I was there 12/1-12/7 and those kids were a NIGHTMARE!!!! The parents/chaperon's were NO BETTER! The parents were encouraging these bits of crap to walk past peoples rooms at 7:30am screaming "HERE WE GO WILDCATS HERE WE GO!!!" meanwhile the parents are banging maracas!

Then in the evening they take their chairs out of the rooms, sit them right in front of your window and do each others hair for the next day, it was HORRENDOUS!

They should be ashamed of themselves! But the sad thing is, they aren't.

That's why we never stay in any hotel that will be hosting Pop Warner. It's why we moved from FQ to the Poly.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying that people in ECVs get frustrated and eventually get tired of people knowingly cutting them off so yes, they will get rude at times, but no more rude than the people who look right at them as they walk right in front of the ECV, or refuse to let the ECV through so they don't get caught in the trolley tracks.

IM sure they do.

However how do you account for the high speed granny that almost mowed my youngest down outside Epcot ( no crowd involved) owing to her inability to corner properly at the speed she was travelling. Or the gentleman (lose use of term) who tried to force his way through the crowd at Mexico to get tpo the railing so he could watch Illuminations from the comfort of his chair. A chair he seemed to manage without when no parting of the crowd happened.

However I feel that the Nimitz class stroller is by far the greatest scourge currently at Disney, and its only a matter of time before an accident happens, which may be what it will take for Disney to do something about dangerous walkways

This makes me rethink my wish to go to the World during the holidays...
Still go during the holidays. I think it is still the best time to go. Pop warner is just one week. You can experience the "holiday magic" pretty much from Nov. 1st through Christmas so there is plenty of time for a visit!

We were there from the 4th thru the 11th and, like 2007, had little trouble with the Pop Warner kids and we stayed @ Sports in 2007 and Pop Century this year.

However…..the cheerleader groups were absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!!
I have never seen such a poorly controlled group of kids in my life. They are doing their routines, constantly texting and running into people in the queues. IMO, they are by far most poorly behaved bunch out of the kid groups. We said something to the chaperones in the queue of POTC and they pretty much blew us off and nothing changed!!!! :fork:

Also, while the Brazilian groups are ridiculously absurd and wouldn’t know how to act if you paid them, hands down however the worst was a group (of predominantly girls) from Argentina that we encountered @ Planet Hollywood on the 7th and then @ DHS on the 8th. The male “organizers” were inciting them at every turn. It became a HUGE disruption @ Lights, Motors, Action @ the 4:10 show that 4-5 cast members had to get involved and be near the group the entire show to stop the “chaperones” from starting it up again because they started in 3-4 different times after being told to stop. While waiting before the show, they were chanting so loud that my fiancée and I couldn’t talk to each other without yelling. The chanting is somewhat tolerable but they were stomping their feet too and a lot of people around us, and us included, were concerned the bleachers may collapse.

I spent one night last Friday at Port Orleans and at DTD and had to deal with the cheerleaders. I think my next visit I'll have to somehow find the schedule for these awful events and make certain I'm not there then. I got so sick of hearing the cheer squads throwing out their cheers where ever they were as if we cared at all what they were doing.

I couldn't believe that in the middle of a restaurant the chaperones told their kids to stand up and start cheering about how they were the Jaguars as if anybody in the restaurant wanted to hear it. And they didn't just do it once, they did it at least 5-10 times and then the parents would all cheer like it was something fantastic that they'd just done.

I get it, you can clap and recite words together very loudly, you must be proud. The worst however was when I woke up at 1:30 AM at Port Orleans to hear them outside my room cheering and screaming. I thought I'd get away from them by staying at a moderate, I was wrong.

In my opinion there is nothing worse that Brazilian Tour groups but the Pop Warner Kids were close. We got back on Thursday the 10th and I have to say that any experience I had with them was not great and usually very annoying.

Pumba, I realize you had a bad experience with an ECV, more than one. In fact my mom got run over by an oriental lady a few years ago in MK because she was going jackrabbit speed down Main Street and she couldn't stop until she ran into my mom's ankles. All I'm trying to get across is that not every ECV rider out there is out to run over everyone and yet people seem to paint all ECV riders with the same brush saying that they are all rude and pushy and try to run people over. Now granted I got tired of nearly getting ejected out of the ECV everytime someone knowingly cut in front of me with less than an inch to spare and I gave up trying to avoid those particular people, unless it was a child who didn't know better, but for the most part I tried to avoid running into people. Just know that not all ECV riders are out to run you over. And all those excessively obese people using the ECVs don't get to cut the line. We saw someone just like this try to cut in front of me at Buzz Lightyear as the CM was writing me a return pass and they were told they had to park the ECV and WALK through the line. I did not and received the pass due to having a walking cast on my foot. And I can't tell you how many people looked at me as if I was faking the cast.

