Punkss: no offense, but can you edit your post and fix the "communications" spelling?

I just say no when they ask about pictures if we're not interested, but I've never noticed the "hard sell". In fact, we usually have fun with the photographers and they always take our pictures with OUR camera if we want. We've bought a couple of their pictures, but rarely even go look at them.

Quick story... We arrived at MK on our last morning and was happily drinking in the atmosphere of Main Street. A really "perky" gal asked if we wanted a picture. I said sure. After she took the picture with both our cameras, I said "your turn!". I took her picture and she posed as big as life. It was great.

I guess the reason for the long post is this. If you joke around with them and not bristle at the attempts to take a picture, you may get a little magic. Plus, give them your camera. It's free!

Still the other comments still stand, i hate hard selling.

Urgh photographers drive me nuts
we didn't notice them so much in WDW but every time we go to DLP they appear, on the walkway between Disney Village and the park entrances, I think it's something to do with the land as there are usually cruddy little stalls with tacky french souvenirs available too
and they just hold up their stone age Polaroid camera's and yell "picture"
I've learnt to deal with them by pulling my digital camera out and snapping them as they hold up the camera, then continuing to walk to the park
they usually just stand looking at us as if we're crazy

The photographers have never been rude to me, but some of these stories are outrageous. If there is anything other than a polite offer that is dropped when I politely decline, then I will complain (this includes any comments about the war). People don't want to be hit with politics like this at WDW. Disney needs to be as careful as their reputation claims when allowing employees from their own company to interact with guests, let alone another company's.

As for the cart in the World of Disney store... I'm a little confused. Was it a permanent thing that doesn't match, or something from the back room that had been wheeled out there and left? Were the pens for sale?

That DVD sounds awesome, I wasn't aware there were actually 2 WDW DVDs for sale in the parks! Ah, my wallet's crying.

I've never seen a real life vulture, so it might be a treat. Hopefully they won't all be gone. They should just teach them to sing "We're Your Friends" and leave them there :p

It was just a white cart with wheels with a cheap Mickey sticker and black marker on the side, and yes, the pins and other merchandise were for sale. Looked like it had just been wheeled from a back room and stuck in the middle of the floor.

And I think the DVD I got is from last year, just to clarify. I thought it was new when I first saw it and picked it up, but it's still pretty good, at any rate (the Studios segment is pretty corny and uneven, but the other three make up for it).

Was the cart maybe there for stocking purposes? Maybe someone was stocking the floor and had to answer the phone or a question or something. I agree that the cart shouldn't just be left there but maybe there is an explanation. When I was a cp, that is kind of what our stocking carts looked like, except they were gray. (I think, my program ended 2 years ago:cry: )

I would have thought so, too, except the words on the side were "Villians Room -- Do Not Remove."

From that, I gather that the cart was there to keep the merchandise on the floor in lieu of a regular table or display area.

The problem with the photographers is this: They are commissioned sales people.

My best freind from High School had this job at another park in the midwest. He made a normal minimum wage and received additional compensation for each roll of film he turned in each day. In the modern age, I image it is a per digital picture comission.

He did quite well for a college summer job often times making more than I did even though my rate of pay was higher at the park.

The easiest thing to do is let them take the picture and then walk on and ditch the card in the nearest rubbish bin.

That seems like really bad show. I hope it's not permanent or there in July when I go. The only other idea I have is that maybe since the store is so large, each area has its own stock cart and maybe that's how they keep other rooms from "borrowing" the cart.

Yeah, that's possible, too. Whatever the reason, it caught my eye. I wouldn't think it would be permanent, but it was an interesting sight.

Ummmmmmmmmmm, we never leave carts on the floor sweetheart, I am sure it was simply a Cast Member had to go take care of something, a guest perhaps and had to leave the cart there for a few, no big.

I was at WDW last week and the photographers approached me a couple times, but I just simply say "Already got one" and keep walking.

A couple times when I actually wanted a picture, like in front of the castle, I had to go up to a photographer and ask them to take it.

It seemed like the photographers were pushier at Universal, though. -Steph
