Is this really a thing or is it April 1ST? Cabanas in the parks.

The push is because of our society. We have become interested in personalization, in uniqueness, in convenience.
Ummm, you could apply that to any time period and it would hold true. Or are you saying that a person hundreds of years ago that was washing clothes or operating a horse drawn buggy or hunting for food in the cold did not want more convenience or personlization?
Pretty much every industry has made a push towards "customization and personalization"...because of their markets.
So that means TWDC should do it as well? The company became powerful by not following trends and setting the bar higher.

You can choose to believe it or not. It doesn't change that it is true and is in fact what businesses are doing now-because it's what a large market of people want.

That's all I'll say. I'm not interested in having a conversation about it. I answered a question, it's not a debate.

What I do not understand is this push for "customized and personalized" vacations? They need to go back to the basics
Customization is synonymous with more money. That's the only reason this has become a push. Problem is that there are plenty of people who are Ooohing and Aahing over these experiences, because it affirms that they are special and in an exclusive group. It's marketing 101.

Does anyone know if that is the last day they can return them to where they were purchased and get a full refund?

Who... what?

Did you purchase a cabana in advance and are looking for a refund and want to know if you have until Feb 17 to show up in person to get that refund?

What exactly are you asking.

You have a severe and frightening misunderstanding of why people spend their money on an experience.

Consumers have been spending money on experiences over "things" for quite a few years now. More than they ever have before. They also want personalized service. Yes, they want to feel special, but not in the way that all of your posts are painting them. It isn't about an exclusive group. It's about living life.
Your contempt and anger and and inability to understand anyone who chooses to spend their money on anything that you feel is frivolous, would maybe be calmed if you could grasp why they are making their decisions in the first place.

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.
Impressive? Or are they just lying? I do not believe for one moment that a person who was actively participating in this thread just a few days prior to their trip did not see them or purposely seek them out within a few minutes of entering Tomorrowland just to satisfy the minds curiosity.

I can honestly say i could see board members not seeing them even after posting about them 3 days before. Heck i have issues remembering what i walked into a room for some days and at Disney my mind would be far from remembering things like this that really have no impact on my holiday.

If you offer or create a quality product that fits into a market, and then continue to build on that quality, capturing the "who's" becomes irrelevant. They will come to you. Every person essentially becomes a "who".

I am not saying that marketing is useless either. But when a company puts more emphasis on marketing and less on maintaining the quality product that made them successful in the first place, deterioration begins to set in. With current management (in regards to Orlando), Disney would prefer to put a band aid on a broken leg and do everything in their power to have you focus on the magical band aid instead of the actual broken leg which will not fix itself. Just keep looking at the band aid, it says Disney on it!!!!!!

Welp. Good bye tents. I wonder if they would have worked better if they had waited for summer. Of course they would need air conditioning for summer.

I am sorry but my comment was meant to be a sarcastic jab at the current WDW management approach to generating dollars. Assuming they were purchased from some retailer with an extended holiday return policy ( pretty sure they were not) - WDW could decide to return them for a full refund even though they were used ( I don't know how extensively). This would be like returning clothes after you have worn them but not removing the tags. Would current WDW management do that? You can decide for yourself.

Disneyland is apparently creating Cabana's in unused 2nd story spaces (balconys, roof tops etc.) so I wonder if that Disney worlds next approach also?

that's the plan according to Len Testa. If Disney wanted to set up "cabanas" on the rooftops or second stories of buildings. I wouldn't object, because it wouldn't be in your face. Kind of like Club 33.

Just when I think WDWM cant get any weirder, I catch up on this thread...

Anyhoo, I like the sound of the tents being removed, but I agree with others that it sounds like they're taking them out to build permanent ones (that are hopefully less conspicuous).

I have zero problem with rest stations, cabanas, whatever you want to call them being installed somewhere that is completely out of view. The catch is that they must be put somewhere that would have no possible use for park expansion. What I mean is closing Stitch permanently to put indoor cabanas of some sort is a no no in my opinion. I just don't want to get cabanas where there could be a new ride/attraction, even if they are well themed.

Totally agree. If Disney wants to create this type of venue on rooftops, I don't care. But when Disney starts taking away from the average guest's experience in favor of an up sell, it's disappointing. I'm talking about things like the train station and the riverboat.
