“Do you understand that there is a dark side to celebrity,” Rhodes said, “and that people that are famous sometimes need extra security?”

“Does that mean that they need Fiji water hand-delivered to them as they sit in court?” the man responded. ..."

That response from the man is wonderful! I'd like to buy him a real drink, not just a Fiji water. 🤣

This is the direction the new management is taking Disney, Ivy League Theme Parks for those who have money.
Consequentially in their push to keep out the low-income riff-raff they have inadvertently allowed the hi-income riff-raff into the park and cater to them. Sorry, Walt, it WAS such a great idea. Then could someone please tell me just exactly what the Kardashians do other than self-promote? Dr. Terminus did this so well without the internet and social media. This is the America the rest of the world sees. Billy Joe Armstrong was so correct.

If Disney is trying to cater to the ultra rich they do an incredibly bad job. Especially in the hotel and customer service department.

In my opinion theres something to be said about lowering the quality of an experience and raising prices. If you just raise prices then at least those who can afford it will still get their moneys worth.

The way Disney slowly lowers the quality of their product year after year while still raising prices is what concerns me.

This reminds me of a story Adam Sandler told many years ago on a late night TV show. It might have been back during his SNL days, but not sure. His story went something like,
He was waiting in line for HM. I can't remember if it was WDW or DL, but I assume the latter. He was waiting in line like all of us regular people do. Having a fun day at the park. A few people had seen through his disguise and recognized who he was, but no mob scene or any sort of wild rush. Nothing distracting or creating chaos.
Suddenly a couple security guards come out to the line and have him removed out of it. They usher him around and assign him some guard CM, telling him he doesn't have to wait in lines with "normal people". One security even joked You're not a peasant, Adam.
That entire incident never sat well with him, or the peasant "joke". He said he was having a good time being a real person with real people.

When I was a CM, I once saw Sandler at the park with his family. He was walking around wearing a giant pink princess hat. I don’t think he had a Plaid with him.

If we're talking about Celebrity parties at Disneyland I would never miss the opportunity to share this-

I just wish I could find the Al Lutz column on it but a few minutes of Googling pulled up nothing.

It’s very expensive. That type of service where you’re catered to in that way comes at a hefty price tag. I’m not exactly sure how much though. I do believe there are tiers. I have a friend who was a Plaid, I’d have to ask her.
At Disneyland, a VIP tour is $3k at the very least depending on season and how many hours you want to spend (minimum 7 hours).

Ya know, I have never had the experience of being ushered through lines ahead of other people and ya know I really wouldn't want that anyway. Much of being at a Disney park is experiencing the people and i think Adam Sandler had it right wanting to be around all of that because that is all part of it.

Haha I remember this. Wasn’t Al’s article titled “Lindsay: Fully Loaded”? I could be misremembering. Anyway, can’t find it either.
