Pre-Trip It's Never Too Early to Start a PTR, Right?!?

Exciting news!! We're going on another cruise! It just won't be until 2021!

We have promised the kids that we would take them each on a trip as a graduation present, and Logan is finishing up his sophomore year. If you have read any of my other PTRs or even trip reports, you know that I am a planner! I have been on his case to decide what he may want to do so we can 1) start saving money, and 2) I can start researching. He has finally decided that he wants to go on another cruise. He took a few days to decide if he wanted an Alaskan itinerary or a tropical itinerary. He finally decided on a tropical trip. Now we just have to wait for the 2021 itineraries to be released to decide if he wants a longer Caribbean trip or a shorter, but possible Castaway Cay double dip Bahamas trip.

Who: Me (Amy), Brian, Logan (16 now), Lily (14 now), and Owen (11 now)

Here I am with the kids on the last cruise we took in 2014:

Unfortunately, Brian ended up not being able to go on that cruise, so he and I took one later that year.

Hope that you and your family get to go on your cruise this summer, but it sounds like you have great trip already lined up as an alternative.

And congrats on your son's acceptance to so many great colleges!

I ordered these from Etsy because Logan told me he would wear them for pictures for me! Now I'm really conflicted because I would love to have a picture in front of the castle, but I really want him to be able to go on his cruise!! I guess a picture at Castaway Cay with the Fantasy in the background would be just as good! I wish Disney would just decide so I know which plans to concentrate on!

Still holding out hope that this cruise may happen! Not holding my breath, but still hopeful! Brian, Logan, Lily, and myself are fully vaccinated, and Ohio just opened up appointments for 12-15 year olds, so Owen has his first and second shots scheduled!! It will make me a lot more comfortable traveling this summer whichever trip we get to take! I can make dining ADRs on Friday, so it would be nice to know if the cruise is going to happen or not, but I guess I'll plan for it to not and cancel things if it does!

Our high school started a tradition last year of hanging banners of each of the seniors throughout the community and then giving them the banners at the end of the summer.

Only 2 more weeks until graduation!! 60 days until the trip starts and hopefully 66 days until the cruise!

It's so exciting!! I hope the cruise doesn't get canceled!

I thought that the vaccine wasn't approved for under 18s! They aren't doing them here for minors, but then, we're still on 60+ years and those in high risk categories. I finally get my first shot tomorrow!

Good luck getting the ADRs you want! I always find it stressful, and I imagine even more so now since not all the restaurants are open so there are fewer to choose from and everyone is competing for the same few. I hope you get the ones you want!

The vaccine has been approved for 16+ for awhile now and just yesterday was approved for 12-15.

The ADRs are definitely stressing me out, especially since I don't know if we even really need them!!

You're so lucky you will have everyone vaccinated! My kids are 5 and 11 so I need to wait awhile for the next round of approvals. I live in an area where there's not a high amount of people getting vaccinated so I can't wait until my kids can be vaccinated.

So, I'm feeling better today! Like I said above, I knew the cruise was going to end up cancelled, but it still was hard to read the official email from DCL! However, there are some new things at WDW that we are excited to see and do! Here is the new itinerary:

Sunday, July 11 leave super early in the morning for our 14 hour drive to arrive at Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal. Dinner will be at Big Fire and we will spend the evening at CityWalk.

Monday, July 12 spend the day at Volcano Bay where we have again rented a cabana that I somehow got for a fantastic price

Tuesday, July 13 we switch from Cabana Bay to Pop Century where we will hopefully have 2 connecting rooms. We plan to spend the majority of the day at Disney Springs and visiting a few resorts. I was unable to get a brunch reservation at Chef Mickey's, but I will keep trying for one

Wednesday, July 14 this is our SeaWorld day

Thursday, July 15 Epcot, lunch will be at Via Napoli

Friday, July 16 DHS, no ADRs this day as I am hoping we get a boarding group and didn't want to worry about it interfering with an ADR

Saturday, July 17 AK, no ADRS this day, we will likely eat one meal at Flame Tree and one at Satuli Canteen

Sunday, July 18 MK, still deciding whether we want lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe or dinner at Tony's. I know which I want, but 2 of the kids want Tony's. We will see what happens!!

Monday, July 19 DSH, I have a late afternoon ADR for Beaches and Cream for us to get ice cream

Tuesday, July 20 departure day:( I do have a breakfast ADR for Chef Mickey's this day in case I can't get one for our first day

The kids are super excited for DHS since all of the Toy Story stuff as well as Star Wars will be new to us! I'm a little concerned about the increased capacity, but I'm hoping they will extend the hours to account for that. We shall see!

And I have already made a few changes to our itinerary. I made a 2:00 reservation at Homecomin' for the 12th, I dropped the Tony's reservation and made Whispering Canyon Cafe a dinner ADR instead of lunch and got a Crystal Palace lunch ADR on the 18th and we will decide which we want as we get closer to time, and I made a 7:20 Oga's Cantina reservation on the 19th. I'm sure there will be many more changes before we leave and we are still debating on whether to upgrade our tickets to park hoppers.
