Kardashians Go On Disneyland Rides Alone While Customers Fume!

The issue here is not that the useless Kardashian Klan hired a VIP guide, which anyone with a few thousand bucks can do. Riding Dumbo all by yourself is not part of the offered service.

The issue here is that the VIP guide and Fantasyland ride ops then cleared out the entire cycle of Dumbos and Teacups so that the Kardashians could ride all alone. While a couple hundred paying customers had to stand in line and watch the nearly empty rides cycle for people better than them. That would be infuriating for anyone, as the Social Media comments and videos taken from the angry queue demonstrate.

There is absolutely no mention on Disneyland's website regarding VIP guides that you will get to ride Dumbo, Teacups, Golden Zephyr, carousels, rocket jets, Luigi's, Maters, whirlwinds, swings, jellyfish, etc., etc. all alone while the peons wait in the queue and watch you take up an entire empty ride cycle all for yourself.

You can request to ride on your own. I was an attractions CM. I once let a family cut the entire line for Alice once because the ride broke down on them a year prior. Not every single thing allowed in the parks is written down in handbooks.

Disney has no problem shutting down the park early for businesses/people who pay to have it down. They’re not going to care about guests having to wait a couple of extra minutes so that others can have the ride all to themselves. It’s actually not that far out of the ordinary.

That what I thought. You re not paying for that service. It’s a privilege you get if you are a Celebrity, pay for the VIP guide AND are tacky enough to make that request.

Not sure why people aren't listening to your experience as a CM here.

I literally looked into this for the 60th, they certainly will do this for the regular "peon" guests if you pay. I can't remember the exact cost, but it was 7 hours for up to 10-12 people if I remember that part correctly. So its not just a "Kardshian" thing or even a celebrity thing.

Also at this point why are we even astonished at anything the Kardshian's do?

And lastly, as pointed out in the story, the Kardshian's show is now exclusively on Hulu, a Disney owned service. So this is free publicity for not only their show but for Hulu.

It’s not mentioned on the website because they don’t want you to do it. If you’re a celebrity they may encourage it and get you more security, but that’s about it.

I read:
Cancellation Policy
VIP Tours are non-refundable when cancelled 4 days or less prior to arrival.

....and thought. 'boy would that suck to pay for a tour and then not get a reservation.'

Then I went back and reread the fine print:

Theme Park Admission
  • Separate theme park admission and park reservation are both required to enter a park and for all Disneyland Resort Tours. Park admission is not included in the VIP Tour price. Disney Special Activities will obtain park reservations for Guests with confirmed VIP Tours.
It makes sense that the Kardashians wouldn't have to spend hours fighting with Disney reservations.

Disney doesn’t advertise a lot of things they don’t want you to do. If you send a letter to the right address you can get character signatures sent to you for free. If you ask for any recipe at any restaurant they’ll give it to you. These are things they offer but don’t really want you to know because it would be inefficient and hurt their business on a large scale, same applies here.

Thank you. The “rules” are definitely not black and white; they can be mended and bended for guests. As you stated, for this particular service, if you have the money, Disney will cater to your needs, including letting you ride something by yourself.

I was definitely not surprised to see that the Kardashians did this. They’re the Kardashians.

They’ll also give you a voucher for clothes under the right circumstances. Of course, they’re not going to tell guests that.

So are you saying if I buy the regular old VIP guide service and ask to do this they ll do it for me?

With a valid enough reason, probably. The Kardashians requesting to ride alone on the Teacups makes some sort of sense, even though they ironically drew more attention to themselves.

The reason for wanting to ride alone should make sense. We let a woman and her mother ride Pinocchio all by themselves once because the mother had issues getting in and out of the vehicle. We had to temporarily close the ride to other guests so they could enjoy themselves. And they didn’t have a Plaid with them. We also kept Pan open past closing for a family so their young daughter could ride. No Plaid.

This is what I mean when I say the “rules” can be mended and bended.

You can request to ride on your own. I was an attractions CM. I once let a family cut the entire line for Alice once because the ride broke down on them a year prior. Not every single thing allowed in the parks is written down in handbooks.

