and then when you get back and have that freshly minted degree you will be glad you took the time adn trip now, when you could.

Asking if you should treat yourself to a good time in this forum is like asking your car dealer how much you should spend on a car.

Didn't the OP say she was living off her student loans?

Let's assume she lives another three years. She can treat herself then.

H2O, go and have a great time, but find a cheaper hotel.

Lucky you! Go, and enjoy a guilt-free vacation. The Poly is just beautiful, and there's plenty to do and see. You're just a monorail hop from everything the Contemporary and GF have to offer, as well, so I'm sure you'll have a great (solo) time.
