June reservations

My husband has decided he does not want to make any dinner reservations for our trip in June. He said he would rather just decide that day where to eat. I am a planner and he just wants to do it all the spur of the moment. Does anyone know if you can get the reservations that day?
I am afraid it is going to be crowded and we will not get to eat at any sit down restaurants.

It really depends on what time you want to eat and where. If you eat a later lunch, you might be ok to just walk up. DH and I will be there from 6-22 till 6-29.

I would suggest if there is a place you really want to eat, that you make a reservation before you go down.

I actually have two days out of our eight day trip that I don't have any reservations. One of those days is at Epcot...I decided that day would be a complete try it all day kinda junk food day. Will be fun to try something at all of the different countries.

The other day we don't have any reservations is basically for the same reason...I figure we'll be "junk food jonesing" and that day will be fun too...however, I do hear Crystal Palace taunting me for reservations.:ROFLOL:

last year we went that week and we did not have a lot of reservations..there were some die hard busy restaurants we could not get into but there were some that had spots....biergarten, hollywood and vine, 1900 park fare for breakfast and ohana's lilo and stich breakfast...

we just called the reservation line in the morning...and they were able to tell me what was open....

we are going again this year the same week and i am trying to make more reservations b/c there were a lot of places we could not get into....like chef mickeys, tony's, 50's prime time....

I can't imagine not making reservations.

I was in Epcot in mid-February and we called at 1130 from the front desk at Coral Reef [there was no CM at reception yet], Dining only had an opening at 2:45 for lunch! We did get in as walk-up to Marrakesh, but honestly I think it's one that almost always has room.

Any of the popular restaurants won't be accessible at all without ADRs. If you're not on the Dining Plan and are willing to settle for Quick Service if you're hungry and haven't found a spot, maybe... But I like my table service and want to be sure I get them.

I agree with Monty Mon! I can't imagine not making ADR's. It doesn't matter what time of year you go - the most popular places book up fast - so if you have a fave, then make a ressie! And as for June being busy? It's getting busy! You have two special events during that time - along with school getting out. So yes, it will be busier and you need the ADR's for your most fave places! :)

We usually make ADRs but for our last trip, we did things differently and only made like 2 of them for restaurants we know we couldn't have gotten into otherwise and did the rest spur of the moment...but that was in January...totally different story!

For June, it's going to be a challenge to eat at places you like at normal dining times without ADRs. Maybe you can settle with your hubby by making two or three and then winging the rest..?

I agree with the others... Make reservations, especially at any popular places you might want to go to), just so you have them as a fall-back plan.

Then, if you end up going somewhere else, you can try and make day-of reservations.

Just make sure to call and cancel your unneeded reservations so that someone else can use them!
I did this back in September, when I'd made a second Le Cellier reservation for our final night (we'd already eaten there our arrival night). We had extra TS credits, so we decided to go to a Signature restaurant for the last night. We were able to get day-of reservations for Yachtsman, and then cancelled Le Cellier. When I did that, the CM said "You just made someone VERY happy." :)
