To be fair, I think your hate is based largely on misunderstanding. What you describe certainly is not what is discussed among the Disney-community on Twitter. The conversations are generally informative, and there is almost no nastiness there as compared to forums. Maybe if you followed a bunch of 10 year old girls you'd read the crap you mentioned, but not if you follow Disney sites, well-informed fans, and Imagineers.

But, I suppose people will always hate on whatever new technology comes to be. When forums were the new thing, I'm sure plenty of people mischaracterized them and arbitrarily hated them.

I'm not trying to start an argument here but please don't act like you know me. Thanks. I've been up to my neck with technology since the early days of Apple. That still doesn't mean that I shouldn't see Twitter as utterly useless. If you don't then fine. But please don't make an assumption about me when you don't even know who I am. I know Twitter has it's place. Mostly for tween girls, but I also recognize that there are a few spots in that garbage and hipster mess that are useful. Like the Disney channels. But I'd rather not get involved with it even to find out the "tidbits" that get disseminated there. That's what I was saying. I still see it as useless utterings about what people are eating for lunch and who is hanging with who, etc...

Told you.

Ahhh, I should have known. LOL Of course you're going to have a little of that here. It seems to fill some peoples days.

Not trying to start a Twitter flame war, but this again shows you don't really understand Twitter. First of all, it has a pretty diverse userbase, but its two mostly populated groups are young people living in urban cities and middle aged professionals. Tween girls are more likely to use Tumblr, not Twitter.

And again, if you see it as useless "utterings about what people are eating for lunch" you're just following the wrong people. I agree that it's the best place to quickly learn about Disney news (or any news for that matter) without negativity, because you can simply unfollow the sources that you don't enjoy hearing from.

I'm not trying to act like I "know" you. I'm just saying I've never met a person who claimed they "didn't like Twitter" after TRULY giving it an extended try. If all you did was follow Disney and then quit, you didn't really experience it. The @Disney feed is not that great (just a lot of quotes and pictures) but Disney news feeds from fans are really informative and entertaining. I hear about things on Twitter days before they appear on these boards.

Didn't mean to get your panties in a bunch...

I think you are trying to start an argument. Unsurprisingly I might add.

It is pretty clear you don't quite understand Twitter. And that is fine. If you chose to stay ignorant about it, thats cool, just do not go bashing something you do not understand. It's silly.

This is why message boards need a "like" button or a +1 feature.

Ha, touche, Steve. I should've read the WDWMagic story, too. I usually check a variety of places for news (including and especially here), but I must admit that I often skip over the actual news posts in favor of reading the commentary discussing them in the forums!

I'm not making any assumptions about you, you're making them about Twitter. If you said, "there is no such thing as gravity" and I retorted, "yes, there is," I'm not making an assumption about you, I'm making an objective statement concerning gravity.

The same goes here. There are many great and beneficial uses for Twitter. You imply it's for tween girls who update what they're doing every second of the day. That is objectively inaccurate. If you don't want to use it, more power to you, but your statement, which was purportedly objective, was inaccurate. That has nothing to do with "knowing you."

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I hope this was an actual meeting of substance, and I assume it was, rather than just something posed for the sake of the DPB.

Back on the topic, I really am curious which areas of DAK they were exploring. If I were there, I would have crept behind them and tried to eavesdrop on everything they said.

(And then I would have tweeted it - hehe)

Any chance you could direct me to a list of decent Disney news twitter feeds?

Jim Hill has stated that the area where Camp Minnie Mickey is, is where Avatar is going and that the spot north of Asia is being held aside for a Panda exhibit once Shanghai is done. He stated that Festival of the Lion King is scheduled to stay in its current spot but everything else would be taken over by Avatarland, and possibly even Rainforest Cafe, which would be relocated.

Whoa, whoa whoa WHOA!! Hold on a second........not to jump off topic but Pandas in AK???? Could this be potentially and exchange by the Chinese gov't for building Shanghai? Pandas potentially coming to AK is HUGE news (IF true).

LOL Never was upset. I actually, at first, sat here open mouthed in complete unbelief at that unnecessary flaming on my personal opinion that took place, then I remembered where I am. That is standard operating procedure here. LOL Then I have been laughing my *** off ever since. :ROFLOL:

I'd try to find a list like those to which SyracuseOrange linked, except with more than 7 sources. Maybe one with around 50 or so. I don't use lists so I can't really help there. I would NOT follow all 29 official Disney accounts. A lot of them are just quotes, links to the Parks Blog, and "did you know" or "what is your favorite" type junk. Most unofficial Disney websites also have twitter streams, so just search for your favorites.

Yeah, the first one I posted wasn't the best, but it's a good "beginner list" if you don't want to be too overwhelmed. You yourself have a decent "Disney" list...

If the sources SyracuseOrange posted are decent feeds and not a 10 year old posting then I'd consider giving Twitter another chance.

We're getting a little off topic again, but if you don't want to be overwhelmed by Disney news, simply following @WDWMagic and @TheDisneyBlog is a good place to start.

Jim Hill seems to be contradicting himself. He also said that The Lion King show would be moved to Africa to make room for Avatar at CMM.:)
