James Bond... your opinion.

I was recently researching the Indiana Jones - Epic Stunt Spectacular on Wikipedia.org, and it stated that the show’s original concept, was a James Bond attraction. Though complication quickly arose, due to cross negotiations with companies.

Does anyone else think that the Disney-MGM Studios should have an attraction based on MGM's biggest multi-million dollar franchise?

I am NOT, under any circumstances, claming that this is a COMING attraction, I was just curious as to if there was someone out there like me, that believes this would be a nice "film-based" addition, to a "film-based" theme park.

PLEASE, no negativity!:ROFLOL:

P.S. Before anyone mentions the dilemma of the constantly changing portrayer of Commander Bond, I would like to say that there are MANY ways to avoid this problem. Like placing the guests in the shoes of the acclaimed assassin. Therefore, you would never have to display the face of the current actor. (Only the famous silhouetted insignia, for example.)

P.S.S. I am also NOT in ANY WAY suggesting that we replace INDY! I LOVE THE INDIANA JONES STUNT SPECTACULAR! :fork: If anyone got rid of that show- well, if anyone hears a big boom, followed by a big mushroom cloud of smoke... don't worry, it's under control. :hammer:

I highly doubt it. The movies are all about ______ and killing, not something Disney is really known for.

Hmmm, didn't know we couldn't use the three letter word for intercourse.

I think a James Bond attraction is a great idea. Its an MGM franchise athat would fit well at the MGM studios. They could make it a 00 training facility, MI-6 or whatever.

Darn it. I'd love a show about _____.

Last year one of the arm chair imagineers on this site suggested that the Studios add a Bond attraction similar to SpiderMan at IOA. I thought this was really good idea.

To Bond or not ...

I think it could be fun. I'm in Ohio, near the Kings Island park. They have an "Italian Job" themed ride (hang in there - it relates). The ride involves being inside a car and running through themed areas - a helicopter "shoots at you", and the cars race around, through tunnels and splashing through water, etc.

If there's a need for a "high-speed" ride, either train, car, etc., a Bond-themed attraction would work just fine, IMHO.

And it doesn't need to be about ___. :animwink: It can be about action.

would of been nice - but which era (bond) ;)

id personally like to see a bombed out village with bond in an army tank ala golden eye ;)

although i think sony own mgm now so a sinking house in venice ala casino royale is a no no :(

im personally not a fan tbh - but it would be great to watch :)

i think a show about _____, would be a ppv type scenario :p

I personally am not a fan of Bond but I do see how it would translate well to a theme park attraction. I would much rather sit through a Bond themed ride than an actual Bond movie. If they built it I would definitely ride it and who knows...it might even make me a fan of the movies...NAAAHHH!

It could be since doesn't MGM own the rights to James Bond?

But Wikipedia might also be confused since Indiana Jones was supposed to be another character based off James Bond, since Steven Spielburg wanted to make that type of movie.

I love Bond and I love playing Goldeneye, but at this point, I feel like they are/are in the process of losing rights here and there? I have no clue.. I'm still mad about Roger Rabbit.

Yes, and Aerosmith sings nursery rhymes.:p

It would be showing stunts...not ______.:brick:

Oh I know, just bringing up a point that Disney would probably use to shoot down an idea. It could be a fun attraction no doubt. There's no room for another stunt show, unless they would retheme LMA. As a matter a fact, that'd be a great idea. Get rid of the worst attraction on the property and get a very popular franchise in.

Hopefully, the above link works. Post #15 from some dude who has had his account suspended says that Disney doesn't have the rights to the Bond franchise since that wasn't in the contract Eisner originally signed. I'm reasonably sure that I've seen that info in other places as well. Too bad, cuz a 007 attraction could help restore some of the lost lustre to the Studios and make it the must do place it was in 90's again.

While I don't like LMA, I wouldn't call it the worst attraction on property.

LMA > Beauty and the Beast, Great Movie Ride with a bad host (it's not even close with a decent host), Playhouse Disney (unless you're a kid or have kids) and probably some other stuff I've purged from my memory.

I MIGHT actually like it more than our version of Fantasmic!, but that's just how much I hate Pocahantas.

I had never heard that Indy was going to be a Bond show. I had heard that there was talk of converting LMA into a bond show when it came here but the licensing was problematic.

Poor man's substitute, perhaps, but I thought the LMA Stunt Show was their attempt to do something Bond-ish without paying to have Bond.

I certainly wouldn't mind a Bond-related attraction, perhaps a first-person motion simulator attraction. The problem in obtaining the rights, though, doesn't lie with MGM (or Sony which now owns MGM). It's with the family of Albert "Cubby" Broccolli. They control the rights to the Bond Film franchise. MGM/Sony distributes the movies, and of course try to influence the direction they make. But if the Broccolli estate doesn't like an idea, the idea is dead. And they like relinquishing control about as much as Disney likes to relinquish control. Which is, not at all.

I owuldn't be surprised if WDW has tried to develop Bond idead for the parks, only to have negotiations break down as the Broccolli estate either asks for too mjuch $$$ for access to the franchise, and/or more creative input than Disney is willing to give.

You beat me to it. LMA is the ONLY attraction at Disney World I won't visit again unless it is drastically changed (I despise Aerosmith, but I will at least ride Rock n' Rollercoaster for the coaster itself). I'm not a great fan of James Bond, either, though I did enjoy the Pierce Brosnan films (maybe because I still see him as Remington Steele), but I think a James Bond overlay could only help that loud Tram Tour destroyer. If Bond could give it more of the so-called action they scream about in the name, I'm definitely all for it. Actually, I'm for razing the theater all together and creating an amazing tram tour instead, but barring that I'll take a James Bond Stuntshow or even a Cars Stuntshow.

I love the idea of Bond, but not so much a stunt show. People watch a 007 film and imagine what it would be like to be Bond (without the threat of death at least). Any attraction would have to put the guest in the place of Bond. Begin with a briefing from Q or M where they are looking at you as if you're Bond. Then go off on the adventure. I think even women could relate to this.
