Hello,
I am far from an expert having never been to the world during summer but I have heard that there are indeed special events such as a spectacular fireworks show! However be prepared for some of the largest crowds of the year with the Magic Kingdom being the worst. If you know what to expect you should have a great time.

I was there for the 4th in 2008 and the parks were crazy. I was in DHS but i believe some one told me they closed MK due to capacity. MK did a pretty nice fireworks show on the 3rd and DHS did one on the 4th (both themed to USA) but i wasn't too impressed with the one at DHS as it was very short.

I was at MK last 4th (2008) and it was nice. The Park was very crowded and the fireworks were great. At times they seemed to surround the park instead of just being at one focal point. It was all very nice. I don't recall any "special" events aside from the fireworks show.

MK, DHS, and EPCOT will have special fireworks for the 4th. MK's special show is awesome, I saw it for the first time last year. The park was crazy crowded, but it was worth it to see the shows. One thing to keep in mind, MK shows the 4th of July fireworks on the 3rd.
DHS has an exclusive display that will take place behind GMR.
After a regular showing of Illuminations at EPCOT, they throw a pretty nice little tag in honor of the 4th.
Be prepared to face huge crowds. I recommend getting to the park you want to watch fireworks at around opening time. Be prepared to stay in the parks all day long.
It will be a long hot day, but worth it. :wave:

I was also there last year for the 4th (2008.) I was at MK for the 4th and it was mobbed. But the fireworks were absolutely amazing, very patriotic. People started "setting up camp" for the fireworks at around 4:30-5pm.
That is really the only special event, but it is beautiful to see at least once. I am going back around the same time this year but I am leaving on the 3rd

Just be prepared. Crowded and mobbed don't really describe it. How about, so many people the parks will start phase closing. Seriously, pick your park, go at opening and don't leave.
Summer in Florida is HOT and Humid. This isn't north east humid either, this is a film of sweat on you the entire day humid. Sunscreen and drinks are a must.
However, the July 4th fireworks show is always spectacular. As mentioned though, if they are at 9, people will find a spot at 4:30. If at MK ideally you want to see them from the Main Street/ Hub area as they are almost guaranteed to shoot off 360 perimeter fireworks all around you.

You`re heading to WDW on the 4th and don`t know what to expect?
The MK and EPcot fireworks will be stunning. The crowds will be stunning. Get in early, don`t expect to ride too much, and be prepared as others have said. Be aware the very best spots for RoE and FitS can be taken an hour or so after the park opens, and guarded by their occupants.

Last year on the morning of the 4th at the Magic Kingdom a group of a hundred or so received their American citizenship at a special ceremony and at the end of the ceremony there was a flyover down mainstreet of 3 or 4 (i think it was) F16 fighter jets. If you get there for opening and go round anti clockwise sensibily utilising fastpass there is no reason that despite the crowds you wont be able to get on every attraction once.:wave:

Since the parks are gonna be crazy packed I think were gonna get there early, enjoy the park for the day go to dinner then catch the monerail to either the poly or GF to watch the fireworks from the beach! maybe it would be a bit more relaxing there rather than in the hurds of people:drevil:

Is it that crowded all through July? Or is the 4th exceptionally crowded?

The family and I were for the 4th in 07, they had sworn in about 3000 in the morning at MK, and gave them free entry for the day, we saw a number of them while there, and when I noticed them I congratulated them too. As for the event, the night before at MK they showed the special fireworks show as well as doing it on the 4th itself. That night we went to EPCOT for their show, which was spectacular to say the least. Never saw so many people at the park ever, we got our regular spot about 2 hours before the show and was lucky we did, when the show was over I turned around and the wall of people was at least 30 feet deep out from us. We waited at least an hour before we went to the bus stops, and they were still packed. They were also projecting onto SSE from the American Pavillion a laser saying happy b-day to the US and a number of other things. You will enjoy very much, :animwink:

If I remember correctly from last year there were two test shows before the 3rd and 4th? I was at MK for the 3rd and Epcot for the 4th, both were stunning. Epcot was my favourite though.
Does anyone know if they'll have the tests this year before the 3rd and fourth? I'd quite like to see the display from the contemporary.

The summer is always busy at the parks because the kids are out of school, but the 4th of July is always super crowded. It's a national holiday, so many people get a day off of work. This year it falls on a Saturday, so it's a double whammy!
