It appears as if Magic Kingdom is the only dry park now

My wife and I have had this discussion a number of times....

While alcohol is readily available in the other three parks, there really should be nothing wrong with allowing some alcohol in the MK in limited/controlled contexts. For example, there's no need to have beer/wine carts out in the park. But enjoying a glass of wine while in Tonys for dinner (there's something wrong with having an italian meal without being able to enjoy a merlot) or a beer at Gastons, should not be something that's taboo.

Will that mean there's people stumbling from one beer cart to the other, like in Food & Wine...or there's champion beer guzzlers (like the one I posted in a pic above) walking amongst us mere mortals? Not at all...but having a single wine or beer with a dinner shouldn't be a big deal.

While we're at it, why don't we just throw out Walt's image for his park and allow cast members to have facial hair too?!?! And then why not some tattoos all over their arms, legs and neck? It will be like visiting the local mall! Woot!

Oh wait - check one off that list already!

A neighbor of mine stuffed his kids pockets with those small airplane booze bottles just before walking into the MK once....

I asked him how many bottles he smuggled in. His reply was simply "enough"

unless his kids were old enough to actually drink said booze, that's a little ridiculous and a lot wrong. IMO

and no, I'm not blaming you or anything

The trick to the Magic Kingdom is to get loaded B4 you enter the park. Chef Mickeys will help ya out. :fork:

Being serious: Just because people drink it does not make them 2nd rate citizens. To say "So kids can excape the drunk adults" is just stupid. This is a vacation kingdon for ALL ages. If people want to drink I say go for it.

Now if a guest wants to go overboard and starts acting nuts than they should not be given more to drink.

But to just say Beer = evil is just sad. Many people can drink and not get wasted.

How do you get from wine at dinner to "visiting the local mall"? Here's how apparently.

So how do all the people who want to hide children from the horrors of "booze" at MK feel about the designated smoking areas? That's worse than alcohol IMO and yet it's accomodated in a limited way.

The Magic Kingdom is the magical place, especially for children. Alcohol is and should be prohibited here. Let children escape from drinking adults and be thrilled with the magic that is presented there.

I totally agree!!! There is a time and a place for everything. And selling alcohol in the MK is neither. I'm glad to see it is still dry.

Can someone please explain to me how an adult enjoying a glass of wine at dinner, or a beer at Gaston's TAVERN ruins the magic?

This topic has been debated any number of times here, and this one is surely going to end in a thread lock, thanks to the puritans who believe that all alcohol is evil and we must "protect" people from it.

Just got back from Disney last night.

We all know you can buy beer at Epcot and walk around with it.
Now it appears that you can buy draft beer in plastic cups at DHS and walk around with it. There is a cart that sells soda and beer right outside of the Animation Studio archway and I saw empty plastic cups of beer sitting on the wall in line for Rock n Roller coaster. I remember one cart that sells Yuengling for $6.75 per cup.

I don't know if this is new, but they sell alcohol at one of the sit down bars just outside of the Tusker House at Animal Kingdom.

DHS has sold Draft Beer all over the place. Some ODF carts have Draft, and during certain times even the smaller carts will pour plastic bottles into plastic cups. Nothing new at all here.

MK has never sold any kind of alcohol. I completely respect this and hope its nothing that will change. When I need a drink at MK in the evening, I hop on the monorail and hop off at the Contemporary for a drink at The Outer Rim.

Went to the Food and Wine this past fall in 2011. Another father and I walked into the World Showcase looking to prove something. We pounded em at the Biergarten. Got more in Canada, England, Norway, some tequila in mexico.....then we came across this guy walking back to Canada for another loop:

We realized, in one very quick moment, that we were amateurs among pros and we decided it simply wasn't worth it embarrassing ourselves!

I thought I was the only one who kept all of my dead soldiers @ the festival! LOL! :sohappy:

Same. I doubt MK will ever serve alcohol, and it doesn't need to. It's really not that annoying to have to get on a monorail and go to the Contemporary...in fact it's a nice break in the day.

I don't want to see beer carts but it would be nice to have options at the sit downs. Not even the counter service either. It wouldn't be the worst thing to happen in Disney world.

Go figure. Obnoxious people running the thread with the Alcohol debate. I don't drink, but if you're on vacation, more power to you.

Ill also agree with this. Again I have nothing against the alcohol. But I will agree the MK should not have it just for Walt's sake.

I Don’t see a reason for any other park to not sell it.
