JetBlue - Ooooh, you so sneaky

I originally had a return flight from Orlando at 11:30AM. They changed the flight time to 7:40AM, which would stink because I'd have to get up at 4:00AM and wouldn't be able to check in my bags and get my tickets at the hotel. Luckily, they were nice enough to switch me to a later flight at no extra charge.

Jetblue is always switching flight times! I usually fly Southwest so that was a surprise for me. Luckily, they only switched mine by 10 minutes. Enjoy the TVs and not having to jockey for position during boarding!!:D

Yes JetBlue is VERY good at changing times on you. And dont think that they are done...it very well could happen again. But they have always been good about working me if the new times did not work with my schedule.

I don't mind a minor change as long as it doesn't mess anything major up, but this just didn't fly with me (pun intended). What I find odd is that they don't notify you of any changes. I just happened to find out because I wanted to change my seats.

Did you provide an email address when you booked? I received an email from them when they changed the flight time. They should definitely notify passengers of a change - especially one that drastic!

I used to work for the airline industry and I think if the change is more than an hour and a half they have to move you to a flight that suits your travel needs. At least, thats what we had to do where I worked. We had US Airways change a flight on us from departing at 6pm to departing at 2pm. That ruined the last day for us and no other flight that day would work so they actually ended up bumping us out an additional day, no charge. Thank goodness you caught it when you did though!

Im going down in January, flying Jetblue as well, and they have changed my flight time once so far. It was only a 10 minute change so i didn't really care. I just hope it stays just a 10 minute change.

JetBlue changed our flight for our upcoming trip, luckily my girlfriend got a phone about it, although we have been checking it about once a week. They changed our flight time last year when we went down as well. The flights only got pushed back about an hour or so so it wasn't such a big deal for us. Still, it'd be nice if they kept the same time that we booked in the first place.

I guess that since JetBlue hubs out of New York, they have to change flight times all the time to deal with effects from delays at JFK. When everything goes right, they're great, but when things go wrong...

My last trip I booked with Airtran and they moved our time drastically and from a non-stop to a layover. I called and requested a refund (I believe they must since this isn't what I planned on when I purchased) and they politely refunded. Then booked with Southwest, never had a major change there. Wonder now what will happen since Southwest owns Airtran..
Anyway, glad they could change your flight.

You were lucky your flight was changed more than 3 hours. They would have had to give you a refund if they couldn't satisfy you.

I had a bad experience with JetBlue a couple of years ago. Was flying a short leg on a long vacation from IAD -> JFK booked 6 months in advance. About 3 months before the flight they changed the flight time on me 70 minutes earlier which didn't work because of my schedule. I could have left a little later but they didn't have another flight out for 5-6 hours which didn't work either. They could not accommodate my schedule, they wouldn't book me on another carrier, they wouldn't give me a refund so I could book on another carrier because they claimed that their Terms and Conditions state (in the fine print that no one reads until it's too late) that they are not required to give you a refund unless they change the flight times more than 3 hours. All they would do was give me a credit to be used from 1 year of the initial booking (now only 9 months left to use it). They wouldn't extend the time to travel with the credit either. I had to book another flight on another airline myself, paying again to get to the same place I already had paid JetBlue to take me and it was worse because if I had just booked the other airline instead of JetBlue to begin with I would have paid a few dollars more but 3 months later I had to pay a lot more because the fares had gone up. This really soured me on JetBlue. But there is more...

