Is this really a thing or is it April 1ST? Cabanas in the parks.

You and I have differing notions about the definition of showing off. Now to me, mentioning that you are staying at the GF where you rented a cabana to watch a football game is showing off or bragging. I guess everyone has their own definitions. Kind of like the term "disposable income"

Yes, we obviously do. I have not and will not ever expect or want someone to be ashamed of where/what they are doing. Regardless of if it's a Poly Bungalow, suite in the RPC, POP Century, renting a tent at MK, or eating at McDonalds.

If you view what someone is doing as bragging, then I highly suggest taking a good hard look inward. Also, instead of going to WDW on your next vacation, take that same amount of money and go hand it out on the street. Because ya know, there are people who can't take a WDW vacation, so if you do- it must only mean you are "showing off".

These rent-a-party-tent "cabanas" are worse show than any offering I have ever seen at a Six Flags park. Totally ghetto. And I am stunned that so many have no problem with it.

It's REALLY, REALLY, REALLY bad show.
Yeah, I've defended a lot. I've defended dance parties, FP+, upcharge events, seasonal pricing, general price increases, and loads of other stuff that's gotten me labeled either a pixie duster or a WDW employee. But these are egregious.

If I am having a fabulous experience, I don't feel the need to post a braggy "look at me" message on an anonymous forum. Wouldn't it have been sufficient to leave it at," I'm at WDW"? Instead you go out of your way to show off by posting about drinking your overpriced mimosa at the GF and watching the football game in a poolside cabana. Now that is tacky.
But I don't think that's something you would understand. Are you by any chance related to Marie Antoinette?

The words pretentious and ostentatious exists for a reason.

Context darling, context. I said I wouldn't pay for a cabana at MK, but the one at GF is totally worth it. Pointing out differences of why people may choose something.

I'm sorry that you are having such a difficult time comprehending, I really am. Just the same way you can't comprehend a joking comment on a thread, or what a wink means.. or the fact that YES, most people, including myself, have LESS disposable income once they have children. It's a difficult concept to grasp, I get it. Good luck figuring it all out, life can be so complicated, right? :).

Right Ms. Got Rocks, you were just kidding! I don't think so. You just used the thread as an excuse to show off. After all, what use is staying at the GF and sitting at their poolside cabana if no on knows about it?

You just proved my point: You rented the poolside cabana to show off to your fellow GF guests and to the people on this site. It's the same reason people will be renting spaces in tent city in Tommorowland.

If it was all about just watching a football game, you could've done that in the privacy of your own room sitting in your underwear.

Can you take this to PMs or just let it go? You're not doing yourself any favors here...

If construction walls can, and do, pop up all over with minimal impact other than what they may be taking away for the time being, why should a couple of tents which are located in an area typically unused bother anyone? Although they're far from pretty or themed, they're not in the way or neon.

However, I can see Disney deciding to discontinue these as soon as they start running into guests using them for a more ... um... "adult" use. Shouldn't take long.

Wish I had anything witty to say, but nope. Entertained by the range of emotional behavior on this thread, all over a couple of tents. The problem of course is that Disney is planning north of 100 of these UNHCR tents ...

The difference of course is that scrims and tarps are usually up while the park is being improved for the enjoyment of all. That is just not the case with the tents.

The tents themselves are not the threat, it is the mindset of management that the tents represent. Regardless if they decide to build more permanent and themed ones. Regardless if they are out o sight. These tents, the used golf cart selling beverages in the parking lot, up charge for express bus service, and the myriad of other failed attempts to raise the bottom line just reek of mediocrity and desperation.

We should be thankful for the executives of the past who paid attention to the tiniest of details such as painting the exposed utility and plumbing equipment to match the road signs. The executives of today would most likely laugh at the thought of spending money on painting a power meter or fire hydrant purple.

Well they have these at the waterparks and don't seem to have an "adult" problem, right. Although it looks like these have windows. But yea kind of smacks of Vegas-esque upgrades for money. I could see some families like with autistic children wanting them though, if they can afford it.
