Our governor is pushing legislation through that pretty much forces him to. If he doesn't go now, he'll have to work for 7 more years, and retire with less money and no COLAs. It's pretty much a no-brainer, but it's a big cut for us now.

The new legislation would take effect April 1 if all goes as planned, so we need a little cushion of time there to make everything is in place. So we'll get back from FL, he'll teach for a week, then he's out of there.

Last night we both went through a roller coaster of emotions about it, but today we've pretty much come to terms with it. We're both nervous, but he's hoping to find another job in the meantime. Of course it doesn't help that RI has the highest unemployment rate in the country.
