Not even outside?! Mask wearing in fresh air is ludicrous.

I do not feel it is ludicrous when it is difficult to social distance. It really is difficult to social distance at a theme park when one is outside in the general areas, there are many bottlenecks one would encounter.

just a basic example where the crowd (more so than the queue) walking around outside, well folks tend interrupt ones space (or they did the entire time we spent at the parks late last year).

Why should temperature checks disappear? Disney lawyers want to reduce risk as much as possible, and without temperature checks, you could allow an infected person (or a few) enter the park and then you would end up with a spreader event.
The issue with temp checks is it’s primarily superficial. Most people infected with Covid. Like a vast majority. Will not have a fever.

Oh good, another one of these threads.

To summarize for those just joining:

Too Soon to open up capacity
Too Late to open up capacity
Back to normal
Not back to normal
Masks On
Masks Off
You're going to die
You're not going to die.
The second, fourth, sixth and eighth person seem pretty bright.

I guess I just don’t understand the whole temperature check. Even if somebody has a fever all they have to do is pop an Advil or an aspirin and they no longer will show that they have a fever. I would imagine that happens all over on a regular basis for those people who may be sick and don’t care. They will find a way temperature check or not.

Just like when you're going to a doctor appt and they ask you the screening questions. I'm sure plenty of people lie.
I lied last week because they asked if I had a fever in the past 14 days and I did but it was a direct result of my second covid vaccine but I'm sure if I said yes they would have cancelled my appt even though the reason for the fever was a sign that the vaccine worked.
And at Disney I routinely take Advil every morning to try to prevent aches and pains and swelling so I should pass the temp check whether I'm sick or not.

ThAt Is exactly what I’m saying. Temperature checks are ridiculous. All they do is provide a false sense of security for some people

When Fantasmic back in the day fills up to their 8K capacity, some guests get turned away last minute and are denied entry. Some don't take it well. If Fantasmic operates in a much smaller capacity there are going to be a lot more upset families that cannot see the nightly show.
I guess, but no more upset than families who were unable to get park pass reservations for the duration of their trip or unable to get a boarding pass for Rise or unable to get Beaches and Cream reservations, and the list goes on. These things happen, but better for some people to experience Fantasmic than none at all. And I think we're going to need to start out with small steps if we ever want to progress to normal attendance again.

You’re right. Temp checks are nothing more than optics.

Agreed. If you didn't pass the temperature check, you would likely look physically sick, if not already be in the hospital. I'm quite sure that the Cast Members don't even really check half the time, and making them wear Advent Health polos is deceitful. I'm quite sure that a good chunk of the reason that temperature checks exist is because guests in surveys said it would make them feel better, but without really taking into consideration that the information it provides is useless.

If anything, the bottlenecks it creates is more dangerous than what it's preventing.

Incorrect. We have ours taken twice a day at work before entering the building. A handful of fellow workers have been denied access and told to go get a test despite not knowing their temperature was high or exhibiting any symptoms when they arrived.

I've just checked their stated threshold, and I had the incorrect information. I see it's 100.4 F, and I believed it to be higher.

Er... why? This is the 21st century, do you really not know how disease spreads?
Do you?

“One of the strongest findings from the literature is that transmission is reduced outdoors relative to indoors,” says Jonathan Proctor, a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Data Science Initiative and the Center for the Environment. The reason is fairly intuitive: The virus has plenty of places to go besides up your nose.

“There’s a lot of air in which the droplets and the viral particles can disperse,” says Lisa Lee, a public health expert at Virginia Tech and former official at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

to me july 4th is a great day to return fireworks, parades, showing our country is almost back to normal, predict at least 50%, if not more capacity,re-opening of resorts and food venues shuttered now.
By 7/4, I would think that every American that wants a vaccination will have received one. Couple that with those that don't want a vaccination but have antibodies from having contracted the virus will lead to herd immunity. Which should mean increased capacity and lower restrictions throughout the country and at WDW.
