I also laugh when I read the Wedding Announments in the sunday paper and when you read where they went on their honeymoon if it says Florida.." I always tell my hubby" you know their really going to Disney, they just don't want anyone to know"!!..Then their are the ones and It says Walt Disney World..Yeah that just warms my heart.....and I know the sickness willl start!

we've lived in several different states over the years but have had most of our years in florida including now living for the last 15+ years 2 1/2 hours north of orlando and there were multiple years when i lived in orlando, even graduated high school in orlando...but with that said when we go to disney we go to disney...we never leave disney property and tell everyone we're going to disney. we have a few other events we have to be in orlando for each year but for us it's totally separate, disney has nothing to do with orlando.

yep. we say Disney. Because in reality, we aren't going to Florida. I don't think we spend over 20.00 dollars outside of the parks and we drive straight there and straight back. All the way to Tennessee. So we just say Disney World.

We always tell people Disney, and there is always someone that says that it was boring there for them and it is really only for kids. Thats when I usually ask if they have actually ever been, but to each his own.

I live in Florida, and people from other states who have only been to WDW are surprised when they visit me, whether they love or hate WDW.

I live in a 100 year old house in the city, with shops, theaters, museums, etc all within walking distance. It is not anything like the neighborhoods near WDW - Winter Park would be the closest in feel. And most WDW visitors never go near there.

It's much closer to the "new" East Side in Providence (vs the colonial one) Cleveland Park in DC, or any area of a city that was a suburb before WW II, before the suburbs were expanded miles away from downtown, and has been maintained or recently gentrified.

I never say Florida because I am a resident, but it's funny that no one ever assumes that you are referring to California.

That's what I was thinking.

For me, I usually just say where I'm going. If I was going to Baltimore, I don't says Maryland. Or if going to Cooperstown, I don't say New York. I guess I'm just specific. Then again, if I were going to Hawaii, I would say Hawaii; because what else is there to do in Hawaii than to just be in Hawaii?
