And here we go again...
EVERY movie gets an attraction (SGE), and EVERY ride gets a movie.
Why can't the suits just let em be? What next "Blizzard Beach: The Movie"?!?

Your joke is probably not far off. I do believe there were early discussions about a Typhoon Lagoon movie.

That's not too bad actually. I've seen movies with far flimsier premises than a ski lodge turned water park.

"Walt Disney Pictures has confirmed that the studio has cast "Toy Story" franchise voice stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in the big screen adaptation of Disney's theme park ride Jungle Cruise. The studio released the following statement:

The Walt Disney Studios is excited to be in development with Mandeville Films and writer Roger S.H. Schulman on a feature film based on the Jungle Cruise, one of the most iconic attractions in Disney theme park history. The film will pair up Tim Allen and Tom Hanks in their first live-action project, after their previous collaborations in the Toy Story trilogy.‬

Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce.

The popular ride has visitors traveling the rivers of the jungle guided by a riverboat skipper and encountering wild animals as they cruise."

I know we've heard rumors for the movie in the past, but it now seems like the ball is getting rolling, especially with big names like Hanks and Allen on board. I'd expect this will cause the ride to get a boost in popularity and publicity, should we expect a refurb as well?

Until this is confirmed on IMDB, I'm not going to put much stock in this. I've seen nowhere else where it says that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will be in a Jungle Cruise movie.

I'm looking forward to this - I agree that John Lasseter will probably be involved in some capacity which has me optimistic.

In related news, I had a great skipper (Skipper Josh) yesterday on the Jungle Cruise.

being that John Lasseter worked on the JC, has worked with both actors, and has looked over many disney films he will most likely work on it in some way:sohappy:

Which refurb? The one put on hold 4 years ago? Or 3 years ago? Or two years ago?

The way it`s going there won`t be any water left to cruise on...

and you think other companies don't postpone projects over and over again?

Priorities are what they are.. just because they aren't yours, thats not disneys problem.

To be fair, JC is long overdue for a good refurb.
But does this mean the adventurers stuck on the pole above the rhino will be replaced with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen aa's....I could see them doing that >.<

Question on the previously planned and cancelled refub: was this a freshening up of the attraction or did the plans include something more substantial.

In other words, is this a Small World style refurb (freshening and fixing everything, new audio etc...) or a Haunted Mansion style refurb (new show scenes and new effects)?

As much as I love JC, I would love to see a major refurb. If DLR's gorillas can throw dynamite, WDW's gorillas can throw poo.

As long as there are pumps and power to run them they can't drain all of Bay Lake.... But until pump rentals and power becomes more expensive than the refurb I think it is safe to say other priorities will continue to prevail.
