@MickeyWaffleCo. any way we could bump the due date for this up to tomorrow? I've been non stop busy for the past couple days but have a day off tomorrow where I can devote some time to it. Generally I don't think having such short windows of deadlines is a great idea for a game just trying to get off the ground so you might want to tweak that a bit. :) Really want this game to succeed, it's a great concept!

Gotcha. Iā€™ll extend it for you. The later chapters have longer deadlines. šŸ˜

I will be out of town this weekend, so expect the prompt to be posted by someone else with my seal of approval. šŸ˜…

Mr. CEO was calling for a replacement of Test Track. One of his executives suggested to include an IP (since thatā€™s always the answer). Pixarā€™s Cars was suggested. Someone else suggested Vannelope from Wreck it Ralph. Mr. CEO responded, ā€œWell, how about both?ā€

Marlys from Marketing mentioned that the best part of the ride is the outdoor portion. Mr. CEO responded to this by saying, ā€œWell, letā€™s gut the inside of the building!ā€

Marlys continued by saying, ā€œWe have to compete with Universal. They have that spiffy new Super Nintendo World in Japan.ā€ Joe the intern responded, ā€œOne thing they havenā€™t done is Battle Mode in Mario Kart. That is the best part of the game!ā€ To which Mr. CEO responded, ā€œGreat! We have our rideā€”McQueen and Vennelopeā€™s Battle Mode!ā€

There would be continuous loading so that people would join the battle in action. After being in the battle area for a while, the cars would go to the fast, outside portion.

When the vehicle design Imagineers went to design their part, they determined that bumper cars were the best type of vehicles to go with. ā€œItā€™s so fun bumping into people in the game!ā€ With the space needed for the bumpers, the high-speed motor found in the Test Track cars was determined to not be needed. The bumper cars only needed to go 5 mph, but this allowed for the guests to control them in an epic-sized bumper cars course.

After the building was gutted and the battle area had been designed, the show design Imagineers were brought in to do their programming. This is when they discovered that the outside portion of the ride would only be at 5 mph (rather than the 65 mph they had been planning on), which also meant that 60 percent of the ride would be away from the Battle Mode. Their concern was brought all the way up to Mr. CEO who said, ā€œWe have already used up the budget for this project! We are keeping the cars as-is and using the outside portion!ā€ Imagineer Ashley said, ā€œWe canā€™t keep the banking on the turns or else the guests will be pushed out of their cars!ā€ ā€œWell, for safety, we will change it. But thatā€™s the only change we are going to do!ā€

One of the imagineers had gotten the idea that when Mr. CEO mentioned the need to include Cars that what he wanted was something like Luigi's Rollockinā€™ Roadsters. So the imagineer designed the ride so that the cars would dance rather than bump. This meant that the guests would not be operating the cars themselves.

To help the unpopular Planes movie, Marlys decided the new Meet and Greet would involve characters from the Planes movie. Since the budget was spent on the rest of the project, however, rather than having remote control versions of the planes, the characters would be Cast Members in Planes costumes.

Presenting...Lightning McQueen and Vennelopeā€™s Battle Mode! A mashup of not 1, 2, but 3 IPs! A ā€œbattleā€ without any battling. Sports cars that only go slow. And a bumper cars ride that the guests canā€™t control and without any bumping.

NAPA auto parts stores have signed on to sponsor the transportation pavilion for the next five years. And theyā€™ve brought along the world famous pilot of the number 27 IndyCar for Andretti Autosport, winner of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, Alexander Rossi.

3FA5A62A-9DCA-4DBD-9802-DDC1BE49AB92.jpeg

The traditional six-passenger ride vehicles have been replaced with sleeker two-seater models which will result in much longer wait times for excited guests!

Once inside the building, guests will wander through a replica of an IndyCar team shop, complete with disassembled chassis, tool boxes, engines, and computer systems.

6CD9FEC2-7236-4990-A1CC-16AFA2A02DDB.jpeg

After 60-180 minutes of waiting, guests board their race cars for a high speed adventure!

Departing the garage area, the cars enter Pit Lane for a quick four tire change and fuel fill up (accomplished via screens). Riders are then accelerated up the hill and out onto the track. The familiar, high pitched scream of IndyCar engines accompanies the entire ride. Alexander Rossi serves as ā€œdriving coach,ā€ alerting riders to whatā€™s coming next, and iffering

The first section of the ride is themed to a street circuit, similar to Long Beach or Detroit; narrow city roads in between temporary concrete barriers. The old ā€œbrake checkā€ effect has been deactivated, instead the cars take this first section at medium speed, slowly slightly for the two sharp corners.

