'Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar' concept art and construction at Disney Springs The Landing

Disney Springs certainly isn't small in actual scale, but what it brings to the table is the big question at the end of the day. Everything is looking good so far, hopefully the rumors for The Edison come through.

The Harambe Marketplace? Yeah it opens up pathways and is a pretty significant expansion of DAK's QS F&B, but it's still just a minor addition. Yeah, it will be a nice hangout spot with a guitarist playing nearby, but it's still small scale in the grand scheme of things.
Lots of small scale things do tend to add up though. When you have a product that a majority of people enjoy, adding small improvements can improve an already enjoyed product. Adding the Harambe marketplace expands the Africa section of the park to now feel like a place that you could spend more time in, it expands dining options, adds ambiance and themed spaces and reduces congestion in a frequently congested part of the park. On it's own, small. As a piece of the larger puzzle of it's impact to the park coupled with the new FotLK theater, expanded animal offerings like the bird and camel experiences, updates in progress to other dining locations, etc, all these things add up in the grand scheme of things to become parts of a nice addition.

Same with Jock's. Taken on it's own, the addition of a bar to DTD would be relatively meaningless, no matter how well themed. Coupled together with the entire change that is going in to Disney Springs though, it's all part of a large change that will have impact on people's vacations.

All good points. This is a bit of an odd year where I-Drive is the only place adding substantial additions to the Orlando area. This is a bit of a transition year for all of the parks/resorts.

2016 is looking to be a big year in that we're going to see RoL, Frozen, Kong, Possibly Fallon/F&F, Sapphire, SW Coaster, Busch Family Coaster and TSMM/Soarin expansions as well if you want to even add that.

Where do we get the idea that this 'theme' is going to be anything more than a few renamed menu items and the boat bar? I don't get any Indy theme from the concept art. I do see lots of aviation decoration though.
I would expect to see lots of artifacts inside that continue the theme. I don't think it will be in your face Indiana Jones, but there will be things there for those that are looking.

Yeah, I agree with this. If they really wanted to do an Indiana Jones themed restaurant/bar they would have gone with such an obscure character. It's a nice reference to the movie, but I don't think it was meant to be full on Indy. All I want to know now is when are they going to build Club Obi-Wan. :)

Yes and no. It's from a town established over a 100 years ago, so who's to say that Jocks wasn't established somewhere in its history?
It sounds like we can expect to find Reggie inside based on the announcement. So the snake is 79+ years old?

Seems like the only connection is the name.
It may be slightly more than that.

Ardent fans of the “Indiana Jones” films may recognize Jock Lindsey as Indy’s frequent pilot; he’s also the owner of a pet snake named Reggie – an important detail, trust me on this! In the main room, guests will discover an expansive bar, aviation decor filling the room, vintage travel posters covering the walls and correspondence between Jock, Indy and their fellow adventurers on display.

I'll agree here that I'm thinking that it'll not be in your face, Indy swinging in on his whip, Ark of the Covenant in the corner. It'll likely be filled with tiny easter eggs. Travel posters to the Himalayas/India, props like shipping crates marked to Cairo, the aforementioned letters, etc.

Indiana Jones themed bar makes me happy beyond words. I trust the Disney folks to come up with some amazing stuff even if the hangar theme seems a bit forced. This should be awesome!

This is gonna be another Sam's. Comments on the blog post basically confirmed it'll have special mugs, etc.

I still think bartender-controlled effects and shows are likely.
Disney's surely taken notice of the positive reinforcement effect purchase-related effects has on guest spending.
