Kevin Yee- Airing of Grievances

It's just good to know that there is a change in management coming very soon. I can only hope we have a quick turnaround of the property. It's clear at least that Disney seems to get that maintenance is becoming a serious problem. So there's hope for the future at least.

On the other end of the spectrum, I think I may have finally figured out what's wrong with Jimmy. He must have ridden Maelstrom so many times and huffed a bit too much of that mold in there, seems to have addled his head to the point where it has caused a constant feeling of euphoria, blindness, AND funnily the inability to read financial reports (again a product of the blindness I suspect)-

Couldn't a similar argument be made for Carsland/DCA redo and to a degree Shanghai because JL and Bob Iger needed to make these projects work? I seriously doubt that folks like Bob Weis and Tom Morris, among others, would still be working at flower street if it weren't for that DEMAND for quality.
Yes I believe a similar scenario occured with Cars Land and JL and once again, look at the results.

Attendance was busy, oh just yesterday...

Maybe you should go to the parks more and see for yourself.

Whats wrong with Maelstrom? I rode it several times and while I didn't go out of my way to nit-pick the attraction from point A to point B, it seemed fine to me. Everyone on the same boat as me enjoyed it.

Sorry for not seeing things people with too much time on their hands try to see, I was busy enjoying myself.

Jimmy Thick- Complain to complain. ;)

Did you see the pictures posted a couple of pages back??? Even the biggest Disney fan can't find those acceptable. No nit-picking needed, everything is right out in the open.

Why is that a terrible analogy? Wal Mart is not known for quality but more for cheap products produced from cheap labor. You smugly pointed out that WDW is always busy and that must mean people that point out the low quality of the past 15 years must be crazy. Your logic is extremely fallacious since it's obvious that just because lots of people frequent an establishment doesn't mean that establishment is top quality. Lots of people watch junky reality shows; does that mean they are good quality TV?

So Disney World is "cheap product"?

If the general public, beyond the doom and gloomers felt Disney World was a low quality product people would not be there. They just would not. People don't plunk down thousands of dollars to go to places where they would not feel they are not getting their monies worth.

If you or anyone is unhappy about the current state of Disney World yet continue to go there then you are doing nothing for these problems you are seeing because you're still putting money into Disney's pockets. I suggest you stop going.

I would be so bold as to say if all the D&G crowd stopped going to the parks all together, I really doubt Disney would care.

The whole "decling by degrees" concept is nothing more than a myth.

I'm there plenty.
And I'm sure it was busy yesterday. Shocking if it wasn't.
Doesn't change the fact that attendance and guest spend is down significantly.

Proof attendance and guest spending is down significantly please?

Ahhh...the old "If I Didn't See It, It Isn't There" attitude. Nice.

Iam just being honest to what I have seen first hand. I refuse to go on a ride and waste my time looking to make sure every detail is where its suppose to be. Thats absurd.

Next thing you know, you people will be counting the hairs on the pirate's leg and complaining about one not being there.

This is how the D&G come off to the general public.

Jimmy Thick- Should I even post the picture of my napkin with a Disney logo on it?

Seriously?
Have you been paying any attention at all?
Disney has acknowledged a drop in attendance publicly, and sources in the Team Disney building have confirmed significant declines in turnstile clicks, guest spending, and hotel occupancy.

Facts. Denial of them just makes you look silly.

Links to Disney publicly acknowledging attendance drops?

Haven't been around in a couple months, please enlighten me.

Jimmy Thick- Please.

Jimmy, I let my AP expire in March 2011. I live 6 miles from WDW and I now am only on Disney Property when I get paid to be there.

If thats how you feel, thats how you feel. I applaude you for your candor.

I feel different about the current state of Disney World, and feel its nowhere near this unsafe, "cheap", deplorible spot some people would make it out to be. If the general public, the vast majority felt the same way, the parks would be a ghost town. I have yet to see this. So I call shenanigans.

Jimmy Thick- As I see it of course.

I don't really give a crap if it's the most popular place on the planet. They are far from meeting my expectations. And with the ever increasing price it's really easy for me to walk away.

We spent this years vacation snorkeling off of Key Largo. Next June, Atlantis, Nassau Bahama

I agree that's it unfair to call the parks "unsafe" and "cheap", but it is sad the way the attractions and parks have been neglected. Epcot's Future World is a mess, Maelstrom is falling apart, Space Mountain is worn, Splash Mountain is falling apart, the Yeti is still broken, The Tree of Life is falling apart, a lot of DINOSAUR's effects aren't working, the classic Fantasyland dark-rides need major refurbishments, etc.

Just because the guests are still there do not make these problems "magically" disappear. They are real and need to be resolved.

I don't think anybody sees the parks that way. If anyone does, they are a very small minority of even the critical portion of the fan community.
99.9% of the so-called "doom and gloomers" just want to see the parks be as good as they can be, and living up to their own standards.

As I see it, of course....

There's two.
Overall attendance for US parks was up 3%, thanks to DCA's booming business. WDW was down.
Exact numbers aren't available, but the fact that WDW was significantly down has not been disputed by anyone with knowledge of the subject.

So it looks like Disney World attendance is down slightly from what I read in those articles, yet it says consumer spending is up 7 or 8%. It contradicts claims made on this forum about guest spending and attendance both being down. One washes the other so its a moot point to beging with. Like it or not, Disney World makes money.

Hand over fist.

WDW is getting by on its history and brand cachet right now. The general public is starting to grow tired of the same old stale offerings as evidenced by the declining attendance and lower per cap spending. Even without those indicators for someone that has been visiting WDW since opening not to see the declining by degrees either has to be working for TDO or has no perception of quality because they haven't seen it done properly (Japan).

I haven't spent a dime for WDW admission or merchandise in over 20 years.

Thats part of my point, its just a vacation destination. People should go to have a good time and now sweat the small stuff.

Jimmy Thick- If they did, gosh think of the fun they could have...

And this is nothing more than your opinion. People have been harping Disney Worlds decline for years. Its still there and still going strong.

Millions upon millions of people just can't be wrong.

Or are a few hundred, if that, right?

Jimmy Thick- Pie charts? Greater than less than?
