Ooooor, you could look into renting DVC points from DVC owners who aren't using their points this year. I'm paying $175/night in a studio at Animal Kingdom Villas/Kidani. You need to google DVC rentals or go to the DVC board here. I think I recently saw a thread where people were naming reputable rental brokers. Seriously. You could end up in a deluxe resort with a kitchenette or kitchen, possibly in-unit washer & dryer, and plenty of space to feel at home for as much or less than a mod or value resort. You're guaranteed to beat Disney's rates on those same villas by a long shot.

How does that work? You are paying someone directly for their points? So making sure you get an honest person is the most important thing, right? You can use the points wherever you want? Any resort?

Take some time to read up on the websites of companies who arrange the points rentals. There's companies that owners go to in order to get their points rented out. The company, or broker, will rent you the points you need for around $13-$14 per point but they pay the owner $10 per point keeping a small portion per point for themselves. There's several reputable companies/brokers if you do a web search. They'll tell you everything you need to know. Availability varies by what you need, what inventory they have, and time before travel. If you're traveling next June now would be a great time to get your ducks in a row to get your desired resort because owners can book their home resorts 11 months out. If you rent points for a resort other than the owner's home resort the availability is more limited because that can't be booked until 7 months out. I know it can be confusing, that's why it'd be best to go to the companies' websites and check out their FAQs. Yes, to some extent there is risk but if you use a company/broker they have agreements and other documents that both the owner and you have to sign off on so it lends more peace of mind. Hope I've not confused you too bad! ;)

You could also try the All Star Family suites at All Star Music resort. We have stayed there in the suites several times and they are really nice rooms. There is a very nice selection for meals at the food court.
Or if you like to camp and don't want to stay in a tent, there are local company's that rent out RVs and set them all up for you right at Fort Wilderness. I think you can book a pop up camper for around $100.00/per night and then you would have your site fee for a full hook up site you would probably come in around $65.00 per night. The two together would put you under your budget.

Thanks for the idea about All star family suites. I will look into that. We camp enough in Texas to know that we don't want a pop up at Disney. Thanks for the suggestion, tho. I'd much rather stay on property at a value resort or go off property and save a lot. I appreciate the suggestions!

I just went through all of our paperwork and am not seeing a bounceback offer. What does it look like?
There was/is a very cute booklet about 4x11 called Be Our Guest Guide. In the middle of the booklet, there is a tear-out page with the booking code. It says you must book before you check out. It's blue whereas the other pages have white backgrounds.

DIdn't get a bounce-back offer that I'm aware of. We're looking around $200 a night just so that we can have a few more days in the parks. We're going in the summer. Unfortunately, that's the only time I can take off (teacher). So we'll always be hot and in crowded parks. No worries. It worked out well this time, and I'm sure it will again next year. Thanks for the suggestions.
Hello fellow teacher!;) I always look for discounts too. Not many on the months I can go.:( Our June 9-14 trip this year we got the 30% off room rate, and that worked out well ( but no the weather & the crowds).;)
Look into the moderate hotels: Port Orleans FQ or RS. They're beautiful and sometimes less than 200$ a night. Caribbean Beach resort is nice too and even a standard room at Coronado Springs!;) Happy Planning!:D

Doesn't matter so much where we stay as long as it's worth the money. I'm a teacher, and as such, we are on a tight vacation budget. We're driving to save $1200 on airfare, and trying to get the most days and nights we can get on our limited funds. Wish we could do a very nice place, but we will be happy to get anywhere on property!
We used to drive to save $ too, but once we had flown OMG! We will never drive again ( 14 hours vs. 2 hour flight.). We find we like more "park time" as we get there early, check in ( room not ready) go to the park and come back around 3pm. They text you when room is ready.:D Likewise we get some extra park time before we leave. Love love love Disney's Magical Express!:D

We were able to save some extra $$$ and stay at Saratoga Springs! We had a studio room ( 2 adults 2 kids) dining plan and 4 day MYW ( not park hopper) tickets. It was my favorite resort so far next to Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian.;) I'm not sure how much $$$ you're willing to spend, but the rack rate is 400$ per night +. We got ours for 280$ per night through WDW Travel Co. airfare and all!:D I'm hoping they will do another spring/summer offer again for 2014.;)

Nah, it's all good. I have enough time to decide and figure out what we can do. I really appreciate everybody taking time to respond and give me some great suggestions. I really do!

We like the moderate resorts and most of the time you can find rooms for $200.00 a night and sometimes cheaper. Plus PORS can sleep 5 in the bayou rooms.

Maybe you'd like to consider buying into the Disney Vacation Club. I highly recommend it. You pay it off over the long run and it gives you years of vacations in WDW, as well as Disneyland, Hawaii, South Carolina, and Vero Beach, Florida. You decide when, where, how often, and how long to vacation. Plus there's a 10% discount on merchandise as well as other discounts. All studios come with a kitchenette so you can eat in the room, and there are also larger rooms, such as the one bedrooms which have a full kitchen.

Other resorts: It seems you are looking for a moderate resort for this price range. Port Orleans is really nice. It's been years since I've stayed there, but I remember loving it. That would be my pick for a moderate. Coronado Springs is also really nice.

I love Port Orleans Riverside. It's a moderate, and has a great atmosphere. If you want to look at pictures of the resorts, I'd say don't look at the official Disney website. Their pictures are all Photoshopped, and they look so great no matter what. I'd go to a site like allears.net and see what fits your liking the best. With your price point, a moderate or value is the best bet.
