It'sNot Christmas Without our Magic Friends

I would think so.
Although I'm sure some might disagree. We do have mountains, if you like that sort of thing.

Love mountains. But not yours :lookaroun

Where's Nicole?
How dare she be enjoying time with her family instead of with us?

Seriously.

The farm is probably bigger than her state.

That would be unfortunate.

BIL wants to bring in a huge dinner to the nursing home for all of us to have there. We would prefer just to bring in a few desserts and keep it simple, especially since anything we cook here would be barely warm by the time we got there, and MIL would probably not eat it anyway.

So, big family Christmas bruhahah brewing.....

Uh oh

It always sneaks up, but even more so this year.
How could it be already???

I really don't know. I can't believe it's almost 2009

Long story, but it basically boils down to what we want to do for MIL this year.

Ours are pleasant enough.
Certainly not awe-inspiring or anything close to it.

How can you have never made it to the Cocoa area... it's "Orlando's Closest Beach!"

Well, yeah...we have been around that area.
We've driven from WDW to NASA a few times.
Highway driving though.

I have found that my mom's become a creature of the nursing home habit. Anything too far from routine just flusters her. In your MIL's case, I think just the pleasure of all your company would be enough for her.

Exactly! We brought her to BIL's for Thanksgiving, and it really wore her out - she just wanted to be back in her familiar surroundings. BIL just can't understand that - probably never will.

I guess that's close enough.

I'd like to take the kids to ocean sometime when we're down there - is Cocoa worth the trip?

Personally, I think Cocoa beach is extremely lame. There's not really much to see but the Cocoa Beach Pier and Ron Jon, neither of which would attract your kids, probably.

I would instead suggest the west coast if you want to go to a great beach. Tampa is only an hour in the other direction. I've never been to a Tampa beach, but if you go another hour south to Sarasota, they have some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida, if not the US. Siesta Key is absolutely WONDERFUL.

I totally agree. We've stayed at Cocoa to watch a launch, but you can't compete with the Gulf beaches. We love Siesta Key and Anna Maria Island - real Florida, as we like to call it!
