Im guessing he is referencing something out of the new Shanghai Park. thats my guess

Sounded to me more like some reference to the Lord of the Rings and the possibility of some attractions based on the movies in the parks.
BTW I hated the movies because I love the novel so I would not appreciate any attractions based on Action Jacksons slapstick-ring

Loved the novels and loved the films, although I can't watch anything other than the Extended Editions now.

Any movie version of LOTR would be imperfect. A word-for-word version would be the most arduously boring film of all time. Frankly, I don't think a better version could have possibly been filmed, and I'm saying this as a Tolkein fanatic.

Agreed, I mean come on, 4 hours per film(extended version) for a relatively short novel is pretty impressive. Now we just need a Silmarillion movie.

Wonder if they'd do something with either Mount Doom or the Mines of Moria, and replace the fire creature with the Balrog...

In all honesty, a LOTR attraction similar to Potter-land wouldn't be terribly difficult to construct. When this discussion comes up it's usually couched in terms of "there's so much in the novel, what could you possibly focus on?!"

The main attraction should be "Fellowship"-based, with a descent into the Mines of Moria, goblin attacks, and the ultimate conflict with the Balrog, finally sweeping you away and into the comfort and magic of Lothlorien. The associated "land" could be two-fold: a few cobbled streets of Minas Tirith (with much forced perspective work) ultimately descending into the mountain and the mines (I know this geography isn't even remotely accurate). A small recreation of The Shire adjacent to this with quaint shops and a fanciful dark ride would be ideal for children.

There could be an adaption that doesn't emphasize completely on extended action sequences on the cost of story and subtlety, an adaption that doesn't degrade to Gimli a funny sidekick, Aragorn a inferiority complex ridden outsider, Frodo a whiny loser, Pippin and Merry such annoying idiots, Galadriel a witch in a dark forest etc..
The Bakshi-movie was definitely not perfect but it was at least much better.
But back to topic, this has nothing to do with a Disney ride based on JttCotE.

It's far from perfect, and I won't dispute that. But Bakshi's attempt is so ponderous, oppressive, and joyless, I won't ever watch it again.

Well what has this to do with the Journey to the Center of the Earth? The topic of this thread is not about additions in general.
It's something that should be placed in the Imagineers section of the forum but It don't see any connection to our topic as neither the Minotaur nor greek mythology in general has anything to do with the JttCotE.
Would fit better in a kind of "Clash of the Titans"-ride.

Ok, how about the same concept, but plug in your favorite Mythical monsters from whatever culture. Norse, Mesopothamian, Celtic, South American ,Imaginary , whatever. Just make it a mega ride.

I think by introducing a mythological creature into one of the pre-existing lands (Yeti in Asia) Disney has decided against a land dedicated to mythical creatures. Which is, of course, a huge bummer, but I can see what they're going for.

Journey could/would need to be rethemed quite a bit, but I could totally see it working in Africa. You're part of a diamond mining expedition, and there have been reports of strange things happening deep below the earth. You and your team are being sent to the very deepest, darkest depths of the mine to investigate. Exciting ride/monster attack ensues.

I know virtually nothing about the mythology and culture of African nations, but surely there are some exciting legends/folklore they can pull from for a unique beast to populate this doomed diamond mine. AK could really use something like this, IMO.

20K could definitely work too! Again, it'd be easy to theme this to Africa or Asia, really. Or maybe Dinoland? A submarine expedition to uncharted depths/unexplored waters that reveals a pocket of aquatic dinosaurs that have somehow survived after all these years? Ha, maybe even a Creature from the Black Lagoon-style missing link monster to fulfill Dinoland's mythical quota?
