Is this really a thing or is it April 1ST? Cabanas in the parks.

Not that I found this to be a good idea but if the price point was around $350-$450 I bet they wouldn't have had a problem renting them out. It's like the after hours thing, they overprice it and then try again with a slightly (though really it's still overpriced) lower price point and then call it a success. Wonder if they'll drop the price or just drop them altogether?
If they were climate controlled maybe but at 80 degrees outside, the inside temps must be at least 85 degrees. Yuck.

There remains the mystery though of the MK for years having had a tent, closed off to the general public, near pretty much the exact same spot of the current cabana tents....

I would have loved to visit Disney world on this day. I wonder what kind of food was served back then? Chicken breast nuggets and fries? Burgers with cheap bread?

The more photos that I see of these, the more cringeworthy they become.

If anybody wants to see an example of theme park tents/cabanas done really well, take a look at how Busch Gardens Williamsburg built theirs. Busch Gardens' are out of the way, almost hidden off of a path in the animal reserve, and surrounded by landscaping and vegetation. They don't stick out, most visitors probably don't even notice them, and they offer privacy.

I am half tempted to rent one of these Tomorrowland shanty huts, along with a half dozen eastern European escorts, and see what happens when I stroll in with my party.

I had to go back in my photos and check.. I thought I only remembered seeing two.

Here is the photo that I took..after being told on this thread where to look for them. They never stuck out to me, but then again I don't really hag out outside of the Tomorrowland restrooms..or take this path often.

It's not outside of the restrooms or off on some path, it's directly beside the SM entrance.

Ummmm the ones in the picture are right next to the restrooms. They sit along the path behind the dance party stage and between the restrooms and SM entrance.

It's not really a path, it's being blocked by the shrubs on wheels. That space was essentially open before the tents moved in. I think of "outside the restrooms" as when you walk out of them but yes they are right near them.

I understand that..I'm just saying that the only time I noticed them was when I looked for them, walking the path to the restrooms. I usually enter Tomorrowland a different way.
Looked through my photos again and this is the only pic I have in front of Space Mountain.
Maybe I'm the only one who isn't paying attention to the area where the tents are, but I'm not typically looking in that direction.

Oh by path I just meant where you are walking since the stage and restrooms and shrubs sort of close it in for a few feet.

PS I'm not excusing their placement. I don't like them at all. I could stomach some theme appropriate structures somewhere, but not tents.

Same here. I just don't think they are as distracting as being made out to be. I understand the point of them, I would just think there could be a better spot or at least a better structure.

Someone I was with(very casual Disney fan) noticed them right away as we turned the corner into TL. They were not happy with the eye sore. FWIW I didn't tell them about it ahead of time.

I'll be honest, the tents are no where near as noticeable or as obstructive as people here are saying. The portable hedges block them pretty well. I noticed because I was looking for them. The rest of my party didn't notice anything out of the ordinary till I pointed out the tents. We didn't have time to do the people over this trip, so I don't know if they're more noticeable from that. The white triangular top of the tents are all you can really see and honestly white triangular structures don't look too noticeable next to space mountain.

I still think they are exceedingly overpriced, using tents was wrong even for a reasonable price point, and I can't personally understand why someone would get this though I'm sure there'd be some demand at a reasonable price. I'm just saying that this isn't the sickening tragedy people make it out to be. At worst it is very mildly damaging to the aestetics of the area. Most people probably won't even notice if they aren't looking.

These tents are stupid, but they've really been blown out of proportion.
