Just back from WDW, with only one complaint.

Wife and I just returned from the greatest place on earth. But for the frist time since I have gone to disney I have one complaint. I have read from other posters that they feel the dining plans have ruined the dining experience. Big crowds, less quality food, rude wait staff and so forth.

I had really never had a bad dining experience until out last trip. We were dining a Jiko for the first time ever. The food was OK, but it had flavors that I am glad I tried, but I don't think we will return. The jist of the story is that I think we were cutting into our waiters time by sitting at his table. He brought us water then we only saw him again to order and him bringing the check. He ignored us the rest of the time. I had to ask a hostess for refills of water. And it wasn't like it was just us he was rude to. The people next to us made the mistake of asking about a certain dish. He exhaled very deeply and responded very sarcasticaly.

Overall we had a fantastic time. Planning our next trip shortly.

Funny but, we get a lot of that at Disney, espescially Rainforest Cafe for some reason? It seems you have a greeter and a seater. You get a waiter and a waterboy. Then everybody disappears until you get hungry for dessert? I mean, where the heck is my check!? Anyways, thats my usual experience.

Well that you can't really blame Disney for seeing as Disney does not operate either Rainforest Cafe that is on Disney property. They are both owned and operated by the same company that is building the new Yak and Yeti restaurant at AK.

Luckily, the only place where we experienced less than average wait staff was at PH.

Us, too. We made a promise this time that no matter what we are not going back there. We tried it over and over thinking every time it will get better, but nothing different. The food is not worth it either.

I was waiting to purchase a cup of coffee at the Grand Floridian cafe/cafeteria place while this woman in front of me and the cashier went round and round about how what she had laid out in front of him on two trays was not all included in the plan. I dont know who was right, nor did I care, it was just incredibly annoying how long it took for them to come to terms so i could finally pay for this one item with CASH. Quickie quickie lickety split mine was.

Jiko was the problem we had, but it wasn't terrible. The waiter was just rude. Other then that all the other dining we had was fantastic. Yachtsman, citricos, wispering canyon, blue zoo were all great. The waiter we had at Citricos was so great our table tipped him an extra $20 on top of what he got from the dining plan. Great experience.

PH was the worst experience I had at the World last year. The food was cold and gross, never saw the waiter except to order and to get the check. I will never go back.

I had great experiences everywhere else. Narcoosees, Mama Melrose's, and the steakhouse inside the Contemporary all had great food and service.

Planet Hollywood's service was terrible and my gf by the end of the night was calling it Planet Tackywood like we were stuck in 1980 something with the leather table clothes, leatherskin wallpaper and such.

The food was probably the best meal we had all week but between the service and the music blasting and the feeling of being shoved in like sardines we probably won't be going back very soon.

We recently booked our Feb. trip through AAA and it says that we will receive a $15 voucher for Planet Hollywood. Is this worth our time then? We aren't on the dining plan so any discounts are appealing to us but not if it isn't a good experience. Especially if the wait staff are rude.

I think it's more hit-and-miss at Planet Hollywood than other WDW restaurants. I personally don't use PH vouchers when I'm given them, but mainly because it's too loud in the restaurant. The two times I have eaten there the service was acceptable and the food good. My issue was not being able to converse without yelling.

We've used the vouchers the last two times we went... I would have rathered spent both meals @ the All-star dining area and had another foot long hotdog... ;)

The food was only OK, the waitress this last time was a tool...

We're bringing newbies this time (14 days away) though, and they'll probably want to go... Guess we'll give it one more shot... 3rd times the charm?!? :D

I guess as long as we know what we're getting into by going there it may not be too bad. Maybe they will suprise us. Where ever we eat we like to tip well for good service, and if the service is bad...it's reflected in the tip.

Why do people keep going to Planet Hollywood?
Why do you think they had to shut down most of their restaurants?
'Cause they weren't that great...

Besides, with all of the other unique dining places at Disney, why go to a chain place? i.e., Planet Hollywood, Rainforest, Big River, McDonalds... :hurl:

Planet Hollywood is bad no matter what city/place you visit it at IMHO, even if the food was 100% free I wouldn't go.:hurl::hurl::hurl:
