Trip Report JenniferS Is Live - 9/7/16 - 9/17/16

Hi, my name is JenniferS, and I am a Disneyholic. I have been accused of being a Pixie Dust snorter. I've been accused of worse, so no biggie.

Once we get home from a Disney trip, I am always in a bit of a funk, and never really up to doing a proper trip report. For those of you who know me, I generally post live over in Chit Chat somewhere. This is my first dedicated live trip report in the actual Trip Report Thread.

The cast:
Me. JenniferS. Just turned 49. Honestly friends, I don't know how that happened. I still feel 27. But, my passport and driver's licence insist I was born in 1967, and I have two 20-something sons, so it must be true.

This is me, on my way to work this morning. All smiles, because this is my last day of work for almost two weeks!

And this is Hubby. He is not on his way to work today, as he has been off work for 6 months. He is 48 years old and this is the first entire summer he has had off since he was 14. In 31 years together, this is only the second time I have seen him with a tan.

Goofy is his favourite character.

And last year, he was obsessed with this over-sized "Stitchie". There was no room in our luggage, but this year, I am determined to buy it for him, and bring it home by any means necessary. Actually, I'm just going to bring our big SouthWest duffel bag, and pay for an extra bag coming home.

This will be our first Disney trip, just the two of us, since 1992! :jawdrop:

Okay, that's the Who.
Coming up next - the Where.

Took a pic or two of Beast's forced perspective castle. Doesn't work for some. Works just fine for me.

Hung out here for a bit, hoping to run into an old friend. Alas, she didn't show. Or, if she did, I didn't recognize her.

A quick glance at the HM line, and we said no thanks. On the ferry now, headed back to the parking lot.

Somebody snarkily commented that Hubby is blocking the breeze.

Welcome to my world, this is my view of the parks:

He is very handy for cutting a swath through the crowds. The lack of breeze is worth it.

I wonder if your friend is the one who made the snarky comment.

Yikes, that was an arduous journey back, considering we didn't exit anywhere near park closing time.

I'm not sure what the solution is, but the monorail/ferry/tram thing doesn't always cut it.

What doesn't help are the hundreds (literally hundreds) of infants, toddlers, and children who are customarily in bed by 7:00/8:00 being forced to stay up until many hours later.

You can't give into what the children want. You have to show them who's boss. That's Parenting 101: disregard your kid's feelings.

Couple of things before I pass out from exhaustion.

- On many rides, the second FP touch point is currently disengaged and covered up. We witnessed two ladies hop from the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train exit line right back into the FP line.
Generally I mind my own business, but this irked me. I didn't kick up a fuss, but I did say to them, "You know, if you get caught, you can be kicked out of the park. Is it really worth it?"
To their credit, they didn't tell me to stuff it. Instead they tried to play dumb, and acted as if they had no idea what I was talking about.

- I jammed my finger on a part of the wall structure that jutted out in the PotC queue. It felt like I ripped off the nail, but thankfully it's fully intact. Now that it turns out I have a big bruise on the finger tip, I feel justified in being a little whiney. Plus, it really hurt.

- We witnessed a bended-knee marriage proposal on MSUSA. It brought a tear to my eye, and dozens of unrelated bystanders erupted in applause.

- We both drank plenty yesterday, and the day before - nowhere near enough today! Oops.

- Today was the first day that neither of us was selected for secondary security. One of the guards yesterday confirmed that everyone will be going through the scanners sooner rather than later, but that "construction was required".

- And finally, it bears repeating, do not force your kid to stay up hours beyond his/her bedtime just so you can feel that you got your money's worth out of your park passes. A shorter, happy day full of great memories trumps an overlong, miserable, tear-filled day every time.

MK ride recap:
Pirates, Stand-by
Mine Train, FP
Philharmagic, Stand-by
People Mover, Walk on
Space Mountain, FP
Pirates, FP
Pooh, FP
Ariel, Walk on
Peter Pan's Flight, FP

Somewhere in there was a Dole Whip, dinner at Columbia Harbour House, and ice cream at Storybook Treats.

Thus ends Day 4.
Tomorrow is another swim, relax, resort day for the first portion of the day, followed by DAK, and Disney Springs.
So far, I've not been able to locate a certain Dooney & Bourke handbag. Hopefully, my luck changes tomorrow. C'mon World of Disney, I'm counting on you.

Perhaps this has something to do with the rather statuesque man with the pink string bag that was standing beside you? I'm guessing a quick, "hey" from him would have reduced them to tears.

Keep your hands and feet inside the queue at all times. Is this how you ended up with so many fastpasses?

After seeing the comparison (and enough pictures to really form an opinion here), I don't like the purple rocks. They don't look futuristic or anything--just odd. I figure that rocks will look like rocks, even in the future. :cautious:
I like them. To be fair, as with most things, they look better in person. Also, I do not like red/brown rocks. I think they should all be grey. :joyfull:

These weren't kids. They were ladies in their late 20's. I was shocked. We were the only ones around when they did it. They hung back, looking at something or other, until everyone had cleared the exit line, and then right in front of us, ducked under the thin rope separating the two lines, tucking in behind us.
They KNOW we saw them.

The primary reason it irked me is that Stand-by was at 90 minutes, and they had clearly just ridden. That's not fair to people playing by the rules.

Pink Nike bag duty is split pretty evenly. There's scarcely anything in it, so it's very light. I'm pretty good at doing my share, especially if it requires minimal effort. :hilarious:

Clearly these are proactive modern women who believe rules are meant to be broken.

Loving your trip report! Finally all caught up. MK on a Sat night is no joke. We had to make a quick stop on my trip three weeks ago to ride It's a Small Worlds before it went down for refurb. Lines weren't bad because it was right during the parade and right before Wishes, but my parents decided to stay for Wishes and it was SO bad getting out of there. It literally took close to an hour and a half. I don't think I've ever seen a wait for the People mover so it MUST have been crowded when you guys were there!
