Just Back and a few complaints

I honestly have not seen them anywhere but at Disney World.

I think it takes an extremely lazy, self obsessed person to not care at all about how what they are doing impacts others. Especially in a place where the other people are not able to easily move away from you. Apparently it is sooo hard to be considerate of those around you.
I agree. But, while on vacation, people often feel their actions are without consequences. It's the idea that they've paid for it so they should enjoy it however they want, which, I wholeheartedly disagree with.

Picture of the US's smallest nuclear weapon, just in case someone tries it...

And if you want to feel even less secure, just remember that the soviets developed nuclear bullets that could be fired from a rifle. Though they had to be kept in a liquid nitrogen type cooling system to keep them from degrading before being used... so if you see anyone with a bag that is so cold on one spot that ice is forming look out they might be some nutty terrorist with old soviet nuclear bullets.... But take heart that they were also prone to exploding in the gun when fired so there is a good chance they would eliminate the terrorist.

They sell them at amusement parks, festivals, parks, weekend summer events... kids run around with bubbles and no one is seemingly bothered by it.

This thread is the first time when I’ve ever heard people say they’re upset- at little bubbles. :hilarious:

Recently visited and think the bag searches are all wrong. Checking all the wrong stuff. Bags need to go through scanners like most arenas and some other theme parks.

Hand searching is slow and definitely not thorough enough to look for real items that could cause harm.

WDW security need to ring the changes.

I have the feeling this is simply a cost thing. The number of scanners they would have to buy for all of their check points would be very expensive. And they would still have to hand search anything suspicious. OTOH, training security for hand searches is likely done in a single training session - comparatively cheap. Not saying you're wrong, though.

2. Bag check is getting bad. Went to MK and thru bag check at T&T and took monorail over to Epcot (Still in secured area) and had to go thru bag check again. Not a very efficient procedure. Some bag checkers were fast and some checked everything. Opening up every item (small eyeglass case) opening up see thru baggies of RX. Looking for small compartments/zippers in a small drawstring bag. A few times my family of 6 could go thru another checker with their bags and be standing there waiting for me to get finished. one bag should not take that long.
Wouldn't you rather they do that and ensure safety then allow someone to walk into the park potentially concealing a knife in said glasses case or small compartments?

And yet, you were not permanently scarred from having to play with them away from your family, were you?

Not scarred at all. In fact, if I got any of those big bubbles where my Grandma was drinking her coffee and it got on her glasses or in her drink, the bubble maker would've been taken away not to be seen again for a while LOL. Like I said in an earlier post, I love bubbles out in the open where people can avoid them so they don't get in eyes, glasses, food, etc. I was raised to be considerate of others. People don't like others smoking in lines or enclosed places, vaping machines, strong perfumes and colognes, selfie sticks, body odor, etc. There's a long list of things that annoy other people even if it doesn't annoy you personally. And yes, bubbles is the least obnoxious thing I can think of in that list but that still doesn't negate the painful, red eye I experienced after I got a bubble in it while waiting in line :) It's so simple to just be considerate of others when you're in an enclosed space. Put away your bubble guns, don't smoke, and please for goodness sakes wear deodorant!!! But use that bubble gun with enthusiasm once you get back in the open LOL.

I honestly can’t imagine being in a place as amazing as Disney and being bothered by... bubbles. I just got back from 2 weeks there and LOVED the bubbles!

Okay I fully understand why somebody wouldn’t want them being blown into their food, but seriously who can be upset by walking through magic kingdom in a cloud of bubbles. Where’s the magic gone?!

If Disney do read these forums like people say they do, I’m sure they’ll be celebrating that the main issue they’re being scrutinised for on this thread is kids playing with bubbles. That’s quite the achievement.

