Magic Kingdom is NOT a kids theme park, despite the latest Disney's leadership insistence. To call it as such contributes to the gross misconception that feeds many of the problems WDW has these days. It is a family park, built to entertain all members of the family. I wish Disney would remember that Walt built his park to cure his own boredom, not his kids'.Not really surprising. I mean, it is a statute in a kid's theme park.
It's not like he's buried there or anything... right?
Absolutely, except previously we could feign ignorance, now our silence simply affirms acceptance. I think there is lowering of standards, I would consider it an evolution of disrespect. Each generation rebels from the rules and standards of their predecessors. This is not always a bad thing, and actually in some cases, results in great progress, but at the same time concepts of respect and limits often dilute with each generation. Today's mentality is that everyone has the right to do everything they want, and if they pay to go to a park, it is their right to all-but destroy it. Try to correct a child's behavior, and you will get a belligerent parent in your face, never mind that it is the child that should be punished/corrected. I wouldn't feel this way if I didn't see it every single day. It's sad, really...While I don't necessarily approve, it's probably not the first time it's ever happened. I'll bet we've seen this sort of thing since 1971. The only real difference is the prevalence of social media capturing EVERY single piece of unperfect behavior and posting it real time.
Using this image to confirm the failure of "parents today" and the inevitable downfall of western civilization is silly and hyperbolic.
In both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom, the Partners status is up on a stone pedestal, surrounded by plantings, a railing, and the stone bench at the center of the hub. You have to climb onto the bench, over the railing, and trample the landscaping to get to the statue.
I consider that to be disrespectful, regardless of whose statue it is. It's disrespectful to the landscapers who have to repair the plantings. It's disrespectful to everyone else who would like to take a photo of their family in FRONT of the status (like you're supposed to do). And it poses a safety risk - because the bench and railing aren't designed for this purpose.

Walt woulda thought it was fun, just an opinion.
For cryin out loud, it's not the Pieta'; and to the poster above who made this sound emblematic of 'the end of the world as we know it'...you really need to get out more. Or have a beer.
I do feel bad for the trampled flowers though...
