Journey Into Imagination... what would you change?

I don't see Disney spending the money it would take to rebuild the original.
Compared even to something like Voyage of the Little Mermaid, that ride was a monster.
Given that Disney would never make back its investment in attendance or merchandise, the odds of their doing a dark ride on that scale again are very low.

EVERYTHING about JII needs to go and the whole pavilion should be stipped down to the studs and completely reimagined. They've had how many iterations of this attraction, now, 3-4? I don't remember ever walking in there and having to wait on line behind anyone since the first version of it. These days it's basically empty and you feel as if the cast members running it are bored to tears and just happy to see anyone come in for the ride. They can keep Figment as a central part of it, but I'd drop the Eric Idle bit and the whole laboratory stuff.

In its current state, I will never go on this ride again. I really wish that the original ride could be put back in place. Since this will probably never happen, they really need to put something of the same caliber as the original in its place. It is sad to say, but pretty soon there will be almost nothing to do in Future World. :(

Retain Figment. He's one of the last "great" things about early EPCOT. I loved Dreamfinder and his flying apparatus (dirigible/steampunk thing) so I'd like to see him back. But redo the entire thing with the missing track. Open up the upstairs area again, make the pavilion complete.

With that, promote it! Use merchandise tie-ins, character appearances, advertise within the resorts, maybe even develop a Figment cartoon, make Dreamfinder a kind of ambassador for EPCOT, I don't know, but Disney could do something other than what they've been doing. Pretty much nothing...

The only reason we pretty much have Nigel is because of the 3-d movie, "HOney I shrunk the audience". So now that the movie's been gone for a while, I don't think keeping NIgel is necessary for that tie-in. Which means that whatever the next incarnation is should have some connection to the 3d movie next door. Nigel could search all over the world for Dreamfinder to come back and help him reign in Figment. Figment is, after all, Dreamfinder's creation. Maybe he pops in on Bunsen and Beaker hoping to find Dreamfinder in their Muppet Lab?

If something like that is the movie, well then how about the ride now showing Dreamfinder turning things back to how they were? Rewinding the new ride by leaving one of the current 'sets', showing it being broken down and taken apart and going backward through the old ride reinstating it. And at the end, him in his dirigible with Figment off on another imagination journey, which was the opening of the original ride?

When Disney puts in a new attraction, it's usually to re-theme something after a Pixar movie.
New Up! 3D movie and ride?

I don't think that's totally true. I mean, they are adding The Seven Dwarf Mine Train, The Little Mermaid, and a whole Beauty and the Beast area in the new Fantasyland Expansion. I can understand why you'd think that with Toy Story Mania, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, and Cars Land at DCA, though.

Something themed to Up would actually be really awesome (it's my favorite Pixar film), but as a replacement for Figment? Nah... That just seems heartless.

I liked Imagination the way it was before it was changed. Dreamfinder on his flying machine, the clapping hands, the sequence of seeds growing, etc. Today's version is okay, but it was better before.

I would level the building and start again from bare ground. If we had to go with a character theme I would use Phineas and Ferb. I think the premise of that show is ideally suited for an Imagination themed pavilion.

To me, I think the 2002 version is a decent ride, but it lacks spunk. It needs to be longer, funner, and of course, maybe bring back DF? :p

I love figment and would love to see him remain in this attraction. As for the ride itself it definitely needs to actually have something to do with imagination. I like the imagination through time idea others have stated. I also like the idea of Phineas and Ferb tie-in. To me those two are perfect for several attractions in Epcot and are highly under used. Also, the "post show" is in need of some serious help. Some more interactive/high tech activities are desperately needed.

All this being said, DD loves this attraction so we end up riding it every time. At least there is no line and it's plenty cool.

I would second the Gut the entire building sentiment and replace with something better - however The Wonders of Life building is unused for any real purpose and Horizons restaurant could be so much better used as a buffeteria similar to the old Crystal Palace - Lots of work left everywhere to be done...
