Is this really a thing or is it April 1ST? Cabanas in the parks.

Blissful ignorance.
Let's get a little grounded here. Blissful ignorance is ignoring what is going on in a country that will affect every single person in that country. Not paying attention to something in a damn theme park is part of just being involved with things more important. And the list of the things more important then those tents is a very, very long one. Geez... we need to get a grip on reality here. Blissful ignorance is thinking that this is a gigantic problem for everyone. It is not the illness it is a symptom of the illness. Until one can find a cure for that particular illness, it will not be stopped.

Blissful Ignorance: fortunate unawareness of something unpleasant.

Do you have children? Or loved ones? Or do you go to MK by yourself? Do you not pay attention to the people you are with? I went out of my way to see the tents tonight. Yes, Out of my way. Unless you are hanging out near the restrooms they really aren't noticeable. I don't stop at a restroom in every land, and up until tonight we had not stopped at these.
Haven't seen them at night, but they likely would be easier to miss. Unless they have bright lighting inside.
They are lit up. Here's a photo, If you aren't spending a good amount of time outside of these restrooms then I'll say they're easy to pass by, or not be close to them at all.

If tents are of huge importance and dramatically unpleasant to you then all I can say is- bless your heart.

I'm still trying to figure out if it's theatrics.. or if people are actually this serious.

Those pictures were taken from the front, and at night, and a little distance from them so they are not that noticeable as you stated. I saw them for the first time yesterday during the day and they are very clearly seen walking up to SM.
My wife, who had no idea about them because she's not a board reader said first thing when approaching , asking me what those white tents are for.
They are out of place, they are very noticeable and it looks like a area for hazmat tents. IMO

This.

Sorry to insult those who plan on doing this, but the only reasons I see for doing this are:

1.You like to show off how much money you have.
2.You are incredibly lazy.
3.You have so much money to spend, you insist on spending it in the most ridiculous ways possible.

You are in, what many of us consider, the most fun, beautiful, magical, happiest theme park in the world and you choose to spend that time sitting inside a tent. Hell, forget paying $650 for this "add-on." You couldn't pay me $650 to do that. This is like paying for tickets to the Super Bowl, having seats on the 50 yard line, but deciding to spend even more money to sit a room upstairs so you can watch the game on TV.
I think the winner is #1. But what I've learned is the people who need to show off their wealth aren't really that wealthy. they are the Big Hat No Cattle group.

I have no problem with up charge cabanas being available to anyone that wants them. I personally think the price they are asking is insane. But a lot of folks have A LOT mo monies than me, so it's really none of my business if this is how they choose to spend it.

The Tent City is inexcusable.

But isn't this just a test that is only to last through The Holidays, and if it is successful, they will build themed nicer units (AC and TVs) in a more secluded locale? And the DHS ones will probably have beer and wine, just sayin'.
I don't understand the theory that if the tents are successful, Disney will build nicer permanent structures. If they are successful at renting crummy looking tents for $650 a day, why would they bother spending additional money on permanent structures? That would be a waste of money.

So, along with no AC/no heat, almost no resistance to some of the famous high wind, short storms that Florida is famous for and a cost of $700.00 per day, at night you can have a tent full of all kinds of colorful bugs as well. Damn, I may just borrow some cash just to experience that. I don't think it is going to last that long and if it does, well, a fool and his money are soon parted.

The continued rhetoric of "it doesnt affect me" is nothing more than motivated avoidance.

These tents are a visual representation of the pigeonholing and the dangerous mindset of how the company chooses to provide better service.
And reacting completely negative to it is nothing more then motivated avoidance that reality is what it is. We don't like it we don't make it part of our experience. Right now, unless one is using the rest rooms, it isn't really in our direct line of vision and even if it is, it is only replace darkness and nothing beyond the hedges. I don't like having Camels spit on me either, but, they are part of the park and all I have to do is avoid them. Some solutions are simpler then others.

That is ridiculous. Wearing a tacky shirt, necklace or earrings, with a giant double C on them is trying to show off. Things like renting a cabana are for practicality. Just bc something doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean it won't make sense to others.

These tents don't make sense for me. They could make sense for someone standing next to me. Neither one of us are right or wrong.

I don't understand that either. They were open, and the inside (not that I could see much) looked nice...but the bugs would be crazy in the summer. The light fixtures are pretty big.

You cold not be more incorrect.

Your "solution" to "not see" the tents is destructive obedience. Continue to look the other until you have nowhere left to look.

On the flip side though, the level of rhetoric you're leveling at folks that disagree is incongruous with the severity of this issue.

Yeah they're an eyesore and thematically a horrible idea, but you're using terms that imply a psychological malfunction in folks that are simply content to move on with their day at a theme park.

Please, lets not make a theme park experience into a cult thing. And just so we are even... you could not be more incorrect. How does my not caring about it become destructive obedience? Let me repeat... It's a Theme Park not a Cathedral. It is a Theme Park not way of life. It is a Theme Park not a place that must adhere to your opinion of what you like or dislike. It's a Theme Park not a thing that must stay in museum mode to keep everyone balanced and embracing the familiar. Destructive obedience would be me having to be upset because you want me to be.
