Its a pin miracle...

I am so excited. Last August my wife and I went ahead and booked our next Disney trip for this upcoming November. I had been doing everything I could to set us up to receive a pin code but wasn't expecting to receive any offers until at least sometime this summer. Lo and behold I received a pin offer in the mail yesterday. I'm hopefully going to save about $400. :) A big thank you to Richard at Kingdom Konsultants for the advice on trying to get a pin code, it worked! :sohappy:

OR you THINK you will be saving $400... We all know that the way it works is that this only means more money for snacks, t shirts, collectable pins, assorted souvenirs, dinners, and a host of other things. :ROFLOL:
Enjoy the savings while you have it. Glad you found the pin offer. Enjoy

Would you like to share that pin, or at least let me know what you got (room discount, Free dining)?

We received one today in the mail, good for 11/1-11/16 & 11/24-11/30. It was only 10% off a room (all resort levels), and the resort we want to stay at wasn't available so we will just wait for a better offer. (This was the first time I had seen a discount less than 20% off room)

That's not true, unless the person is a APH, or DVC member. I have used many pin # that were not sent directly to me

I think you might be confusing discount codes with pin codes.

Discount codes are usually 3 letters like: AGV and can be used by anyone.

Pin codes are usually 16 (?) numbers/ letters like: 12345XXV678910 and are tied to a specific person's name and can't be used by anyone else. Trust me, if it were true, I'd be booking using my parent's pin code in a heartbeat! :D

I have gotten a pin code a few times but was never able to use any of them. :( One time, I did get one mailed to my house in my sisters name (Why, we have no idea.) and we really could have used it on our trip but Disney wouldn't let us use the code unless my sister was on our reservation and she wasn't. So, unless they have changed this system, you cannot use someone elses code because it has a name attached to it.

Only gotten a couple pin codes over the years. One was for my adult niece but sent to my address because we had taken a trip with her the year before. I was sure we couldn't use it but called anyway and they did give us the pin code, saying although it wasn't our name, it was our address. Have no idea why this happened, I have read many times on these forums about the name on the pin needing to match the name on the reservation.

Yeah, I've gotten a handful of PIN codes but I was never able to use them.

Login to Disneyworld.com (MUST login) and price out trips... Do this ALL time time... I think they're system keeps track of your pricing out trips and if you keep doing it, but don't book, thy'll send you a pin to entice you :)

According to the pamphlet that came with the pin, it is for 30% off of rack rates. Thats sounds about right for the amount I am saving. :D

As for how I "worked " the system: :drevil:

1. If you don't already have an account on the WDW website, create one and not just one, create an account for everyone in your party,
2. Price the trip you are taking or would like to take,
3. Save the trip, don't book it, on everyone's account that you created and finally,
4. When the moon is full, find your favorite WDW plush character, get a real chicken, build an altar, and sacrifice the chicken with the plush character and pray to the pin gods. Make sure the plush character is not a cheap knockoff from China or you might make the pin gods mad. Not a good thing.

Good luck.

I received the 20% off pin code. Then today, I opened up my email and my husband received the Free Dining pin code good through June 30th. This was quite a shock!

I was always able to use the pin codes, and I mean the four # ones  . BTW. I always speak to a person, not the compter.

The 4-digit ones aren't PIN codes. Those are discounts available to the general public. A PIN code is a personalized offer that is only redeemable by the person it was sent to.

A PIN is a type of a discount, but not all discounts are PINs. From the sound of things, you've never gotten a true PIN code before.

Thanks for the tips. I already did everything you recommended yesterday save for creating accounts for the other members of my party.

My wife thought the chicken sacrifice was a bit extereme, but I'll sure she'll come around when the PIN code shows up.

Now to go set up an account for the wife and kids...

Thanks again!
