I was just wondering how many of you "DIE HARD" Disney Fans are being effected by the economy? Are you going to down size your trip? Fewer days in the world or value instead of deluxe or moderate resort? OR God forbid "NO TRIP AT ALL THIS YEAR"?"

We're skipping a trip this year.
Actually, we're going to try our first DL family trip next year.:D

That will be nice, since there will probably be more new stuff to see at WDW when we return in the future.

If we are in a recession I would hate to see a booming economy. I don't know anyone who has been effected by this "slowdown". I think it is a scam. It is definitely overstated.

We haven't been affected by the economy yet. Going to Disney this April and December. Not minimizing our trips either. :sohappy:

Well, you can meet one here. If you are working class you see it. I am management in jewelry. Valentine's Day sales are really bad. Wives and girlfriends will be getting more economical gifts like a pair of earrings instead of a diamond ring etc. At Christmas the husbands came in a couple days before Christmas and charged expensive rings, necklaces, etc; but the week after Christmas the wives came in with the kids to return the items. Most, when asked, was there anything wrong with the item stated their husbands should not have spent the money this year because they couldn't afford it.
With gas so high, groceries costing at least $30 more a week, mortgages going up because of rising taxes, homeowners insurance costing in the $3000 range for 2000 or less sq.ft and no land basically, along with the price of everything going up except your wages, the economy is effecting people.
Businesses are starting to cut back on employees cause sales are down so there isn't as much money for payroll available. It is a circle that will get worse before it gets better.
As for Disney, I saw a report that last year was a record year. 2008 probably will be good, too. A lot of people have been paying on their trips in advance so already almost there, but if things cotinue in the downfall, who knows what will happen in 2009. Hopefully, Disney will be the escape everyone finds to get through the tough times.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm getting laid off some time this month (I was the last one hired... though they also pay me the least, so they could keep me around) so this will be our last trip for a while. I have a few interviews coming up so hopefully one of those will pan out, but we'd also like to save up to buy a house.

Tell that to the people in the building business. Luckily I sold all of my inventory before things went south, but I know a lot of builders who are carrying houses for well over a year now. As for me, I have 2 trips planned this year.

I think you need to get out more often. We're definitely feeling the pinch, plus we're on year 5 of 8 college tuition years. We have loans and bills far greater than we had anticipated at this time in our lives, and most people we know are feeling the same way.
