Has anybody had any Children's Place employees purchasing product at your store yet? Nobody came in on Sunday, (but we had two CP's who were 'home for a couple days') and I work tonight again, but I was just wondering if anybody had any yet?

We had the manager from TCP at our mall visit us the other day...she said her staff sent her down to get the scoop on exactly what they get their discount on...she also said that they are all excited about being able to come to TDS and use their discount to make purchases....seems they are very happy about the purchase of our stores...that have definitely gained from this merger.....we had three Chrildren's Place employees come in on Black Friday and make some purchases.....but as far as I know, none of us have visited their store yet...but come to think of it, none of us at our Disney Store have children that are age appropriate....

Ok can someone clarify this for me? What exactly does this mean for the store's future merchandise? Will we see less adults stuff or just more clothing overall? Will we end up seeing more toys (something theyve been lacking a lot lately compared to past years)? I'm not really sure what will change so if someone can help me, thanks!

You want more toys ? The stores are packed to the walls with toys, you may want to stop by your local the childrens place disney store and see.I worked there for 6 years and this is the most toys we have ever had this year. They say they are going to have adult clothes but we will see.Just wondering how its going to work with the Disney catalog and disney direct are going to be in direct compitition with the childrens place disney store how thats going to work out.I personally will still be purchaseing from the catalog and online and not going to the mall anymore.I think it was a huge mistake by the childrens place not getting the catalog or the online, they arent going to start there online thedisneystore .com till next year.I still think the stores are doomed sorry to say.

I just got my mailer with upcoming sales. TCP has done more advertising, in one week, for TDS then we ever had before. Its great that people know what's going on.

We had a great Black Friday. We did almost the 15% they wanted us to do over last year. We still had one store in a our district beat us, but for not being in the biggest mall ever, we do hold our ground. I started at 6am on Friday morning and we were already packed. The line really never ended all day.

Our biggest problem is that we are out of boxes and our computers were down last week and we couldn't order them in time for Friday. People were irrate yesterday. It was like the world was crashing down on them or somethingg because we didn't have boxes. Let me tell you, my mom is going in for testing tomorrow to see what they spot is on her liver that they found and some stupid people are worried about boxes? Oh well...some people are just petty, I guess.

How did everybody else do?

We just missed 15%, too! It was so incredibly busy and we had a line at 4:30AM!!! We also had some bad experiences with Children's Place Associates!! We saw associates taking money from other people outside the store with lists in hand. We had associates asking for multiple receipts. We had associates asking for their discount wtihout their ids. It was awful!! Talk about abuse! When our manager talked to TCP manager so said she would mention it to her associates! Mention it- we've had good cast members get fired for discount abuse!! It was definately not a pleasant experience with TCP!!! :fork:

Do you know how hard it is to start a new website and catalog??? I did my advertising internship with Ross Simons- a new catalog and website isn't just something that can happen over night!! Can't you be positive about anything???

Sorry if you dont think Im ever positive, try working at the disney store for over 6 years and loosing all your WDW benefits and see how you feel about this hole deal.Anyone who thinks this take over by the childrens place is a good thing has lost it.And as far as the childrens place employees useing there discount for other people that may not be a problem with your new owners like it was with Disney.Remember you are not a castmember anymore you are an employee you no longer work for Disney. There hows that for being negative:xmas: As Ive said before I have nothing but good wishes for the childrens place making it.Im mad at disney not the childrens place, but my only reason for working there was to work for disney and the parks discounts. Now I nolonger work for disney and the park passes are a joke. Now that I think about it your right I am negative and I dont care:mad:

Sorry but I don't see many toys at the ones I go to. They are always the SAME thing. They're either The Incredibles (which are new of course), those buff sized heroes such as Peter Pan and Hercules,etc.., Toy Story action figures, and Power rangers and stuff. Sorry but that's not exactly a huge selection considering most if not all of those can be found right down the street at Target or Walmart. In fact, Target had more of a variety than DS had the other day.

Well our store has tons, so much we had to have a off site to store it all this christmas. We have more princess toys than anything else this year. And yes I agree you do have a better selection of disney items from target or wal mart thats why I think the childrens place is going to have a tuff time making it work.

Believe it or not, we are very low on almost everything in our store. Plush is down, TS toys are almost all out and Incredible action figures are all out and running out quickly. We really need shipments, badly...but it's a good sign. Not too many TCP people trying to buy yet. Still sad about not being Disney, but I'm not leaving. Still love the place and the people. To me it will always be The Disney Store.

Consider the alternative....Instead of finding a buyer who was willing to continue running the stores, Disney could have just shut them all down and layed everyone off.

We had a 44% increase on Black Friday. It was awesome. Our seasonals (and regulars of course) really did a great job at the box office. I did line line control most of the day. We had fun this weekend. :sohappy:

That sounds sorta like our store. Our stuff has been flying off the shelves. I was filling shelves today and was surprised at how bare so many of our shelves are backstage. We're getting shipments, we're just selling a lot too.

On a sad note, I had to turn in my TDS ID today. Even though it was paper because I'm just seasonal, it was still my Disney ID.

On a sadder note, I had to turn in my 2 weeks notice this past weekend. I want to continue working there because I love the people and the store, but I have some scheduling conflicts coming up that can't be worked around. I would need 2 saturdays and a sunday off between now and Christmas, and those are black out days that I can't request off. My last day will probably be December 9, unless I can talk my French prof. into letting me take my final early so I can work the 11th (my scheduled final day).

I'm sorry to hear that you have to leave your store. Maybe some time you will be able to go back to your store.

The changes are taking some time to get used to, but I'll adapt. I still know in my heart who I work for. Plus, why leave (I need a second job at this point) when I'm working where I love?

How have your guests responded to the change-over? Most people don't know anything about it. Some have asked, but we always tell them they won't notice a difference, it's just us who will. Just wondering how everyone else is handling it.

I'm afraid I don't know percentages, but we did a massive amount of sales on Black Friday. We had at least 4 people filling, and that still wasn't quite enough to keep up for some time. For quite a while, the line was back almost to the mountain. The bad part was that my manager wasn't feeling very well, as she'd been working long hours all week. I was actually scheduled to work 6-noon, but ended up clocking in at 5:40 because they needed more cast members on the floor. I didn't see any TCP employees come in, but the area director of TCP came in and introduced herself around. She said that practically every customer over there was carrying a Disney Store bag. Oh well, back to school, and then back again to TDS over Christmas break.

Oh, and I didn't have any guest questions about the changeover. I was actually a little surprised. It really stunk having to fill out the TCP paperwork. What really got to me was all of the blanks that said "employee" instead of "cast member." Oh well. :(

That made me sad to read that. There was just something that made you feel a little closer to wdw when you saw the CM's, I know it's just a name, but it just reminded me of the parks. Do you all still feel like your CM's though, even though the name has changed? Is the feeling in the stores still Disney?

I really hope for all of you CM's (I'm still calling you that because you'll always be CM's to us) that TCP treats you well....you all deserve it! :xmas:
