Kali River Rapids in deplorable condition

Rode it yesterday and its just a joke. No mist going up the lift hill, no fire effects, not even the chainsaw sound effects were working. And didn't the log truck used to move like it was tumbling towards you? Well if so, that didn't work either. In essence, there is really only one show scene, which is the burning forest and everything in that scene is broken. I've seen a lot in my trips to Disney but I can't believe this attraction is allowed to be open in such condition.

Just about any rapids ride we have been on in any other park has been far superior to Kali River Rapids. It is a short ride with a minimal amount of rapids. When Disney built the ride they were too concerned with the ecological story line to pay attention to the ride itself. Or maybe they thought getting everyone soaked would spoil the Disney magic. As it is, it is pure happenstance if you happen to be sitting in the one spot on the ride where you WILL get very wet. We have ridden it and remained almost completely dry.

More along the lines of it got value engineered to death. The original concept for the Asia rapids ride was very impressive. Even just half of that original vision would have still been stunning.

But that's not what we ended up with sadly.

I have been to AK at least 7-8 times and have NEVER ridden this ride. Is it true you don't really get wet. If not, I may check it out just out of curiosity. Anything redeeming about it? Could it be expanded one day?

I've always felt this ride was too tame, too depressing with the destruction of the forests and too short. It seems like this attraction started off on a downhill slide and over the years has been picking up speed in that downward direction.

After the fire burning area of the ride, there is a significant drop. If you are on the downward/lower side of the boat/raft, you will get drenched. Additionally on the way down, the boat/raft tends to rotate, so you may think you are safe from getting drenched when the drop starts and then find you are on the bottom when reaching the bottom of the drop.

What is sad is that AK is really one of the best themed immersive parks, and a ride like this that could travel through the park would be amazing if done right. Dollywoods is longer and I like how it travels through the area, I wish this ride did this. I know the story was amazing, but if the effects aren't working the ride would really be lacking

I was just there about 3 weeks ago...I can vouch for some of this...

The worst part to me were the actual boats themselves...they be looking a little rough...and not themed rough...like...wear and tear rough...like...time to rehab for a month or so...

Our little Six Flags park 10 minutes down the interstate has a 30 year old Rapids ride that is 2000x better.

Roaring Rapids (White Water Rampage to us SFGAm Fans or Alums) has had many many effects not working (Water Cannons, Finale Water fall at full flow) especially the haunted cemetary within the Caverns sequence since the 80's has no strobes or AA's popping up like it use too..

Every time I go on this ride, I get absolutely soaked. I don't have to be in a seat that ends up at the bottom of the big drop, either. Just once, I'd love to go on it and not have to wring out my shirt and shorts after exiting the ride.

I have ridden it once. We're not allowed to speak of it in my house after that one experience.

It was on our honeymoon. The wife and I made it the first ride of the day. As we boarded, Mindy asked me where to sit to stay dry. Not knowing anything about the ride, I suggested sitting in whichever seat appeared to be driest. I quickly realized that wasn't going to work because the boats spin. So who gets wet is completely random.

Of course Mindy ended up being the one person who got completely soaked. I got a little spray off of her. Everyone else was dry as a bone. She looked like she had been drowned. People were pointing at her and laughing. As we exited the ride, we got the same reaction. She was miserable. We ended up heading right back to the bus to go back to AKL and dry off.

Bad ride. But at least I got a funny story out of it.
