It has been awful here in Chiberia. The kids finally went back to school today, after 2 days off. When I took DS to school this morning, we had a feels like temp of -18. Positively balmy after the -35 and lower we have been having. The snow that is on the ground looks freeze dried. I have been planning Disney getaways in my mind (that aren't happening), as well as staring at mental Palm trees. I just can't take it any more. @figmentfan423 I saw today 51 days until spring. Lord help that groundhog if he delays it... We can reenact Merida's archery shooting scenes, and bag a bunch of ground hogs for your stew.

Shortly after 1:00 I picked up youngest M from GSU so she wouldn't have to drive. We couldn't even get into the down "corkscrew" in the parking deck! Gave up after 3o+ mins and decided to grab a pizza. @ 2:30 we made it back to the deck and out of the deck in only 15 mins..... Drove her car and left my truck....ya think they would boot it for leaving it in non-overnight on-campus parking? :) We made it home (35 miles to the East)from downtown ATL via I-20 in ONLY 3 hours. 1 hour to get out of parking deck and make to the interstate. Glad to make it home safe and feel lucky to have made it home relatively quickly.

Have peeps in Charleston saying Chucktown is shut down as well.....

We got about 1/2 inch of snow last nighy. County schools went late; colleges did not. Not that it bothered me; I start at the crack of noon...

Driveway was the worst part of my commute today, other than having to take the expressway and dealing with the usual nonsense there:banghead:. Even though The jackrabbit (my sedan) is out of the shop now, but I might take the SUV again tomorrow. Easier. Heated seats still work...

I worked on making pulled pork during the day today... for sandwiches tomorrow. We finished off the homemade chicken noodle soup and fresh baked bread for dinner tonight.

Its always funny living in Wisconsin. Everyone in the south is saying its cold when its 30. We had off monday and tuesday and two other days this year because it was so cold. -20 degrees and felt like -45. Now there are people that are colder than that. A part in northern Wisconsin reached a feels like temp of -75!!!! And an inch of snow in the south= a snow day (except they had ice which is really bad for us up here also) while a foot of snow= a most likely closing for our schools. Its really interesting how the states vary so much when it comes to weather.
PS Im not trying to sound like a jerk or anything when I was comparing us to the south, it was just for effect and to have fun. I also know that there are places far worse than what Wisconsin is seeing.

Yum. I can taste it as I'm now pretending my ham off the bone and garlic mashed potatoes are Goulash.

Goulash is one of the handful dishes my Gran taught me to make before she passed. No recipe, pinches of this and that. Gran was from the old country and recipes were taught not written out.
