Had our annual meeting at our store last night and found out the childrens place is taking over november 15 th.Very hard to even care at the meeting,probably one reason was it was my seventh pre-Xmas meeting hereing the same thing sell sell sell.She also said she has been told if disney didnt sell to the childrens place all the stores where going to close after this christmas anyway.Im going to stay till the end of November.Going in this week to make my final purchases with my 35% off.castmembers this is your final week to make room reservations at WDW they will honor them for the rest of the year but you have to make them before Nov 15th.Good by castmembers! hello childrens place employees.Forgot one thing thanks disney I worked there for 6 plus years and all they gave us as a going away gift was a pin wow!! glad I worked my ______ off for them Walt would be so proud of his company

The meeting last night was hard on all of us loyal CMs at my store. We have many CMs who have been there since our store opened. It makes me sad to think that they are going to leave and this is going to be my final holiday with the CMs I care so much about. And the pin...I described it to my friend today as the pin commorating the death of Disney's The Disney Store. It's a shame...I bet Walt is rolling over in his grave knowing how we are being treated. But...I for one still believe in what Walt started and that is the main reason I'm still staying. That's just my opinion though... :veryconfu

I only wish you and the childrens place the best.I do hope there plan does save the store and name.Like I said before I only worked there because I wanted to work for the disney company and be a castmember.With the childrens place I wont be a castmember or get any discounts at WDW,that 3 tickets a year 1 day 1 park is a joke.Wondering when disney will take away my team disney credit card I wish they would let me keep it for life.But Im sure disney will take that away too.

I've worked at the Disneystore for 5 years. I have seen 7 managers go through in that time. We only have 10 CMs right now because they can't seem to hold on to any body. I talked to 8 of the CMs at our meeting and five of them including myself are leaving. It doesn't look good from where we stand.

Walt'sSon, I agree with you on the last few posts. I am sorry this happened to you.

The Disney Stores premiered as the gold standard in this type of store. They were the premiere place to get nice Disney things, if you couldn't go to the parks. Wall Street analysts would never understand this in their short-term, all-departments-must-show-quarterly-profit mentality, but they were a good idea (only overexpanded).

They were destination stores, not just the crappy cheap-stuff stores that they became.

And they encouraged people to buy trips to Walt Disney World later. The financial benefits to the company went far beyond the "Disney Store" revenue section of the income statement.

Now, they have ceded control of the most obvious public face of the company, relegated it to simply franchise fees from the Childrens Place, and cast off the additional WDW revenue that cast members spent with vacations that they would not have taken as often without their discount.
None of these items hits the "Disney Store" revenue line, but it does affect the company's revenue... and its reputation.

Oh, never mind. Market research shows that they just don't care! Sigh.

Well, I guess Children's Place is in control now. It's sad. I've only been able to be a TDS cast member since June of this year, and I've loved every minute of it. I'm gonna stay on, but it just won't be the same now that we aren't owned by the Company. I wonder how many of my store's cast members will be leaving. I've been kind of out of the loop, since I'm away at college, but I'll be working next week.

Found out the change is happening monday november 22nd,that day the managers will take away your disney ID and give you a new childrens place ID.They wont be getting mine back

Even though I'm not HCWalker, I can tell you that the mood in the store is light sometimes and very sad othertimes. I'm excited with the day after Thanksgiving coming up. But I know that some of my fellow CMs aren't going to be around after the holiday and that makes me sad. I'm losing some of my Disney family. I said to my one manager last night, what will happen in the future if theme park attendance goes down? Will they sell them to the highest bidder like cattle too? Only time will tell, I guess...

I'm working from 6 a.m.- 12:00 noon the day after Thanksgiving. It'll be my first day back since Summer (what a way to start!). It's also the first day after Thanksgiving I'll experience in retail (I'm scared!). I don't know who's staying and who's leaving, since I've only been in limited contact with my store, since I'm 3 1/2 hours away at college. Through my limited time there, I was still able to make a lot of friends among the cast members and managers, and I hate to think of losing them. I really wish I'd been able to join the cast earlier.

6AM I start. We open at 5am too...I'm excited though.

In years past, we've always ended up in the top ten in the company dollar wise, so we're hoping for that again...maybe even #1 that NYC is out of the picture! We were #2 behind them one year in the company! That was so exciting!

Glad Im only on call that night,I have to work my real job that day.We have found in the past some saturdays in december are worse than the day after thanksgiving.I am cleaning animation this saturday and I think tinkerbell will be coming down and going home with me.My manager is giving her to me for my years of service since disney doesnt care.I told her I would also like to have the teamwork award plaques since Im the only castmember left at our store whos name is on them.Keeping an eye on e bay for more animation pieces Im sure a lot will leave this week from stores.Im finally ok with leaving my store at the end of the month 6 years is enough.Time to move on,all my store friends left several years ago now all we have are these peppy kids that dont know squat about the disney company or ever been to there parks.

At our store we have not had the teamwork award given out sinse 2001 and I was the last one.I still wear the pin on my name tag,Im sure the childrens place has there own version.Heard on the news today that Sears bought K mart.Anyone growing up in the 70s like me remembers when sears and K mart where super power stores like wal mart is today.I hope sears can turn around k mart because I hate wal mart.Anyway I heard from a friend of mine that the childrens place employees are mad that the disney store employees are getting the 3 days free tickets and they are not.Im sure the ticket thing will end as soon as it starts Its a joke and a slap in the face anyway.

At our cast meeting, my manager told us that Children's Place is looking to put animation back in the stores. When we closed Providence they painted every piece of animation black and took a sledge hammer to it !! My current store has no animation!!!

I won the teamwork award twice in my old store. Children's Place is going to be giving out the teamwork award again. I also heard something about a Tigger pin. All we can do is wait and see!!

Our manager told us they are going to look like the castle stores,no animation I think a lot will leave the stores.We are the only store now in our state when the last one closed most of the cast came to our store they drive a hour to get there.Anyway they all took animation when there store closed the old managers garage is full Im trying to buy a couple things from her,they go for hundreds on disney auctions site.If I can get tinkerbell Ill be a happy camper.Last time night maintenance came in they they couldnt believe we still had all our animation he said only 3 stores still have there tinkerbells I told him I was getting ours and he wont see it next time.I even got some of the new carpet a couple years ago when they replaced it (helps to be friends with the manager and the carpet layers)the one carpet layer had enough to do his kids room.Im going to take pictures of our store before I quit so I can remember how it was to work for disney.We where told the store size will be cut in half and will be moved from the old location to a new spot in the mall.

I heard something sorta similar about how the stores will look. Not necessarily that the animation is leaving, but that they will all be remodeled to look like the castle stores. But, I also thought that they weren't gonna be exactly like the castle stores because they (at least the one in my area) look a little too sterile.

I heard the same thing too about the remodel of the stores. I hope I get to keep Chip and Dale! LOL

I also heard the Teamwork award is continuing...I hope it does. That is one thing I really want. I work so hard at my store and have never gotten it. Hopefully one day...soon...

Am I sad about the change over? Yes...but I'm still staying...I still work for Walt.

About TCP employees being upset about the passes...well, at least they weren't sold like cattle to the highest bidder. But anyway...have a wonderful and profitable day after Thanksgiving!
