We will miss Electric Umbrella for one specific reason - Cold, filtered water. Could walk in and quickly refill a Tervis or other bottle with cold and good-tasting water. 😁

I've noticed a trend among EPCOT Center Fans (and trust me, I'm one of them) to cling to the idea of the buildings that are still left in Epcot, even if their contents haven't been what they were for a long time. Communicore hasn't been Communicore since the early 90's (and I liked EARLY innoventions, but it got stale quickly), and the Festival Center...formerly Wonders of Life pavilion.

I just can't maintain the notion that if the shell remains that somehow they'll someday decide to change the internals back to the original version.

Yes, I will definitely miss the hallway behind Club Cool and Starbucks as that is original and it's a nice, bright area that they finally added seating to (after I requested it on here, MAYBE Disney was listening??? :p ), but I'm not going to keep the notion that if the building stays that we'll somehow get something Communicore again in there.

I don't think anyone really expects the Comminicore buildings to turn back into Communicore.

What I lament is Disney tearing down a perfectly good building that they've been using poorly -- it's not like the building needs to be razed to maximize its potential. There's a lot they could do with it as it stands.

That they've decided instead to tear it down suggests to me that they misunderstand the problem, and therefore doesn't inspire hope that we're going to get something better than could be done with the current building.

Additionally, Captain EO was featured in the pavilion dedicated to Imagination, where it was an example of both futuristic vision and futuristic technology that was built around imaginary characters and settings. Guardians does not share that important distinguishing context, as people seem to forget.

It was framed as a highly-produced fiction you were about to watch, not as a reality you were going to experience the way Guardians is framed.

Wait - you know how Guardian's is going to be framed?

The location probably won’t, but there are replacement buildings proposed. If they’ll be in one of those I don’t know.
As a fan of coke myself I really hope coke gets a new building. I found them really cool how they manage to mix coca cola with the theme.

I really like the coke Refreshment Outpost on World Showcase

I’ll take that over rundown old Epcot pavilion with broken dinosaurs and effects where your forced to watch an embarrassingly bad 10 minute long video at the end presented by Ellen Degeneres

And i know pie in the sky we would have liked to see a modern energy pavilion but right now that issue is unfortunately too politicized in America, it’s not going to bring in and excite the crowds like Marvel will, and it would just get stale in 5 years anyway. On top of that it goes back to one of the original complaints (rightly or wrongly) that nobody wants to get lectured while on a family vacation.

The original attraction in hinsight was evil anyway considering it was just a big promo for Exxon one of the largest contributors to environmental damage in the world and a company that has kept global warming data and green technology down for decades.

On top of that the original Epcot Center that we all love so much heavily promoted Captain EO by George Lucas and Michael Jackson. How is Guardians of the Galaxy any different aside from the amount of real estate it’s using?
Energy being too politicized is stupid, its the one issue that shouldn't be. Call me crazy, but believing in science shouldn't be controversial in EPCOT. With no sponsor they could have gone all-in with any climate message they wanted.

I agree but sadly it's the world we live in.
