Trip Report JenniferS is live - 9/3 - 9/16

Technically this is a pre-trip report, but we’ll be going live in less than a week!

This will be my third live September trip report.

It’s going to be a lot of same old/same old, as the cast, location, and ADR’s are pretty much the same. What can I say - we like what we like. And what we like is each other, Walt Disney World, Coronado Springs, and Free Disney Dining.

First, the who.
Me, JenniferS - Uber planning, pixie dust snorting Disney-aholic, 51 year old kid at heart (despite what the mirror says).

This is Hubby. He likes the Tar Heels, the Blue Jays, food, beer, and me. Not necessarily in that order.
The words most often heard coming out of his mouth are “Whatever you want, Baby.”

This is us. We are adorable together. We’re each other’s ride or die.

Last year, we were celebrating my 50th birthday (as much as women celebrate these “milestones”).

This year, we are celebrating Mike’s 50th (both of us born in August, so it’s close enough to count) AND our 25th wedding anniversary earlier this year.

We have children, but we don’t bring them to Disney very often anymore. If they decide to get married and start giving us grand-babies, I will re-visit this decision. But for now, they stay home. We are on Jen and Mike time.

After two live trip reports, I’m not sure how wordy this report will be, but it will be heavy on pics, most especially of food! As Mike says - I’m only here for the food.

To be continued ....

A lot of our fast food options are less than stellar, partially because the majority of employees are college students who come and go so often and really don't care. In the summer when all the college kids go home every place in town is understaffed. At least that's my theory.
It’s always overpopulated where I live. We have almost TOO many options so I guess places know that if they mess up, people can just go somewhere else, so they’d better not mess up.

So, by telling y’all how bad my hip has been the past couple of days, I totally reverse-jinxed myself.

Except for not being able to dress the bottom half of myself (which I haven’t been able to do for days), my hip was great all day.

I didn’t sleep 10 minutes last night, and Mike kept asking me, “Are you going to be able to even sit on the plane?” I kept saying that it would be fine, and thank you Lord, it was.

It’s starting to bark now, but that’s okay, we’re almost home. I just needed to make it through the flight. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

We are souped up, fed up, fuelled up, and making a run for the border. Catch you on the other side.

As we witnessed people literally running toward Norway, with no regard for their own safety or that of anyone around them, I wondered - how can SO MANY folks be late for their Akershus ADR?

Ummm, no. Turns out we were witnessing firsthand what the CM’s refer to as “the Frozen Dash”. Alrighty then.

Only the Emperor’s dragon was allowed to be depicted with five claws.
Regular plebeian dragons only have four. Check your family crest and get back to me.

Diego began to explain to us how it was determined during construction that it would be impossible to maintain the ornately painted ceiling in here using paint and brush. I started to wonder ... wallpaper? Close enough. A very early version of vinyl wrap. Ha!

Oh cool, we had to wait for the drawbridge to lower. We were not allowed to take pics of CM’s onstage before 11:00 am (as they are held to a different standard of conduct prior to official opening time), but I thought it was neat that all five CM’s involved in the process were wearing PFD’s.
Safety first. I approve.

One of the original “Hidden Mickeys”. Back when they were really subtle and more of an Imagineer inside joke.

For some reason, I have no pics from the American pavilion. Bummer. The AA Building is the only example of forced perspective in reverse. A five storey building is designed to look like it is actually only three stories high, in order to remain historically accurate.

Diogo also compared the setup of the various “vignettes” of the presentation as being like a filing cabinet drawer. As you stand in front of the building, you are actually standing on top of the various set pieces. Cool.

Japan.
