Jealousy Of The Deluxe Resorters...

My favorite fantasy deluxe resort to stay in is Polynesian. I've stayed at the Contemporary when I was a kid (when there were only 2 hotels on properly). We had a 1st floor room overlooking the lake and I could walk out our sliding glass door and sit on the grass. I remember giant turtles there that I sat on and rode for a bit. I was only 10, it was a big deal!
I also am glad I got to at least stay in Contemporary once. I think it was something like $75.00 a night back then. I was on the back side over looking the lake, half way up. Missed my chance with the Poly. Just can't bring myself to pay those prices even at a supposed discount.

Don't be jealous---we did deluxe on our first trip & paid for it for years afterward. We did moderate the second time & paid it off quickly! Our next trip will be value & we hope to have it paid for before we get there (cash & gc saved up for food & souvies). I have one thing on my bucket list---stay at all WDW resorts. Two down, many to go!

You know what's funny?
Stayed at the GF for 7 nights during my honeymoon. Next time we visited, we stayed at the Hilton LBV. It was a bit of an adjustment to "downgrade" but it wasn't the end of the world. The thing I missed most was probably being on the monorail line (and I guess the view from our balcony of MK ;)). Staying at PORS next trip which should be a whole new experience.

Our first deluxe stay coming this year (May 31st to June 7th at BW) which we paid for OOP and we also bought into DVC this year as well (secondary market, first points come in 2015, SSR) so I hope it's deluxe for us from now now :)

But I love PORS as well, great resort :)

I would suggest splitting your stay, maybe? Stay the majority of your trip at a mod, but then splurge for a night or two at the deluxe? And I would suggest the WL, as others have said, because it's the cheapest of the deluxes.

I always stayed at value resorts until this past fall, when for my honeymoon (and because we used the money we got for our wedding towards the trip) we were able to stay at the WL...now we've spoiled ourselves  We are only considering deluxes for our next trip, hopefully in 2015. We're leaning Boardwalk Inn.

This did cross my mind--staying at a deluxe for like one night of the trip. After some thought, though, it seemed to just be a potential hassle. I don't want to spend time out of my vacation packing and moving resorts, checking in again, etc.

I haven't ever done it, myself, but I hear it's quite easy...maybe others can weigh in on this? Maybe when you originally pack for your trip you could pack a mod suitcase and your deluxe suitcase?

Something that I find totally cool at the poly is that at the quiet pool there are "mini cabanas" which are tables an chairs with an overhead covering. It's a great place to sit and relax while the kids are swimming and enjoy a drink or two, responsibly of course. And then walk back to Tokelau and go right into the room. I just hope they don't they don't change/mess up the resort too much.

We love the Poly and have stayed there for our last 4 WDW trips. We pack a lot into our 4-5 night visit. I'm jealous of those of you who can stay over a week! My work schedule makes it difficult to get away much longer. It is a sticker shock, but we continually look for pin codes, etc, to get the best rates possible. Our biggest draw to PR is that your door to gate time for MK (our favorite park) is maybe 10-12 min unless there is a delay with the monorail. And CR is literally a 5 min walk to MK gate! The pools at all of the resorts are incredible, and we enjoyed the 10-12 min return from gate to PR to relax by the pool mid afternoon. No buses required(!) Epcot trip via monorail is leisurely and then we can walk to/from TTC. For us, the extra $ is worth it for the convenience. But again, we are talking shorter stays than many of you are able to enjoy. Anyways, happy planning to you all! :D

POR looks to be the nicest looking, in my opinion. It has the charm I am looking for, for sure. Only... It is so darn enormous! I'll have to rent a bike to get to the bus stop. (and I heard the bus system is atrocious) (Confirm/Deny). I would much rather take the monorail.
.
When you check in online, you can request for your room to be near transportation. We stayed at Pop last time and it was a three minute walk from the bus stop to the room because I put that on there.