8BF1A1C5-3E5F-4D7C-A44B-F4B504ECC806.jpeg

The second portion of the ride (the former ā€œheatā€ ā€œcoolā€ and ā€œcorrosionā€ rooms) are themed to resemble a short oval track such as Iowa or Richmond. The track is now banked, allowing the cars to take this section at a much greater speed. Where the mirrors once sat are now grandstands filled with fans cheering on their favorite drivers.

533B5D19-98E3-42D9-8BBE-0592A69FC3B7.jpeg

Next are the short straightaways and hairpin turns, which are themed to a natural terrain road course, such as Mid-Ohio or Elkhart Lake. These gorgeous permanent tracks feature beautiful landscaping and spectacular views for spectators.

1233010C-A54D-4BD5-A5B6-CF7CE8F7F147.jpeg

The semi truck jump scare has been removed, instead, the brief slowdown area has been returned to the pit lane from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the most famous race for not only the series, but racing in general; the Indianapolis 500 (often shortened to Indy 500).

After a second virtual pit stop, the cars accelerate from 0-115 mph in three seconds and head outside for a high speed lap around the ride building!

1A0F43C3-3410-4FA3-AB51-40E9BD08C07E.jpeg

Following their breathtaking lap around the transportation pavilion, riders return to pit lane to depart their race cars and head to Victory Lane! A replica victory celebration takes the place of the ā€œscoreboardā€, with the new Napa race shop taking over the remainder of the post show space. The Chevy dealership is now an IndyCar museum, featuring various winning cars from over many decades.

Ride duration: 2 minutes
Top speed: 115 mph
Capacity: 700 guests per hour (ride vehicles hold one third as many guests as Test Track, but the ride takes half the time).

Attention all ICABW players!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Chapter Two: Standby Queue. In this chapter come bigger prompts and more intense challenges, along with team-based gameplay! This chapter of the competition will be four rounds long, and players will compete in two teams.

Please note that I'll be out of town this weekend, so reviews and results for the Test Track 3.0 prompt will be coming sometime next week instead.

Guest Judges Logo.png

In these next four rounds, each prompt will have a Guest Judge! Each Guest Judge will judge a single prompt in this chapter, meaning a total of four Guest Judges! Reviews for Chapter Two projects will be provided by myself and the Guest Judge for the round, and results will be agreed upon by both of us.

Teams Logo.png

With this chapter, we begin team-based gameplay! And that means you'll need to know your teams!
(@D Hulk has volunteered to play in order to help even out the teams. He won't be playing to win, but he will be helping his team!)

You can totally review projects and give feedback, but the official Guest Judge for each round will be a different person. I'm sure the players would appreciate having some feedback from you as well, though, so feel free to do your own reviews! Just know that they won't affect the final rankings of the projects.

You could tell me this through PM, but who are the guest judges? Do I know them?

TEST TRACK BECOMES...

Walt Disney Imagineeringā„¢ and the greater Walt Disney Companyā„¢ promises fans that the upcoming Cars: Furious and Fastā„¢ attraction bears no similarities to any other potential media franchise, from past, present, or future, relating to cars and other motor vehicles It should be noted that the Walt Disney Companyā„¢ prides itself on its creativity and original ideas, and any claims otherwise are from people who are stupid and dumb. Ā©2021

On June 23rd, 2021, an hour and a half before a major deadline, Walt Disney Imagineering had a major breakthrough. Kids these days wanted more IPs in their theme parks. With Test Track 2.0 a major hit, now was the perfect time to change everything that made it so great and insert IP! But what IP to choose from?

CarsIcon.jpg

The Imagineers quickly made their decision!

PRESHOW
Cars: Furious and Fast is a retheme of Test Track, using the same ride system but additional "simulators" within the now-entirely-indoor slot cars to tell an all-new and very original story. Our journey begins with a preshow meeting starring Tom Doretto, a 1970 Black Dodge Charger (voiced by Vin Diesel).

Car1.jpg

Well well... I saw you racing back at the track. You got mad skills, but that ain't nothing compared to the streets. You think you can handle it? We're gonna find out. As part of my Supersecret-Superduper-Superspy-Force, you are now all part of my family. As family, there ain't nothing we can't stop... together. As family.

[Alarns begin to blare. An uh-oh has been made]

Oh no! The Bad Guy has escaped, we have to stop him! But don't worry, remember the power of family! And Corona Beer MyDisney Mickey Mocktailā„¢!

