Journey Into Imagination refurb.

With the relatively cheap cost of Soarin', it should have been built at one or two of the World Showcase countries to bring life into those pavilions.

They could of had soarin' queue enter in one country and the exit dump you into another country. Would have fit in nicely with Soarin' around the world. Could have been unique and cool.

I was walking to get my mail and I overheard a conversation from someone who says he has a friend who is the cousin of a WDW bus driver who heard they're going to tear out Journey into Imagination and put in a renewed version of Timekeeper.

(How is this thread not locked?)
That doesn't sound very fitting for a pavilion about imagination...

I'm 99% sure that an Imagination redo was on the schedule before Frozen came out in theaters. Then the budget got moved to Frozen. Forgive me if that's obvious to you but it hasn't been whined about much on here so I assume most are unaware.

I do not have any inside information on this, the timing and events just seem to add up all too well. For instance, Dreamfinder was at D23 2013. We heard that it was in the works from WDW1974. Jerry Rees teased on his website something big he was working on for Epcot, and now all mention of that is gone. The Dreamfinder and figment comics came out, and do you think Disney just happened to want to promote a long-lost character for no reason? It's possible but I doubt it. Also, some things that certain imagineers (such as Tony Baxter) have said on the topic lead me to that conclusion.

All of the pieces fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. And when you finish the puzzle, you can see the big picture more clearly.

It's happened before too. Seas with Nemo took away Imagination 4's budget the first time.

So lets just work with the fact that they intend to do something, I think that provides less of a false hope then before. I guess the real questions is when. I am betting this will absolutely, positively, 100% get done before Oct 1, 2032

The new 3D Short Film Fest at the theater and the DVC 25th Anniversary Lounge on the second floor are both recent but "seemingly short-term" changes to the Imagination Pavilion, so it's plausible that something new might be coming to the first floor ride after Soarin' Around the World and Frozen open this summer. Plus the new Colortopia exhibit at Innoventions is so similar to the Imageworks I'm not sure they really need both of them, but the old Commuincores were full of that same type of interactive stuff

It'll happen, I'm sure. I'm surprised no murmurs of legitimate plans have gotten out while all this expansion and development has been going on.

I'm not impressed with being able to watch DVD extras on the big screen.

Yes I agree, that's a very good way to look at it. At least the plans are there, and the success of the comics certainly isn't doing anything to hurt these plans from becoming reality.

I really do hope you're prediction is right. And the sooner the better for everyone.

We all thought this was the worst ride out of every single one we went on in Orlando.

It doesn't need a refurb it needs burned to the ground and rebuilt.

The easiest, cheapest, and most fool-proof way to fix the Imagination Pavilion is to just bring back the original story, show, and sound track with modern sets and special effects, because the current building and track layout were designed around the original show, the basic concept of "how your imagination works" isn't something that will ever get dated or go out of style, and a lot of people really seemed to like it the first time, plus Epcot could use some more family attractions to get people in the door besides relying the constant seasonal festivals.

I think it's just a matter of time, and sooner is more likely than later, because it would be a quick thing to do, and it's not like every ride needs to be based on a movie, Soarin' isn't based on a movie and it's the most popular thing in Epcot

Personally I would love to have it themed to the Imagination Institute like around the year 2200. It could be super futuristic, but be partially destroyed, and run down by experimental creatures, like plants with lives etc. Maybe we somehow revive Figment, and there could even be let's say a DreamFInder hologram (Although I believe Kodak has the rights, and although everyone wants DreamFinder back in my mind it really wouldn't be a loss not to have him. Walt Disney once said keep moving forward, and I think they should do that with this ride as well although references could be good) They could use the same vehicles, but speed them up slightly, and if that maybe with a large budget they could expand the building's size. The theater at Imagination (Whatever it's called) Could be truly themed to Imagination. Also a restaurant could be nice maybe for the second floor as the pavilion although splendid from the outside is lacking the amount of things like the land, and the living seas. And to those that take offense I love the DreamFinder, but I don't think it is essential for his return to have a great ride, and if it is themed in the Future a hologram of him could be cool, but the ride has to be targeted for everyone not just fans of the original ride. A sequel could be cool, but instead having the Imagination Institute rundown in the future, with figment, and a hologram of the DreamFinder could be cool, and possibly the entire story could have been a dream or something, or maybe like the movie Inception.
