Joffrey's Coffee to replace Nescafe Coffee throughout Disney's Domestic Parks and Resorts

Paranoia is a very real element that has been entering into the NextGen discussion. 74 basically called all male Disney fans homosexual sissy boys. That is not exactly a valid point of discussion.
Fan and "fanboi".....a difference, there is.
(I shall refrain from using photographic examples.) Fanboi, in this useage, is a derivation of "fanboy" made popular in Glendale. Somewhat derogatory.

One ("fan", with or without the "boy") is common here and almost never the subject of jokes.
The other is a bit more rare, though often easily identified when spotted.
(@Martin and I ran into a nest of them back at the 40th.)

I am quite familiar with the term fanboy and it's negative connotation. I do not care for the fanboy mentality either, Disney or otherwise, but my assessment of 74's statement still stands. It was intended to be a personal insult which does not have a place in a rational discussion.

Personal insults rarely, if ever, do.
General "ribbing"....eh...not a big deal.

And again...the use of "y" vs. "i" is a major differentiator. 74 is, admittedly, a "y". Reckon I am, too.

I wonder if this was something that Joffrey's foresaw, or were just trying to be forward thinking. I can imagine their coffee carts taking a hit once the Starbucks open up. Which would in theory be offset (to their bottom line at least) by the increased bulk sales to WDW.
Nestle pulling out, giving an opportunity to expand, yes. They wouldn't likely have had any foresight on Starbucks, although Disney's F&B team may have had a potential plan in mind.

Very happy about this decision! Now if we could just get them to replace all the "Nastea" with real iced tea, we'd be in good shape!;)

Real ice tea would be great, but the fake tea they are currently using is not too bad. It is the only tea like that I can drink.

It really isn't terrible, but growing up with "real" sweet tea has spoiled me. My wife refuses to touch it!

Understandable. I tend to avoid the faux tea like the plague but gave the stuff at Disney a shot and was pleasantly surprised. It still does not hold a candle to real tea, but it will do in a pinch.

Does this deal mean that the cheaper coffee will be replaced by more expensive coffee? Will prices at current Nescafé stations be increased to the price levels of the Joffrey's carts?

I'm just the opposite. I grew up with the powdered stuff, and really don't like real tea. Lipton brand has always been my favorite.

As a side note, I believe Joffrey's also runs the Royal Anandapur Tea Company stand in DAK. Good stuff.

Words cannot describe how glad I am that NesCafe "coffee" is leaving the parks.

It is odd how that works. I grew up with the dehydrated mash potatoes and did not like the real ones until I was well into my 20's.

The Kona Cafe always offered the 100% Kona by the bag and in bean form, at least in the last 10 years or so, both in the restaurant and at the counter for walk-ups. It was always expensive, though. (About $40 for a one-pound bag.) Probably from Joffrey's then, I guess. So, it should remain, it would seem.

As for other coffee on the resort, it was better when it was Hills Bros., but as I noted above, I believe that was lost when Nestle sold its Sara Lee division (which owned Hills Bros. and most of their other coffee lines, except obviously Nescafe). Since Nestle is a major sponsor of WDW, that is probably why everything changed over to Nescafe (Nestle's primary coffee brand remaining).

I wonder if this wholesale dropping of Nescafe coffee means their sponsorship contract with Nestle is history also?

Wow! I have never noticed the whole bean kona for sale there, I assume that you would have to ask to purchase it. Thanks foe the info, that might rescue me if I ever ran out of my fresh roasted while on site.

Yeah, I had a friend at home who had grown up in California and Hawaii, and she always spoke of 100% Kona coffee and how she wished that she could find it here in Richmond, Virginia. So, I had made a point of checking for it at the Polynesian the next time I went -- and there it was! They sell it in whole bean form by the bag at the Kona cafe's walk-up stand, and you can order a bag at the restaurant to be added to your bill. I have done this a couple of times... but it is very pricey.

It is still hard to find it here in Richmond. Although I know that I can order it online even from Hawaii itself cheaper, I still think about buying it every time I am at the Poly. (And usually common sense prevails! -- although sometimes the allure of buying pure Kona coffee in an environment that is about as close to "Hawaii" as I am likey ever to get, is very strong..... Another reason that I know that Disney needs to remember the importance of unique merchandise in location-specific settings.)