RIDE EXPERIENCE
We drive out of the station and immediately find the Bad Guysā„¢ attacking us with their rainbow laser gunsā„¢.

Car2.jpg

Visual depiction of "The Bad Guysā„¢". No underlying motivation or description of these characters is given.

Tom Doretto suddenly arrives and kung-fus the bad guys away, joined by the rest of his gang. The gang's resident tech car, Ludiprius (voiced by American Rapper Ludicrous), who tells us that to beat the Bad Guysā„¢ we to learn the power of NOSā„¢.

Car3.jpg

Ludiprius.

The NOSā„¢ takes over our vehicle and we speed faster than ever before. The screens show the NOSā„¢ traveling throughout our car, while Tom Doretto reminds us of the importance of knowing the street while racing.

bZTD4m.gif

With this advice we speed through the city alongside the rest of the gang, occasionally spinning out of control to fight a Bad Guy. While this happens a base-boasted version of ā€Make Those Movesā€ plays (with all the curses replaced by sound clips of the Mickey Mouse clubhouse's hit single, Hot Dog).

Along the way, we encounter many fan-favorite characters from the beloved Carsā„¢ franchise. These include Superspy Tow Mater, Flying Car Holly Shiftwell, Wingo's Street Gang, and even Chick Hicks.

Finally the Big Bad Guy shows up and challenges Tom Doretto and us to a street race to settle our differences. We race along the city streets, dodging traffic. Tom is hit by a stupid Tesla and put out of commission, leaving just us to finish the race! Right when it looks like we've caught up, the Big Bad Guy uses their NOSā„¢ to speed above, laughing at their victory.

DHk3.gif

Too soon! Tom says now, and we hit the DOUBLE NOSā„¢ to speed above and win the race! The Big Bad Guy says darn. We then go into outer space (cut for budgetary reasons).

---

CharmingTenderAtlasmoth-size_restricted.gif

Our journey ends with a very heartfelt parting with Tom and our ride vehicles, as he informs us we are always welcome in his family. As we go, Tom lovingly recites the Walt Disney Travel Company Terms and Conditons for Walt Disney World Ā© Resort. (Originally Imagineers wanted Tom to give grace, but this was scrapped out of fears of incorporating religion into a Walt Disney World attraction experience).

IMPACT
To summarize, Cars: Furious and Fastā„¢ is a groundbreaking and revolutionary new attraction reimagining Test Trackā„¢ as a totally original story based in the Cars universe. The Walt Disney Companyā„¢ is incredibly proud to have developed this original tale and expressed considerable interest in adapting the attraction into a spin-off franchise on the big screen.

"Why", Bob Chapek said upon the opening of the attraction experience, "This is such an original story guests at EPCOTā„¢ will get to embark on. I don't think anything like this has ever been done before. So let's all get a MyDisney Mickey Mocktailā„¢ and celebrate this incredible accomplishment. Ka-chow!"

Ka-chow!"

Chapter 2: Prompt 1
With Guest Judge @ThemeParkPriest

"Love that Test Track replacement, guys," says Chapek as we huddle around @ThemeParkPriest 's cell phone. "It's my new favorite Epcot pavilion!"

@Outbound rolls his eyes.

"Next we're gonna send you all over to Hollywood Studios. We need a replacement for Sunset Boulevard. We donā€™t have the budget to demolish Tower of Terror, though. You'll have to retheme it, preferably to something merchandisable!"

The Sun Sets on the Boulevard

For this assignment, you and your team will need to design a replacement land for Sunset Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios, incorporating at least two separate Disney IPs into your land under a unifying theme!

You wonā€™t be allowed to demolish The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Youā€™ll be required to retheme it, keeping the existing structure and ride system.

This round is NOT a Lemon Round, so cringe submissions are discouraged.

Deadline:
This project is due by Thursday, July 29th at 11:59 PM EST.

Tips:
  • You'll need to include at least two IPs in your final project, so be sure to choose a theme for your land that allows you to incorporate multiple IPs.
  • You won't be allowed to replace Tower of Terror with Mission: BREAKOUT! You'll need to come up with an original retheme!
  • This round is intentionally challenging! You'll need to use some teamwork in order to succeed!

Hey guys! Still out of town, but checking in real quick. Looks like brainstorming is going well!

For clarification, during a Guest Judgeā€™s round, he/she wonā€™t participate with his/her team, so that team will just be down a member during that round. The Guest Judges are split as evenly as possible between the two teams, so it shouldnā€™t give either team a massive disadvantage.
