O.k., I know I got the abbreviation wrong in the title......

Ever been waiting to see the movie in the tree of life (I have seen it 4 or 5 times now), and you get the push and shove?

There is nothing like waiting underground in cramped quarters, with 100ish people, plenty of seating to go around, and wham! It is like the biggest band in the worl hit the stage and everyone RUSHES to the front row.

I have seen little one separated from parents and freaking out, grown women get pushed out of the way, and some men even get tossed around so to speak.

Anyone else experience this ?

Why does this happen?

what's with all the push and shove? your going to get in to see it dude, I promise , every seat is a good one.

It is not just with that show we have experianced it with Mickey Philharmagic, Fantasmic, even the haunted Mansion as soon as they allow you to get in it is a total cattle stampead.

The scientific explanations fall under such terms as mob mentality, heard behavior, and crowd hysteria. It is by no means unique to Disney. Anytime you see a large group of people in a confined area with one way out you will see the same thing. Go by and Wal-Mart or Best Buy on black Friday and you will see the same thing times 100.

That's always a problem with those large que waiting areas. Muppet Vision 3-D is like that too. Even Tower of Terror, in the tv room, everyone knows to go to the back corner where the door is.

Honestly this happens in every attraction where they have you wait in one area and then open the door and release the masses... remember the smack down at the tea cups???

Its just another example of how our socitey has become very "me" oriented. The idea that "I paid a lot to be here and I want the firs/best of everything" is running wild right now and those of us who were raised with manners just have to try and stay out of the insane people's way...

Yes unfortunately it’s the lemming effect.
I once got pushed over when the doors opened for Muppets 3D of all things. A very nice cast member came right over and helped me up, apologized for the idiot who pushed me and inquired if I was hurt. I told her I was fine, thanked her for her concern and made sure to stop at the office (can’t remember what it is called at DHS) on the way out of the park to commend her.
BTW the idiot that pushed me of course stopped in the middle of the row and sat down.

Bugs life is the one show I hate to wait for. I have to agree that the people in that area tend to be very pushy and completely on top of you. Just worse than the other in my opinion.

"please move all the way down the isle so we can seat everyone"

See...it's the mentality of the mobs described in this thread which lead to my family in myself adopting a much more relaxed method of enjoying the parks. We don't break out necks to get anywhere...don't even attempt to get good seats for any of the shows or films (if we do, great...otherwise...we can always see it again on our trip) and don't fight against crowds getting to lines of breeching line ettiquette. It's not worth it...we keep to ourselves...make sure our girls are having a blast and keep stress levels LOW!

Now if someone starts walking RIGHT up on my heels behind me...or running over me with a stroller...then we might have words!

F! is ridiculous! we went to the later show on our last trip, waited for at least 45 minutes to an hour with hundreds of other people. it was hot and really sticky. the doors open and BAM everyone just runs in. my family has no little kids anymore the youngest is 10 and we almost got separated going in. we created a chain with each other and just took our time. when the options are get a good seat and lose a family member or keep everyone together and not get the first pick of seats I'd pick keeping everyone together.

I seriously hate it when people fart in line. I've encountered a few and it was an horrible thing to stay around the fart even when the line isnt moving.

One of my biggest pet peeves falls right into this category. One of the few things urk me more than when people cut in line or stampede is when someone walking in front of you just stops dead in their tracks for no reason & you plow into the back of them.

Recently my wife & I were out shopping at Best Buy & and this random guy in front of me came to a complete stand still with no warning & I met his back up close & personal with force. (And no, there was no one in front of him or any other reason to stop.) He turned around & looked at me like I had some nerve to just walk into the back of him. I looked at him & said "Thank you! I don't know how you knew it, but this is EXACTLY where I wanted to stop. I would have gone right past it if you hadn't stopped me. Thanks a lot *$$****!" Usually I'm pretty mellow about stuff like this, but for whatever reason this day I said something. He had the most puzzled & lost look on his face, like he literally had no idea he had done it. Unfortunately I was a lot louder than I thought, and was really embarassed.

Funny post script to the story is a few minutes later this older couple came up to me and my wife & said "I wish I had the nerve to put people like that in their place. The world needs more people like you that stick up for themselves. Good for you!" and walked off. My wife chuckled & whispered to me "I would've paid good money to see her tell that guy off".

Just another random example of people being clueless & rude.

It is nice that you are doing that, it is just the rest of the folks we need to do the same thing.

I also hate the heard that pushes their way through at the Haunted Mansion. Because of this, I always try to pay attention to where the door is and stay as far away from it as possible (unless I am the first person in the room, and I may as well go by the door). I would rather be the last person on the ride than to get pushed and shoved or separated from my family.