I am the original poster here and did not expect this much reaction to the thread. But the 2 times i was annoyed with the bubble makers were.
1)trying to eat lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus (indoors) and a small kids at the table next to us was just mashing down on the bubble wand and the parents were too busy playing on their phones to look up.
2) waiting in line at POTC also indoors but not too confined 2 younger kids were playing with them as if they were light sabers (I know cute) but 2 of the wands going at the same time can put out a ton of bubbles indoors.
Outside it is not too much of a problem, but it is a cheap way to get parents to entertain their kids so they don't have to.

Inside a restaurant is inappropriate, IMO.

Bubbles inside shouldn’t happen.

However, this parent judgement on bubble wands is the strangest thing.. maybe parents buy the bubble wand for their kids because the kid likes bubbles?.,.and is at Disney?...and the parents enjoy seeing their kids smile?..especially when they’re that young to get excited by something like bubbles,( which won’t last forever)..?

But yeah, let’s just go with ‘Lazy Parents’ instead.

1. Parents need to check their kids w those things, no doubt. Instead they likely get them because, "MOM PLEEEEEEEZ!!!" and to keep their minds occupied so they aren't crying about...not getting a bubble maker? That said, they really haven't been an issue to me. I hate much more the migraine inducing LED light fans that get shined in my face during a not at all peaceful ride in a transportation bus at midnight.

2. Not to get all political, but blame the NRA gun humpers, and all the recent gun violence for this inconvenience. They have to create separate security for the monorail and the park entrances, which is understandably not fun but necessary. I agree that there should be a dedicated line for monorail exiters instead of making them go thru a second screening with the bus/parking lot people, but I assume WDW is still ironing out the kinks in their policies. It is time consuming, but I think after Pulse nightclub and the Vegas tragedy WDW decided to get proactive with their policies, and I am fine w that, for the peace of mind of not having to worry nearly as much about mass violence.

It is a bit of a hassle, and does funnel masses of people into more narrow passages, but unfortunately it's the world we live in right now. At least once you are inside the gates you can mostly forget about it, and just enjoy the sensation of bubbles hitting you in the face!

I’m fairly certain that almost every amusement park and sports stadium in the USA does have a bag check/security. Most stadiums even require clear bags.

when the Epcot front entrance is updated, the second security terminal will not exist for those coming off the monorail.. it sucks, but it is currently that way due to the infrastructure they currently have

Lol this is the internet, 21. Ive learned that on this site everyone's kid is kind, careful, never ever has anything so tacky as a meltdown and their parental style is one to emulated and all other parents are lazy.
That's why they can be judgemental.

I forget who’s trip report it was, but someone’s kid had a bubble wand, and I mentioned how I never let my kid have one.
My reasons aren’t because I was worried they would annoy other people.. it was because I didn’t want to be stuck carrying it with everything else, so that actually makes me the lazy parent.lol.

I have bought lightsabers and the spinning light toys, and light up swords etc at Disney and other amusement parks.. not once did I think “I don’t want to talk to my kid, so I’ll buy him this sword instead.” I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that the bubble wand parents don’t think that way either.

I do realize that Best Internet Parents exist, and are way too common.. I just wonder if they ever see that they actually come off as the opposite of perfect.. more like Mommy-Dearest. ;)

Bought two lightsabers (the kind that don't fold up), a bubble wand, a BB-8 balloon, and a Mickey balloon on this past trip. Of all the friggin' things that are a pain in the behind to carry with you, I probably bought all of them.

Probably because I love my kids and you don't.

You win the parent 🏆.

I’m a failure and don’t love my kid enough. :(

Side note- some weirdo on this site sent me an email containing links to a website that discusses members here. Yes, apparently that’s a thing.🤷‍♀️ I think he assumed that I would be upset by some internet randoms.. the comments were regarding my trip reports and how I’m basically the epitome of ‘selfish parent’ for— giving my kid sugary snacks so he would stay awake for the MVMCP parade.

I can only hope to someday be as perfect and loving as so many internet peeps claim to be.
#goals ;)
