I'm getting tired of all this Hennie v. Speck crap in all the postings. I have never seen Speck have an issue with anyone like this before.

Gentlemen, just agree to disagree, shake hands and let it ALL go!

This spat is going on in more than one thread as well.
Hennie, many people have answered the questions that you continue to direct at Speck. It is obvious that either 1) you don't read posts pertaining to your questions or 2) you are purposely needling Speck. Take it to a PM. No one here is interested in this drama.

For Matrix however, I believe the original was presented as a standalone (yes with the story thread in the brothers mind continuing). Only after the success of the first were the second and third written and filmed (together).

actually the matrix was written as a trilogy, not necesarily as one story.., the movie was going to be able to stand alone on one film just incase of bad sales and profits...but since it didnt, they were able to continue and finish the trilogy... i thought i would inform you..., but there are many many sequels that are succesful that arent written at the same time...for instance, look at shrek 2, wat about Toy Story 2? these things were not made with the originals yet they were alot more popular than the originals..., wat about the indiana jones films? those were not made with the original, yet the sequels were AWESOME...there are many examples, disney just sucks at coming up with good ideas for sequels these days, they try to draw too much from the actual original film and dont focus enough on a creative story..., its kinda sad, but once a movies done and its not set up to have a sequel...DONT MAKE A SEQUEL..
and one more thing, i wish i could find the exact quote but isnt it walt disney who once said that he hated sequels, and was always looking for new ideas and new ways to entertain his audiences, he wanted to focus on the new...not simbas pride, or return of jafar....who gives a rats ______? i guess not america...cuz the sales sure didnt show success, i think disney really does have something with this new animation, if only they created original stories and didnt base there movies off old fairy tales like they have for this generation, its time to start making new things... i dont think chicken little will be the movie to test there animation department...

But the sales of the sequels do show success.....they make a ton of money selling these DVDs...and they don't cost a lot to make.....they are a cash cow.

Also, how many of the Walt Disney created films were "original stories"....the vast majority were based on books and old tales from way back when......he was not the story originator for most of the classics.

Exactly! On both points:)

Also, there are plenty of other Fairy Tales available that have not been marketed since the Grimm Brothers completed them. There is plenty of material out there to work with and to draw from. Originals would be great as well...whatever works

Just for the record EVERYONE:

I HAVE NO GRUDGES WITH ANYONE HERE OR ELSEWHERE.

DO I CHOOSE TO DISAGREE WITH PEOPLE ON ISSUES SOMETIMES? YES. DO I LABEL THEM BY CALLING THEM THINGS LIKE BIBLE-THUMPER, RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE, ETC. ETC? NO. JUST BECAUSE I VIGOUROUSLY DISAGREE WITH SOMEONES VIEWS DOES NOT MAKE ME A BAD PERSON. IT MAKES ME A FREE-THINKING AMERICAN CITIZEN, FREE TO EXPRESS MY VIEWS, AS DO ALL OF YOU HERE ON MANY, MANY DISNEY SUBJECTS. THE PROBLEM HERE PEOPLE ISN'T ME. IT'S THOSE WHO, BECAUSE I DON'T AGREE WITH THEM, CHOOSE TO LABEL ME, ATTACK ME, OR JUST BE PLAIN HATEFUL.

NOW, ALL I HAVE DONE HERE IS TO DISAGREE WITH A VIEW ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR SUBJECT. AND IF I HAPPEN TO DIRECT THOSE COMMENTS TOWARD ONE OR TWO PEOPLE, GUESS WHAT? IT'S BECAUSE THAT'S WHO I AM TALKING TO. NOT YOU, BUT THEM. SO, IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU ARE READING, DON'T READ IT.

Now, If I may, I'd like to return to the original subject of this thread: Why not Pixar anymore. I do believe that egos do play a very large role in all of this, and I am curious to know what the original contract between the two said about splits on gates, merchandise, content, etc.

anyone out there with info on this?

Okay, I don't know where the whole religious-politico labeling came from but you need to chill out and lay off the caps. No one attacked you. I don't know where you are getting that idea. Nobody said you are a bad person, what we did say is that you appear to be ignoring the statements being made and instead are instigating someone to try and upset them. Not saying that's the case, just saying what myself, and others see.

I'm sorry. I was a bit confused when I saw this thread due to where it's posted. It's a very interesting topic, but would it not have been better to have posted this in the movies section so as not to confuse people?

I've had this happen to me before. I once posted a topic about Whale Watcher here during last year's Oscars and people were so kind to inform me I had posted in the wrong place. They helpfully pointed out where it should have gone and I asked the moderator to move the thread for me. People here are so kind and helpful and I've always felt welcomed.
