We've gotten drenched the last few times we've been on Splash. While I can't say we've worn ponchos, I've put my hooded sweatshirt on and zipped it all the way up and put the hood on. Does the fact I cover my hair mean I shouldn't have the chance to ride it? Nope. Other than the fact I absolutely hate being soaked, my hair is not the kind of hair that dries kindly after a water ride, swim in the pool, shower, etc.. unless I blow dry it. It will legit be an afro. And last time my sister and I went on Dudley Doo Right over at IOA my sister had to brush her hair for a good 20 minutes because her hair is so difficult to brush when wet. It stays straight once it's dry but so hard to work a brush through.

So I think people are very lame stating "If you don't want to get wet then don't ride it!" there may also be other reasons people are wearing ponchos (they have some sort of medical device that can't get wet, etc..)

Life is short....so get a little wet!
For some people, that advice is painfully ironic.

just a suggestion for the non-poncho wearers......

do not go on kali and get drenched, then go to Nemo when they are blasting the air conditioning

i may or may not be speaking from experience

(but my brother still won't let me take his kids on it anymore........they were such little whiners! shivering just burns extra calories, it's all good)

I wear a poncho on Splash Mountin but I cut two circles out of the front so I can still flash my because I have low self esteem and poor judgement and I enjoy ruining other peoples memories by having their photos banned from viewing.

On Kali I wear a poncho but nothing else. It's much more refreshing to have dry skivvies to put on as you exit the ride.

It's not illegal to wear one but it should be!!!!!! SPLASH Mountain, hence the name, is intended to give you a SpLaSh!!:D

but it's not called freeze-at-night-tryin-to-dry-off-kingdom either. plus attire wouldn't change the "splash" I mean I have a pool and I have splashed people wearing bathing suits and people who were about to go to their in laws. they both got splashed the only difference was the reaction.

Definitely okay. I enjoy water rides without getting wet. Plus when I'm toting around ~$5,000 in camera gear I'm not taking any chances.
What do you do with your camera stuff? Do you bring it on with you and keep it under the poncho??? I dont have $5k in camera gear, but carry a Canon Rebel which isn't something I want to have to replace anytime soon. I kept having to leave it in the stroller and it made me so so nervous. Thankfully, my MIL cant ride it, so she waited with it, but still........ o.O

not really a very apt name for a camera to call it a "rebel" if you have to be concened about it and it's safety........
LOL!!!! I always thought its name was a bit interesting.

Right?? Its like a mom taking care of a teenager! The camera just sits there on its butt and does whatever camera things it does. While the "parent/owner' frets over it constantly!

I take my camera gear on with me but it's in a water resistant bag which then goes inside a plastic bag which goes in the centre part where you put bags on the Kali ride or kind of behind my legs/under my knees on Splash.

I would be nervous leaving it in a stroller, too. It's one of those things where 99% of the time it would be fine but I'm sure someone has had something stolen from a stroller and thought "Why did I ever leave that there." I wouldn't have a problem if someone was there with it though, unless your MIL is a "wanderer" and would leave the camera in the stroller.

on the positive if you ha something like an eye-fi sd card or another system that auto uploads things it could be a hilarious way to catch the thief. there was a great Facebook story where the woman stole a kids iPad, she then took goofy pictures of herself not realizing they get sent to his Facebook account and cell phone automatically thanks to the iCloud!

I've done it, but only when it's cold outside and I don't want to get wet as a result. Of course, cold to a Floridian is defined as "not in the 80's".

(sigh, I apologize in advance but have to take each cheap shot the few times I can get it)

that's not too bad, I hear that Boston is defined as cold when it's below 70..... wins in a season.

(to be fair you did destroy my rays like every other team did for the first 15 years they existed)

On Splash Mountain I'm not that worried about it. My camera bags are already water resistant. But on rides like Kali...I either don't go on them at all or bring a trash bag just for that ride. I put my case in that trash bag and after the ride is over I throw the trash bag away.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Forgive me, because I'm not picking on you personally. But, why go on a ride like Kali at all if you don't want to get wet?
Sometimes you have to go with the kids, like it or not, and you are wearing wild flowery underwear under light beige shorts, and ten thousand people that day had a great laugh at you, and the hand dryers don't work worth a crap for drying shorts - that's why.