But you didn't hold back the entire queue for 3 minutes until that one family returned to the unload area in their caterpillar. You let a group who was inconvenienced get on the ride quickly, which should be regular service for a place that pretends it still has World Class Guest Service!.

That's nothing special, it's just basic good customer service.

The Kardashians here is something completely different...

So you are saying that when you were a Fantasyland ride op running the Teacups all alone, that a VIP guide could show up at the exit gate with a no-name upper class family from Chicago and if they'd wanted you would load that one family into two Teacups and not open the load gate for the 40 other people who'd been waiting in line for 20 minutes. And then you'd start the ride with only two Teacups of random people in them and make the entire queue stand there and watch? Then the VIP guide trots off with her Chicago family and you are left there alone to explain and deal with an entire queue of angry people?

What did you say to the queue? Did you explain "Oh, that's a VIP guide, they can do whatever they want cause they paid $2,000." and direct the upset customers to City Hall?

That seems... very odd. And quite daring. And nearly self-suicidal to have to deal with that situation. Even this queue of angry people on Social Media were furious with the Kardashians. I can't imagine how mad they'd be if it was just a no-name family from Chicago.

We aren't talking about private parties, which have been exceedingly rare since the 2000's. They used to happen constantly in the 20th century on off-season weekdays. Employee parties for the Gas Company, Boeing, Douglas Aircraft, Edison, supermarket chains, etc. all happened regularly.

When those big corporate private parties do happen now, and they are very rare, they are planned months in advance on a slow weeknight and the website notes that Disneyland closes at 8pm that day, while the party runs from 9pm to 1am.

This issue with letting the Kardashians go on rides all by themselves is entirely different than a private party or accomodating an inconvenienced family by loading them into a vehicle from the exit as the ride operates normally for everyone else.

So you are saying that when you were a Fantasyland ride op running the Teacups all alone, that a VIP guide could show up at the exit gate with a no-name upper class family from Chicago or Seattle and if they'd wanted you would load that one family into two Teacups and not open the load gate for the 40 other people who'd been waiting in line for 20 minutes. I just mentioned it, but I once closed the entire Pinocchio queue and emptied it out for a woman and her mother so they could ride comfortably.

Because she was mobility impaired or handicapped in some way, and you were afraid she would break down the ride by taking too long to get in or out?

That makes perfect sense, and stalling the queue for 3 minutes is preferable to breaking the ride down entirely for 30 minutes.

And most of the queue likely wouldn't have even realized, but those close enough to watch would have seen that the woman clearly had special needs or a physical handicap that required special care. I can't imagine anyone objecting if the woman had an obvious physical need.

The Kardashians are definitely mentally impaired, but they aren't "special needs", and the queue in the video was furious. As they had every right to be.

So it’s basically what I said then right? You have to buy the VIP guide service, be a celebrity or high profile guest and be a tacky . mickEblu can’t just buy the regular VIP guide and ask to do this no questions asked. I have to have some physical condition, disability or some extreme circumstance.

What I don’t understand about your example is why couldn’t you load other guests after she got in her vehicle and then stop the ride while she got out? If the reason was Solely about her difficulty getting in and out of the vehicle

Mobility issues. Some people would think it was unfair of me to kick everyone out of the queue and close the ride for two people, mobility issues or not. Can’t please everyone.

I can’t stand the Kardashians, but they did nothing out of the ordinary. If you want, feel free to make a complaint at City Hall during your next visit.

Nope, not necessarily. Sometimes you need a Plaid, sometimes you don’t. Again, it isn’t black and white. Yes, the reason should be pretty valid. The Kardashians has a valid reason, according to the CMs.

It was easier for me to have everyone leave and come back after they were finished with the ride. The ride would have likely shut down and I puke have had to evacuate everyone inside the ride. Better to just empty out the queue and have them come back later.

Curious why you’d have to close the ride and empty the queue?

I love how accommodating Disney is but that seems like an extreme and unnecessary action to take, I’ve stood in line a few times for several minutes watching a family and CMs get someone with a physical disability in or out of a ride vehicle, they didn’t have to close the whole ride to do it. Sure it caused a short delay but I honestly don’t think anyone in the queue cared, had they evacuated the whole ride that would have been very annoying though.