I used some of my JetBlue credit to take a short trip on Jet Blue to Disneyland. When returning, after hurrying to the airport for an early afternoon flight, it turns out the flight, which showed on-time when we arrived at the airport, ended up delayed by 3 hours and we were stuck waiting at the airport. This was 3 hours late for a flight lasting a little over an hour. We could have spent an extra 3 hours in DL, but no, (no) thanks again JetBlue for huge delays and not keeping your passengers up to date on flight delays that I'm sure they had to have known about in advance if the flight was 3 hours delayed. After this I was done with JetBlue. I let my remaining credit with them expire without using it and vowed to never fly them again if I could help it. Fortunately there are plenty of other more reliable carriers around and I may have to pay a few bucks extra, but I'm happy to never have to deal with the aggravation JetBlue put me through again.

luckily they email you... they changed my flights but for the better. We are leaving an hour later both ways... so sleep in a little more headed down and we aren't like freaks in the lobby at 8AM worrying about having to leave our bags with the Disney folks... including about 4K in camera gear lol

Wow - I didn't realize this happened so frequently! I booked our October 2012 flights as soon as they became available in February, and they've already "rescheduled" one of them. I did get an e-mail notification, but it shook me up a bit and has me worried that more changes might be in store in the next 5 months before the trip.

*UPDATE: as of June 2012, JetBlue has now changed the times for THREE of our four flights (2 legs down and 2 back). This time it was only a few minutes here and there -- nothing major -- but I've still got four more months to go before we fly! If they've already made four changes in three months, what's next?

*SECOND UPDATE: on July 16, JetBlue altered the times for ALL FOUR of my flights (this would be changes number 5 through 9!), shifting each one up or down by a few minutes and pushing our arrival in Orlando back later and later. What on earth!??!

*THIRD UPDATE: After flight changes resulted in a net shift to our departure time from MCO of almost 2 hours, I called JetBlue on September 5. Since the only remaining flight I could find that was around the same time (and wouldn't result in a price upcharge due to fare increases) was to a different airport in our area, they allowed me to change BOTH of my flights (to Orlando and from Orlando) to the other airport, and waived the $100/pp change fee. I'm back in love!

OH MY GOSH, Yes!! I thought I was crazy when we were coming back from FL. Our tickets said 5:30 boarding time. We got there around 2 pm to check in and so we could eat lunch, and find out our flights had changed to 3:30 boarding time!!!!

Hmmm..i guess i have just either been lucky, or just booking less complicated flights (i.e multiple airports, multiple stopovers, multiple people, etc..)

I have yet to have had a issue with JetBlue.
They are actually one of my preferred carriers.

I fly with whoever has the best price, and is a carrier i have some experience with..the two main carriers i have taken to MCO from BOS over the more recent visits have been JetBlue, AirTran, and when they have special pricing, American and Delta. When Continental was still operating in this area, i flew them a lot to MCO too. I likeJetBlue a lot...i also fly them to California.

I DO however agree that they do tend to change their flight times a bit, but i have always been alerted via e-mail months in advance. Said e-mails always have a link that sends me back to their website to look at alternative flights if need be, and i have never had any issues finding a replacement flight if needed.
In both cases i actually had to look into finding a alternative, it actually worked out far better for me in the end time-wise. One switch was to a Non-Stop from a stopover flight..which was nice, and another was a two hour advancement that put me into MCO at a more appealing time then originally booked. I usually have to book the later afternoon/early evening flights to get the better rates, as everyone usually wants morning and early afternoon flights and the prices reflect that. Once when i had to switch, i scored a prime-time slot ( 11am ) with a mid afternoon arrival but with the cheaper, originally booked price.

So JetBlue gets decent reviews from me.
Interesting to learn from this thread that i am not the only one who has noticed the time changes.

Funny you say that. That happened to us last trip but they only changed the time by like 20 minutes but hellooooo it would've been nice to get an email notification instead of me thinking I'm insane when I check the times and swearing to myself that it was originally a different time.

Yeah, Delta did that to me twice on our upcoming trip. The last change left us with a six and a half hour layover in Minneapolis. I found that unacceptable, and ended up turning it into a later flight out and a little extra time in the parks that day.

For the most part, I've never had a problem changing my flight after the airline messes with my itinerary. I think it's pretty standard procedure to allow a modicum of leeway with their passengers when they inconvenience them with airport musical chairs.

And JetBlue's customer service is really good. I wish they flew out my rinky- airport.