Port Orleans Riverside is one of the resorts that Pop Warner is allowed to book into as teams and French Quarter is the overflow resort for these bookings. We were due to stay at French Quarter but we opted to move to the Poly for our trip Dec 1-9. If you travel during Pop Warner you need to avoid the All Stars and Port Orleans as these are the resorts that Pop Warner is always booked into.

They've also been at Caribbean in the past.

This was something I was unaware of. I certainly think its something Disney should advertise a bit more so guests are aware. That's probably the reason I managed to get the Port Orleans room so cheap. 89 dollars is a very low rate for a Moderate resort.

The rumour circulating this year was that the Moderate was going to be Coronado Springs, which is why we booked into POFQ. I started watching the POP Warner website for their Championship package information, which tells you which hotels they are staying at. Once that was available, I saw that they were staying at POR for their moderate and I heard on another board that FQ was the overflow, we decided to move resorts and grabbed the first deluxe room that was available with our free dining package, it just happened to be at the Poly. We weren't Pop Warner free as there were cheer 'families' but no full teams staying there, just individual families so there was no way the kids could get out of control.

My family and I just returned from a stay at the Caribbean Resort, from 12-5 to 12-12, and I will emphatically state that those who say that the Pop Warner/ Cheerleading crews have little impact on the parks are dead wrong!!

On our first day (Saturday 12-5) we had a 4:30 pm reservation at Liberty Tree. Magic Kingdom was packed and a good number of those were wearing some sort of P.W. jackets, jerseys or cheerleading paraphernalia. As I was heading toward the restroom, I had to pass the restaurant entrance and I observed a male engaged in a loud conversation (on his part) with a C.M. He was accompanied by about 12 or so youths wearing black jackets. I heard the male state that the only reason his group was being denied entrance into the restaurant was because of their “color” The C.M. replied that everyone had to have a reservation for dinner. I kept going to my destination and don’t know how this little drama played out.

The next morning (Sunday 12-6), at about 5:30 am, (I am a early riser) I was taking a stroll down the pathways to get a coffee (unfortunately I didn’t know that the O. P. R. did not open until 6:30 am), I heard a leather lunged adolescent boy screaming something off in the distance. This was followed by what appeared to be cheers from a group of young females from the same general area. 5:30 am ???

Later that evening, while at Epcot, I was about 20 yards away from the area that use to have the L.O.W., by the Christmas tree. A photopass photographer was setting up to take the photo of a solo middle age female. About 15 feet away, a group of 10 or so teenage females wearing same colored jackets (cheerleading jackets) started a chant of 1 - 2 –3 and proceeded to run into the woman, knocking her over and then run off into the world section of Epcot laughing and hooting hysterically.

I do agree with a previous observation that the cheerleaders were far far more obnoxious than the P.W. players.

About Wednesday (12-9) the South American groups hit the parks. I witnessed hoards of like clothed groups following banner-carrying individuals. I saw an individual, with the banner, stand in a queue and then blow a whistle, at which point about 20 or so of the like clothed folks would cut in front of everyone and join the banner carrying, whistle blowing idiot.

I observed the above behavior at various times, in some form or other, throughout the remainder of our stay.

I will say that we will never, ever, ever book a trip at WDW the first week of December again. Oh, and the days of this week being a light time are over (yeah, I know, it's not July but having been there many December's before, it has changed!!!):(:(:(

After reading some of these post's, I'm really, really not sure now about going the end of Nov to beginning of Dec next year. We have never seen WDW with all the holiday decorations up and that's our main reason for going. I just got a pin code for next year. I was going to put a deposit down today. Just don't know.
Just emailed Disney about my concern. Don't think it will help but at least they know many of us are concerned.

Last year was our first visit at this time, it was heaving, but looked great. Things over the Thanksgiving weekend fluctuated between hellish to tolerable if you used FP correctly and had dining reservations.

This year the weather was warmer but the parks seemed even more crowded. We switched to Universal over the Thanksgiving weekend and it too was busy but the Express pass that came with the room made it a far better experience.

I also felt that the MVMCP had been devalued by some of the show changes and it too was busy. The normal thining out after fireworks never happened and while enjoyable it just wasnt great.

I think you have to go to see the parks in their finery, but I wont be rushing back at this time of year for a long time.

We did the same thing this year, went the week before Thanksgiving, left the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The first week was great, crowds were minimal, however from Saturday to Tuesday the crowds were quite large, I don't think I have ever seen IASW with a 45 minute wait. Also MVMCP was nice however the show changes made this event much less of a value than in years past. We will not be returning this time of year any time soon.

Also Pumbas - I am still laughing at your Nimitz class stroller comment, I saw and photographed a family trying to cram one of those things onto a full bus. Is it me or are strollers getting bigger? :D
