Jurassic Park River Adventure Movement

Hey guys,

Jurassic Park used to be in Universal Studios. Then when Islands Of Aventure opened they decided to put the ride in that park. How was this done? Wasnt the ride 'in' the boundaries of US or did they realign the boundaries? From the ariel photos the ride seems miles out the way of the Studios.

You might be thinking of Universal Studios Hollywood as they do also have a jurassic part river adventure. The current on at IOA has been there since the park opened but most definitely was built just for the park. There might also have been a Jurassic park walkthrough at US but I'm not sure. Alas there was no river adventure at the original park though.

I agree that it was never at US, but was built esp for IOA. My daughter still hasn't forgiven me for talking her into riding it almost 10 years later.

Wow, cheers guys. I was 7 at the time I went and for some reason (probably after web research and hitting Hollywood instead of Orlando) assumed the ride was at Florida. I never rode it though - now I know why.

Jurassic Park River Adventure is at Universal Studios Hollywood as some posters have already stated. There were I believe plans to put in the same Jurassic Park ride where Men in Black currently stands, but when Islands of Adventure came to the drawing boards they decided to make an entire island out of it... or so the story goes. You can see how this (now seemingly strange) idea would've worked by visiting Universal Japan, which has an extremely similar layout to our Florida park with the River Adventure where Men in Black would ordinarily be.

Prior to Men In Black, Universal was going to construct an indoor rollercoaster themed after "Apollo 13" where the cars would be enclosed similar to Mission Space but instead of screens would actually have windows and along the track would be dark ride elements. They actually have a patent filed showing the design.

Jurassic Farse

There have been various Jurassic Park themed walk-throughs at Universal Studios over the years that corresponded with the release of the sequel films.

For example, there was a walk-through in what used to be Soundstage 54, which later became the location of "Universal Movie Cars" and has now been transformed into the Shrek/Donkey meet and greet area. The "soundstage" area, which resembled what was basically a large garage, is now the break room for Shrek and friends.

The other large soundstage adjacent to Twister also housed a larger and much more elaborate walk-through featuring many props from the Jurassic Park sequel. The soundstage is now used for the larger Halloween Horror Nights haunted house attractions.

As others have explained, Jurassic park was never built inside universal studios Florida, it was at one time considered for the park but moved over next door for the whole island concept.

The original attraction was built and still located at universal studios Hollywood along with a sister that was built inside the Universal Studios Japan park. there have been some smaller thing at the Florida studios like the T-rex photo op with the jeep used to be in the studios bone-yard before moving to IOA, same with many of the in-gen props around the island.

No this was in the late 90s when they were expanding the park. Kong was only 6 or so years old when they were wanting to add another attraction, not replace existing ones. They needed another reason to visit USF after IOA openned.

Apollo 13 came out in theaters in 1995. Men In Black premiered in 1997, and openned as a ride in April 2000. Mummy came out in theaters in 1999 (Scorpion King in 2002) and didn't open as an attraction until May 2004.

Mummy however was inspired by the work done on the Apollo attraction.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic since you're new, but uh...Jurassic Park is in Islands of Adventure, by Universal. Not Disney.
