Is there a tour where you can ride Space Mtn with the lights on?

It's a tour for cast members only of course and just like the spaceship earth tour for us, it's really hard to get into.

I also have "dibs" in sm so I can ride that thing every chance I get when it's time for lights out...or in those cases....lights on...oh ho ho....stupid pun alert!! :hammer: I think I've rode everything dark with the lights on already since I've worked here....tot, rrc, sse....that's why you all should work here. XD! It's loads of fun!!

Actually, SM isn't a Wild Mouse Coaster. Primeval Whirl and Mullohand Madness (DCA) are Wild Mouse Coasters. SM and the Matterhorn (DL) utilize a track (that at the time) was revolutionary in the coaster world. Not only was SM one of the first dark coasters, it was also one of the first to utilize the tubular dual rod track form found in the Matterhorn. The ride itself was very ahead of its time.

Correct. I rode Matterhorn last Februaray for the first time since I was 10. That track is VERY bumpy compaired to SM in WDW. But you don't see them replacing the track on Matterhorn because nothing else would fit around all of those corners.

I would think the same would be for SM at WDW. They could easily put in a wider vehicle like at DL (2-seater) but they would have to almost completely redo the entire attraction from ground up. But lets at least hope for a smoother track, new vehicles and a soundtrack!

i was just watching the video of space mountain with the lights on and, im listening to sorcerer radio on live 365 and when you put those together, it is really weird, cant really explain it, but it somehow goes together, but puts it in a different light

Pretty cool video, liked the view from TTA also. It makes you appreciate the engineering side of the ride. Two thumbs up from me.

Well, if I remember correctly, they did retrack the Matterhorn to make it more smooth just a little bit ago. When I visited DL, it had just reopened from its rehab. It was still bumpy though-but that adds to the thrill of the coaster (thinking you are going to fly off the side of the mountain).

The 2 seater train is the most likely change to SM, with a possible night time version like "Rockin' Space Mountain" to open a year after SM reopens from rehab- just like DL. The theory worked before and it will work again. Plus, the Imagineers have more space to work with in the redesign (WDW's SM building is 300 ft tall while DL's and all of the other versions are 200 ft tall). The in car soundtrack will happen too.

I've seen the lights on quite a few times from the TTA but thanks for the video of the ride with the lights on. Its always fun when you head in on the TTA and see the lights. It feels like you're getting away with something. *chuckles*
